Yvonne J. Colford
1932 ~ 2001

The death of Yvonne Josephine Colford, wife of Floyd Colford of 799 Howard Road, Howard, N.B., occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 15, 2001 at the age of 69.
Born in Howard, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Helen (Keenan) Hollier.
She was a retired store proprietor of Yvonne’s Convenience Store.
She was survived by her husband, Floyd; three sons: Ricky (Kathy) of Howard, Randy of Howard, and Jamie (Tina) of Keenan’s, N.B.; two daughters: Lynn of Howard, and Allison Furlong (Timmy) of Upper Blackville, N.B.; two brothers: Junior (Minnie) of Keenan’s and Bud (Pollie) of Upper Blackville; six sisters: Joan Greco (Adam) of Toronto, ON, Ernestine (Jack) of Hamilton, ON, Florine Furlong (Johnny) of Howard, Marie Colford of Howard; Mary Colford (Ricky) of Upper Blackville, and Helen Arbeau (Bliss) of Upper Blackville; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family received visitors at St. Raphael’s Slumber Room, Blackville, N.B., on Saturday, from 7-9 P.M, and Sunday, from 2-4 and 7-9, P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, February 19, 2001 at 11 A.M., from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Howard, with Father Vincent Donovan officiating. Junior Hollier altar-served.
The organist, Sister Connie Foley, was accompanied by the church choir.
The readers were Wendy Vickers and Pollie Hollier.
Active pallbearers were Bud Hollier, Carl Colford, Ivan Vickers, Bobby Colford, Johnny Furlong and Ronnie Vickers.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Vickers, David Nordon, Basial Colford, Mike Furlong, Bernard Hogan and Donald Colford.
Interment will take place at the Church Cemetery on a later date.
For those who wish, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Bell’s Select Community Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, N.B.

SMITH, Edward (Eddie)
Tuesday, 01 Oct 2002

The death of the late Edward (Eddie) Smith of Carroll's Crossing, N.B., husband of Elva (Lyons) Smith, occurred Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B.
Born in Liverpool, N.S., he was the son of the late Lester and Louise (Joudrey) Smith. .
Eddie was a retired sergeant from the Canadian Armed Forces, where he served with the Royal Canadian Engineers.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Donna Aguillon of Chilliwack; one step-son, Bayard O’Donnell (Myra) of Fredericton, N.B.; two step-daughters, Charlene Hunter (Lynn Allan Richard) of Fredericton, N.B., and Karen Clowater (Arden) of New Bandon, N.B.; one brother, Barrie Smith of Liverpool, N.S.; one sister, Greta Titus of Liverpool, N.S.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
At the request of the family, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
A private family memorial will be held at the Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, New Bandon, N.B. at 2 p.m. - Friday, Oct. 4, 2002.
Family address: Mrs. Smith, 5777 Carroll's Crossing Rd., Carroll's Crossing, N.B. E9C 2G3.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Miramichi Valley Funeral Home, 7681 Route 8, New Bandon, N.B. Phone 506-365-7577.

Romeo Joseph Gallant
Wednesday, January 31st, 2001

The death of Romeo Joseph Gallant of Miramichi, occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 31st, 2001 at the age of 73.
Born in Rogersville, N.B., he was the son of the Late Theodule and Evelyne (Duguay) Gallant and husband of the late Simone Gallant.
He was a Member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 and the Fellow Friendship Senior Citizen Group.
He is survived by one daughter: Yvette Gallant of Miramichi; one son: Roger Gallant (Anne) of Miramichi; two sisters: Anita Cooper of Miramichi, and Emily Mather (Lloyd) of Miramichi; one brother: Eulas Gallant of Miramichi; one half-brother: Francis Burns (Isabell) of St. Thomas, ON; five grandchildren: Brad, Allison, Tracy, Andrea and Robert, all of Miramichi; several nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Carmel Gallant.
He was predeceased by his wife, Simone and one son: Louis Gallant.
The family received visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Thursday from 7-9 P.M. and Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.
Mass of Christian was celebrated on Saturday, February 3rd, 2001 from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church at 11 AM with Rev. Arnie Hachey officiating, assisted by Rev. Henry McGrath.
The organist and soloist was Jacqueline Allain.
Readers were: his brother, Eulas Gallant and niece, Jacqueline Patterson.
Active Pallbearers were: Brad Gallant, Billy Gallant, Michael Gallant, Gerald Cooper, Ronnie Cooper and Edgar Comeau.
Members on the Newcastle Fellowship Seniors Group formed an honor guard following the service.
Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery on a later date.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Bell’s Select Community Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi.

John Ernest Clouston
Saturday, January 27th, 2001

The death of John Ernest Clouston of Derby Junction, N.B., occurred at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Saturday, January 27th, 2001, at the age of 79.
Born in Lower Derby, he was the son of the late Oman and Irene (Hare) Clouston.
He served in the Second World War and was retired from C.N.R.
He is survived by four sisters: Martha Wallace of Montreal, PQ, Lilian Griffin of Sackville, N.B., Pauline Saunders (Eddie) of Lower Derby, N.B., and Pearle Green (Fred) of Lower Derby; three brothers: Edward Clouston (Margaret) of Lower Derby, Clarence Clouston of Miramichi, and Oman Clouston (Irene) of Derby Junction; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one sister: Muriel Clouston; two brothers: Robert and Magnus Clouston; and good friend, Melvina Audet.
The family received visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Monday, January 29th, 2001, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held from the H. Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, January 30th, 2001, at 2 P.M., with Rev. Murdo MacKay officiating.
Organist & Soloist was Jacqueline Allain.
Hymns were: “In the Garden”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Beyond the Sunset”.
Active Pallbearers were: Jerry Greene, Junior Green, Kevin Saunders, Ed, Jr., Trevor Clouston and Laurie Gaudet.
Honorary Pallbearers were: Wayne Forrest, Thomas A. Mullin, Chester W. Somers, Frank Bohan and Edmund (Bud) Robichaud, Jr.
Interment will take place at the Ferguson Presbyterian Cemetery on a later date.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Bell’s Select Community Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi.

Margaret MacKay
Monday, March 19, 2001

Margaret MacKay of 273 Creaghan Street, Miramichi, N.B., passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Monday, March 19, 2001, at the age of 93.
Born in Newcastle, she was the daughter of the late William L. and Margaret (Astles) MacKay.
She was a member of St. James Presbyterian Church, life member of Atlantic Mission Society and St. James Aux.
She was survived by one sister-in-law, Mrs. Della MacKay of Miramichi, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters: Emma, Jessie and Greta and two brothers: William and Perley.
The family received visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home, on Wednesday, March 21, 2001, from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, March 22, 2001, at 2 P.M., from the H. Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Murdo MacKay officiating.
The organist was Gloria McKay.
Hymns were sung by the St. James Presbyterian Choir and congregation.
Active Pallbearers were: Gordon Nowlan, Lawrence Tozer, William Hare, Elwin Matchett, Eric Cameron and Darren Henderson.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Bell’s Select Community Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi.

Reta Lyle Sobey
Sunday, March 4, 2001

Sobey: Reta Lyle of 653 Hwy 425, Strathadam, N.B., passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 4, 2001, at the age of 91.
Born in Maple Glen, she was the daughter of the late Charles Albert and Mary Anna (McCormack) Sobey.
She did Evangelistic Work and attended the Church Followers of Christ.
Survived by 3 sisters: Mrs. Ina Sobey of Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home, Mrs. Marion Curtis of Strathadam, N.B., and Mrs. Olive Robertson of Tabusintac, N.B., and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by 1 sister: Alberta Dickson and 1 brother, Wesley.
Family received visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9.
Funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at 1 P.M., from the Newcastle Lions Club, Miramichi, N.B., with Mr. William Bryant and Mr. Jim Abott.
Active Pallbearers: Charles O’Regan, Leslie Beddoe, Armond Williston, Gary Robertson, Daniel Dickson and James Curtis.
Burial will take place in the Maple Glen Cemetery, later in the Spring.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Bell’s Select Community Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi, N.B.

Catherine Elizabeth Stewart
Monday, January 29th, 2001

The death of Catherine Elizabeth Stewart, formally of Trout Brook, N.B., occurred at the Miramichi Senior Citizens Home on Monday, January 29th, 2001 at the age of 81.
Born in Boom Road, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret (Matchett) Stewart and wife of the late Herbert Stewart.
She was a member of the Wesley United Church in Trout Brook, and their Church Choir.
She is survived by four daughters: Davida Adams (Brian) of Miramichi, Minerva Bowser of Dartmouth, NS, Dulcie Bowser (Robert) of Dartmouth, and Marta Stewart of Harvey Station, N.B.; one son: Clain Stewart (Gloria) of Trout Brook, N.B.; one sister: Nina Parks of Red Bank, N.B.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandsons and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by four sisters: Loretta, Glenna, Beatrice and Leva and three brothers: James, Guy and David.
The family received visitors at Bell’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7-9 P.M. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.
The Funeral Service was held from the Wesley United Church on Thursday, February 1, 2001 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Don Britts officiating.
The organist was Ruby Whitney, accompanied by the church choir.
Hymns were: “In the Garden”, Safe in the Arms of Jesus” and “My Savior First of All”.
Active pallbearers were: Darcy Stewart, Stacy Adams, Cory Adams, Jamieson Bowser, Richard Bowser and David Hale.
Interment will take place at the Wesley United Church Cemetery on a later date.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of Bell’s Select Community Funeral Home, 651 King George Highway, Miramichi.
