Turnau-the death of Olive T. Turnau of Saint John, widow of Robert Charles Turnau occurred peacefully on Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John she was a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mary Florence (Markey) Kane.
She is survived by ten nephews and nieces and two sister-in-laws who are saddened by her passing. Olive will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humour.
Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, with visiting on Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. John the Baptist Church on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at two o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

HAMM-it is with great sadness that the family of Raymond James Hamm announce his death at Ridgewood Veterans' Wing on Monday, June 8, 2009.
Raymond was born in Saint John, the eldest son of the late Ward and Margaret (Kendall) Hamm. He was predeceased by Margaret (Gayton), his beloved wife of 42 years, in 1997. He served overseas with the Royal Canadian Army (Dental Corp) during the Second World War. He had been employed with Canada Packers until his retirement in 1983. He was very content with his life, filling it with his family and many hobbies and pastimes. He was a devoted and hard working member of the Knights of Columbus Council 937 for over 30 years. He was proud of and really enjoyed his work and the many activities as a part of the 3rd and 4th degree teams and the friendship of his fellow knights. He was predeceased by his sister, Marie Warr (Gray); and his brother, Howard.
He is survived by two daughters, Margaret Ann Leclerc (Raymond), and Jane Farnsworth (Barry), both of Quispamsis; two sons, Raymond (Alison), and Peter (Kim) both of Saint John; his sister, Hilda Mason (Gene) of Saint John; and his six grandchildren, Adam and Jon Leclerc, Ken, Tyler, and Lauren Farnsworth, and Matthew Hamm.
Resting at Fitzpatrick's Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo St., with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday afternoon at 12:05. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Columbus will gather at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock for prayers.
Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society;the IWK Children's Hospital, or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. The family would express their heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff and friends at Ridgewood for their care and compassion during his stay.

WOFLE-the death of Sister Frances C. Wolfe (Sr. Agnetis) occurred at Ruth Ross Residence on Monday, June 8, 2009. Sister was born in Carmel, Sask., a daughter of the late Peter and Theresa (Huber) Wolfe, and entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception on July 16, 1935. Sister taught elementary school for 43 tears. Her first teaching assignment was at St. Joseph's School, Winnipeg. She later taught in the following places throughout her career; St. Francis of Assisi and Sacred Heart Schools in Vancouver, St. Patrick's Orphanage, Prince Albert, Sask. and Holdfast, Sask., and in Bath School, Bath, N.B. Sister moved to Burnaby, B.C. in 1987 and resided at St. Michael's Convent where she did library work at St. Michael's School. Sister Frances moved to Edmonton in 1996 where she served as Eucharistic Minister to seniors.
She had resided at Ruth Ross Residence since 2000. She was predeceased by four brothers, Mike, Louis, Joseph, and John Wolfe; and four sisters, Celeste Wolfe, Mary Konner, Ann Barr, and Theresa Wolfe. She is survived by three brothers, Peter Wolfe of Humbolt, Sask., Raymond Wolfe of Nanaimo, B.C., and Gilbert Wolfe of Calgary; a sister, Henrietta Lee of East Wenatchee, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
Resting at St. Vincent's Convent, 31 Cliff St., with visiting on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Vincent's Chapel on Thursday morning at ten o'clock.
Interment will take place in the Sisters of Charity Plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Evening Prayer Vigil will be held on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock.

DOHERTY-Peter Andrew Doherty, 55, of Clifton, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, following a brief illness. Peter was born in Saint John on December 15, 1953, a son of the late J. Frank and Mary (Clancy) Doherty. He was a graduate of St. Malachy's High School and attended St. Mary's University in Halifax, N.S. He was a member of the United States Trotting Association and the New Jersey Standardbred Owners' Association. He moved from Canada to the New England states , where he began his career as a horseman, working with his brother, Jim Doherty. He spent some time in Maryland, racing at Rosecroft Raceway and then moved to New Jersey to return to work with his brother, Jim, driver-trainer at the Meadowlands Raceway, returning to New England a few months every year. He is survived by his son, Andrew Francis Doherty of Halifax, Mass.; three brothers, Jim (Marianne) of Clifton, N.J., William (Rita) of Ottawa, and Paul (Roxanne) of Ringwood, N.J.; five sisters, Mary (Bill) Murphy, Martina (Donald) Shannon,Patricia (Merrill) Loughery, Anne (Paul) Gilbride, and Evelyn Doherty, all of Saint John; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews; and his former wife, Maureen (Feely) Doherty of Halifax, Mass.
Funeral services will be held from Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home (www.bizub.com), Clifton, on Saturday morning to St. Andrew the Apostle Church, form Mass of Christian Burial at eleven o'clock. Memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Standardbred Retirement Foundation, 108F Old York Rd., Hamilton, N.J. 08620 would be appreciated. Following cremation, Memorial Mass and burial will take place in Saint John at a time to be announced.

KENNEY - Helen Christina Catherine Kenney, formerly of the Admiral Beatteay Complex, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, June 15, 2009 following a brief illness at the age of 86. She was born in Saint John on May 2, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Georgina (London) McCaffrey. She worked at Moosehead Breweries, Willett Fruit Co., Pope's Machine Shop, and the veneer plant. She was a member of Maple Leaf Glade #1 for over 50 years and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 53. For many years she was an avid bowler and dart player. She enjoyed watching wrestling and playing bingo. Helen had a heart of gold and would do anything for anybody. She was well known by many as "Mom". She was well respected and loved and will be sadly missed by all. Her spirit lives in many lives she touched. She was predeceased by two infant sons, Rodney and Joesph; three brothers, Royden, Frank, and Edgar; and a sister, Josephine. She will be loved and forever missed by her loving children, John, Joanne, Cheryl (Terry) Nelson, Tanya (Tim), and Royden, all of Saint John; her grandchildren, Chance, Tanya, Snooker, Nicole, K. W., Bridget, Kylor, Taniah, Kristen, Carole, and Heather; her 19 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; devoted friends, Edith, Jackie, and Betty; and her caregiver, Deanna.

BROWN - the death of Jean A. Brown of 5 Corkery St., widow of William E. Brown, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, June 16, 2009. Mrs. Brown was born in Saint John, a daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth (Drake) Ross. She had been employed at Birks for 25 years until her retirement a number of years ago. She was a life long member of St. Pius X Catholic Women's League and was an avid reader. She was predeceased by a son, William P. Brown; and a daughter, Theresa "Terry" Wirvin. She is survived by two daughters, Susan Lane (Eugene) of Annapolis Royal, N.S., and Jane MacMillan (Bruce) of Saint John; one brother, Fred Ross of Saint John; one sister, Theresa Smith of North Bay, Ont.; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and Mary Maher of Saint John, Elizabeth McDermott of Fredericton, and Brian Wirvin of Wolfville, N.S.
There will be no visitation at the request of the family. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Pius X Church on Saturday morning at ten o'clock. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made in Jean's name to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.

WALTON - the death of Donald J. Walton of 15 Pine St., Sussex, occurred unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, June 17, 2009. Donnie was born in Saint John, a son of the late William and Helen (Gallagher) Walton, and had been employed as a branch manager with Universal Sales Ltd., until his retirement a number of years ago.He was a former member of the Adanac Club. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Edward "Trapper" Walton; and three sisters, Marie Barry, Joan Hodd, and Patricia Davidson. He is survived by his best friend and companion, Anne Marie Huber; and several nieces and nephews.
