MARSHALL, BEVERLY LYNN
Beverly Lynn Marshall of Florenceville passed away at Upper River Valley Hospital in Waterville on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at the age of 57. Beverly is survived by her husband, Bob Marshall; two daughters, Sherry Wortman and her husband Duane of Woodstock, NB; Tammy Clark and her husband Richard of Kingsley, NB; four grandchildren, Bobby and Cameron Clark; Alex and Brianna Wortman. She is also survived by her mother June Goodine of Lincoln, NB; one brother Raymond Goodine and his wife Thelma of Lincoln, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Beverly was pre-deceased by her father Hartley Goodine. Resting at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, with visiting on Thursday, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 pm from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel.
DURETTE, GINO MICHEL
The death of Gino Durette occurred on Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 at the Oromocto Public Hospital. Born June 12th, 1962 in Baie-Comeau, QC, son of Hugues and Ghislaine (Gagnon) Durette. Gino is survived by, Judy Lowe of Geary, NB; his daughter, Marianne Durette of Notre-Dame-du-Portage, QC; Judy's son, Michael Lowe (Jodi) and their children Alicia and Aaron; siblings, Marlene Durette (Angela Mignault) of Drummondville, QC and Martin Durette (France Berube) of Lachine, QC; his two nieces, Isabelle and Gabrielle; his maternal grandmother, Adeline Sergerie of Les Mechins, QC; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Select Community Funeral Home on Friday, December 19th, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Saturday, December 20th, 2008 at 11:00 am with Rev. Ken Weir as celebrant. Interment will take place at a later date in the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
HALFORD, IDA ELIZABETH "BETTY"
Ida Elizabeth "Betty" Halford of Rothesay, NB, wife of the late Dr. Ernest D. Halford, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fredericton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Fraser and Ida (Boies) Saunders. A devoted wife and caring mother, she lived a life of joy and humour and took great pride in her family. Mom was always there for us. For several years Betty enjoyed working in the St. George area as a receptionist for her husband and she frequently commented what wonderful people they are. She was a gifted musician and in her retirement years Betty took up the fiddle and joined the Park Avenue Fiddlers, which was high-lighted by a performance with the group in Ottawa at the Canada Day Celebrations and at the Imperial Theatre. Her "Jam" sessions with the girls, Irma and Freda were treasured and our family especially thanks them for their time spent with Mom. She is survived by three sons, Dr. Peter F Halford (Judy) and Dr. Brent F. Halford, both of Saint John West and Ronald Halford (Beth) of Winnipeg, MB; one daughter, Kathy Peters (Walter) of Rothesay, NB; one brother, Howard Saunders of Fredericton; two sisters-in-law, Nora Saunders and Hazel Fulton, both of Saint John; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, among them Burton Green, with whom she especially enjoyed many telephone calls and visits. Besides her husband, Ernest, she was predeceased by two sisters, Beulah and Mary; and one brother, Frank. Resting at Brenan's Bay View Select Community Funeral Home, 1461 Manawagonish Road, Saint John (506) 634-7425. There will not be any visiting at the request of the family, however friends are welcome to attend the funeral service which will be held from Bay View Chapel on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2:30 pm. Interment will be in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to any charity of choice. Special thanks to Dr. David Blagrave for his care over the years.
CREIGHTON, RUTH P.
The death of Ruth Pauline Creighton of Sussex occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on December 16, 2008 at the age of 87. Born in Upham, NB, she was a daughter of the late Claude and Delsie (Parlee) Sherwood and the wife of the late Roy Creighton who passed away in 1970. Ruth is survived by her daughter Betty Hawkes (William) of Quispamsis and sons; Herbert (Lucy) Creighton, Edgar (Cindy) Creighton and Allan (Mary) Creighton, all of Sussex, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, son-in-law Glendon Steeves of Kingston, sisters-in-law Anne Sherwood of Waterdown, ON and Chris Creighton Murphy of Sussex and several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by daughters; Edith Creighton, Mary Louise Creighton and Edna Steeves, her sister Louise Sherwood and brothers Richard, Ronald and Eric Sherwood. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Anglican Church on Friday December 19, 2008 at 2:00PM with The Venerable David J. Barrett officiating. Interment will be at Trinity Cemetery, Sussex Corner. Donations made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
Violet Lena Steeves
Steeves, Violet Lena, 92, of the Jordan Lifecare Center and formerly of Petitcodiac, passed away on December 15, 2008 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Killams Mills, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Elsie (Branscombe) Killam. Violet was the wife of the late Alfonso Steeves. She was a loving mother, her family and her Lord were very important to her. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening, and she looked forward to the family campout every year. Violet is survived by her daughters, Leota McConnell (Clelland), Toronto, ON, Marilyn Steeves (Gerald), Kinnear Settlement, Doreen Ogilvie (Donald), Salisbury, Connie Alward (Walter), Winnipeg, MB, and Beverly Harper (Donald), Petitcodiac; her sons, Graham (Katherine Dunn), Sutton, ON, Philip (Lynn), Fawcett Hill, Ronnie (Hazel), Kinnear Settlement, Deverne (Dorine), Salisbury, and Lynton, Anagance; her sister, Ethel Bishop, Petitcodiac; and her brother, Alfred Killam (Cora), Lewis Mountain; her sister-in-law, Doris Steeves, Intervale; her extended family, Debbie Burgess (Trevor), Salisbury; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Violet was predeceased by her grandson, David Ogilvie; daughter-in-law, Judy Steeves; sisters, Pearl Graves and Hazel Stultz; brothers, Wilfred, Roy, and Eldon. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Armstrong's Funeral Home, from where visitation will be held on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm; the funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 pm in the Havelock Wesleyan Church with Rev. Nick Graham and Rev. Leslie Hicks presiding. Interment will be held in Steeves Settlement Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
Fatima Shaban Hunt
1941 - 2008
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Fatima Shaban Hunt, who lost her courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Fatima was the loving wife of Don, cherished mother of Mendee (Troy) and adoring Nanny to Marcus (LBG). She will be sadly missed by her brothers Charlie (JoAnn) and Arle, her nieces and nephews, especially Sara Jane, her stepchildren, extended family and many beloved friends. Fatima was a tremendous force, incredibly funny and a beautiful soul. She loved chocolate, good ole' rock and roll and she loved to dance. She will forever be in our hearts. At Fatima's request a private gathering with immediate family only was held with interment at Glendale Memorial Gardens in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Frances Hopper

Frances (Cosman) Hopper, 87 of Moncton passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, December 15, 2008. Born in Moncton, wife of the late Murray Hopper and daughter of the late Walter and Mary (MacNaughton) Cosman. She will be sadly missed by two daughters, Elizabeth (Robert) Boettger of Hillsborough and Susan Welling of Shediac Cape, six grandchildren, Andy (Jennifer) Welling, Kathy (Craig) Vander Zwaag, Tom (Hope Lenehan) Welling, Mark Welling, Kirsten (Ralph) Snyder and Christopher Boettger as well as six great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Katherine (late Bradford) Steeves of Hillsborough and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband Murray, Frances was predeceased by a brother, James "Bud" Cosman and one sister, Miriam. She was a member of Central United Church of Moncton. Funeral service will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 2:00 pm followed by a reception in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Remembrances in Frances memory made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Society would be appreciated. STEWART
Mr. Leslie Lawrence Stewart, husband of Theresa Stewart of 1572 Route 118, White Rapids NB, passed away Saturday December 6, 2008 at Miramichi regional Hospital, at the age of 86. Born in Stewart Point, Quarryville NB, he was the son of the late Sanford & Mabel (Coughlan) Stewart. He was a retired self employed truck Driver and a member of St Bridget's Roman Catholic Church, Renous. He was a veteran of WW11. He is survived by three daughters; Gail MacNaughton (Wesley), Thelma Sullivan (Gary), Dorothy Mullin (Gerald); four sons, Leslie (Valerie), Derrick (Mae), Dennis (Irene), Timmy; three sisters, Alta Greely, Lorraine Curtis and Virginia Stewart; one brother, Murdock Stewart; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Laurie; three sisters, Susie, Elaine and Bernadine; two brothers, Irving and Herschel. At the request of Mr. Leslie Lawrence Stewart there was a private visitation and funeral on Monday December 8, 2008. Active Pallbearers were: Ian Stewart, Morgan Stewart, Malcolm Stewart, Ashley Sullivan, Bobby Sullivan and James MacNaughton. Arrangements in care of Davidson's Funeral Home (622-7464).

South Tetagouche - Vaughn Abernethy, 82, of South Tetagouche, passed away on Saturday (April 4, 2009), at the Chaleur Regional Hospital, Bathurst, after a brief illness. Born in Durham Bridge, he was the son of the late Merlin and Helen (Grant) Abernethy. He worked for the former Consolidated Bathurst Paper Mill for over 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Order Lodge Saint John F& AM. Vaughn will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Gertrude (Wood) Abernethy, and his five children: Robert (Lucie Caissie) of Bathurst Susan Audet (Alfred) of South Tetagouche John (Ina) of South Tetagouche Sharon Savory (Wayne) of Toronto, ON Sandy Flanagan (Tom) of Jacquet River, NB Two sisters: Marquita Nevers (Robert) of Florida Jackie Stewart (Norman) Fredericton One brother: Ted Abernethy (Audrey) of Boiestown 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation at the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday afternoon (April 8, 2009) at 4 p.m. from Elhatton's Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rodrick Black officiating.
