Norma Jean Elsie Murphy
June 8, 2001

Norma Jean (Brown) Murphy passed away Friday, June 8th, 2001 at York Manor Nursing Home, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Jean was the daughter of the late Henry and Beatrice (Kelly) Brown and wife of the late Max Murphy. Jean is survived by her by her three children, Robert (Edna) of Berwyn, AB., David (Amy) of Toronto, ON. and Melanie (Dale) of Calgary, AB. They will remember her with love and affection. Jean had four grandchildren who were all very important to her: Lee, Curtis, Connel and Scott. Jean is also survived by three brothers: Norman (Irma) of Fredericton, NB., Glenwood (Pauline) and Weyman (Grace) both of Mazerolle Settlement Road, NB.; four sisters Joyce Bennett (Charles) of Marysville, NB., Arylene Thompson (Harold) of Quispamsis, NB., Delma Whitney of Kelowna, BC. and Gail McLellan of Colby Village, NS.; as well as, many nieces, nephews, cousins and special aunt Lettie. Jean was predeceased by her husband, both parents, brother-in-law Doug, niece Tanya, and nephew Dale. Jean showed all of us strength and courage as she lived with Alzheimer’s. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and her wonderful imagination.

Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home on Monday, June 11th from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 12th at the Second Kingsclear Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Eugene Morell officiating. Interment will take place in the Prince William Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall. If desired, donations may be made in Jean’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or to the Second Kingsclear Baptist Church (Parsonage Fund).

Ethel Grace Gorman
June 4, 2001

The death of Ethel Gorman of Fredericton, NB occurred at her home on Monday, June 4, 2001. Ethel was born in Fredericton, NB on February 11, 1914 to the late David and Agnus (Ridland) Gorman.

Ethel was a member of the Fredericton Golf and Capital Winter Club and was a member of St. Paul’s United Church where she was treasurer for several years. Ethel’s many enjoyments were playing a game of bridge, working in her garden, playing golf and her dog GG. Ethel was also a respected employee of Central Trust for 39 years and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and 3 great-great nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; sisters Barbara Jean, Florence, Helen, and Kathleen and brothers David and Wilfred.

Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 6th, from 7-9 PM. Funeral service will take place at St. Paul’s United Church on Thursday, June 7th at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Fisher officiating. Interment will be in the Fredericton Rural Extension Cemetery. Donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Allan Greene
June 3, 2001

The death of Allan Greene of Fredericton , occurred at York Manor Nursing Home June 3, 2001. He was 88 years of age. Born in Boiestown, NB. he was the son of the late Harry E. Greene and Clara I. (Hovey) Greene.

He is survived by his sister (Pearl), Mrs. C, Raymond Farrinton of Falls Church, Virginia, and his niece (Phyllis), Mrs William M. Howard Jr. of Arlington, Virginia. and her family John Howard, Emily Flanagan and Edward Howard.

He was predeceased by his wife Helen F. (Coburn) Greene on January 1, 1992, his sister Phyllis in 1931, brother Wilson in 1971, brother Ralph in 1987.

For many years he was employed in the accounting department of a local automobile dealership in Fredericton, and later as Business Manager for a Firm in Washington D.C. area from which he retired in 1982. He attended and supported St. Paul’s United Church in Fredericton. He was a member of the Fredericton Golf and Country Club, life member of Hiram Lodge #6 F.& A.M. Fredericton, member of Fredericton Shriners Club, 32 degree Mason with Mithrow Lodge of Perfection, Scottish Rite, of Washington D.C. and a Shriner with Almas Temple also of Washington, D.C.

Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home on Monday, June 4th, from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church on Tuesday June 5th, at 2:00 PM. Rev. Paul Ross officiating, Interment will take place in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension.

Henry Cecil Doyle
June 2, 2001

Henry Cecil Doyle died peacefully at the DVA Veterans Unit where he has lived for the last three years on Saturday, June 2nd, 2001. Husband of the late Alice (Dever) Doyle.

Cecil served overseas with the North Shore Regiment and worked for the provincial government until his retirement in 1978. He was a longtime member of St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church, and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4.

Survived by his children; Mary McIllwraith (Tom) of Halifax, NS, Anne Doyle, Harry Doyle (Jane), Joan Doyle Green, all of Fredericton, Elizabeth Doyle (Denis Gosselin), of Quebec City, and special niece Patti McManus Parker (Doug) of Saint John, NB and their children; Saxon and Norah Parker, and grandchildren; Angus and Eileen McIllwraith, Jenny, Mitchell and Daniel Peters, Stephen and Joseph Doyle, John, Michael, Sarah and Katie Green, Natalie, Mathieu, Sonia and Philippe Doyle Gosselin, and one brother; Edgar Doyle, of Ottawa, Ontario, two sisters; Kathleen Beaton, of Moncton, NB, and Joan Swenson (Bob), of Ottawa, Ontario, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at McAdams Select Community Funeral Home on Monday, June 4th, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 will hold a tribute service at funeral home on Monday evening at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 5th, at 12:05 PM at St. Dunstan’s Roman Catholic Church, with Monsignor Brian Henneberry VG officiating. Interment will be in Hermitage Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations made to charity of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

Jennie May Rickard

The death of Jennie May Rickard of Fredericton occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on October 14th, 2001 at the age of 94. Born in Portland, Maine she was the daughter of the late Robert Thomas and Mary Aleta (Watson) Scott and wife of the late Willard Havelock Rickard. Jennie was a charter member of the Barker’s Point Women’s Institute and a longtime member of Gibson Memorial United Church. She is survived by one daughter; Doreen Banks of Fredericton, one son Wendall Rickard (Anna) of Fredericton, four grandchildren; Stephen Rickard, Chris Banks, Rick Banks, and Scott Banks all of Fredericton , six great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law; Gyda Scott and Peggy Rickard both of Fredericton and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her father and mother, her husband; Willard Havelock Rickard, three brothers; Keith, Winston and Harold, one son-in-law; Jerry Banks and sister-in-law; Ruby Scott.

Visitation will be held at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Gibson Memorial United Church on Wednesday at 2:00 PM. Rev. Boyd Vincent will officiate. Interment will take place in Sunny Bank Cemetery. For those who wish memorial tributes made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

Mark Louis Dasset

The death of Mark Louis Dasset of Nevers Road, Lincoln occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on October 13th, 2001. Born in Minto, NB he was the son of the late Alphonse and Antionette (Masy) Dasset. Mark is survived by his wife Constance , two daughters; Sherry Atwin (Kieth) and Dale Dasset of Rusagonis, two sons Andy Dasset of Fredericton and Kim Dasset (Wanda) of Oromocto, four grandchildren; Mandy Dasset, Krissy Atwin, Trevor Dasset and Jenny Atwin, one brother Joe Dasset of Newcastle Bridge, one sister Mary Patris of Newcastle Bridge and nieces and nepews. Predeceased by his parents and one brother Alphonse Dasset Jr.

There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. A memorial service will be held at the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Saturday, October 20th at 2:00 PM. Speaker will be Dennis Johnston. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial tributes made to the World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are under the direction of McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home (458-9170)

Pamela Jane Boone (Wry) Daye, R.N.

The death of Pamela Daye occurred unexpectedly after a short illness on Saturday, September 29th, 2001 at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Halifax, NS. Born in Saint John, NB, Jan. 29, 1948, she was the beloved wife of Dr. Peter G. Daye and daughter of the late Major George and Violette Y.M. (Boone) Wry.

She is survived by her husband Peter, daughter Rebecca (Becky), son Tony, all of Fredericton, NB, sister Delores Wadleigh of Saint John, NB and several extended relatives.

Pamela was the last graduate of the last graduating class (1972) from the former Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing. She was an OR nurse at the DECRH.

Visitation will take place at McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home, Wednesday, October 3th, 2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 4th, 2001 at 11:00 AM at Christ Church Parish Church, Westmorland St. with the Ven. John Sharpe officiating. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Saint John, NB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Adalaide Elizabeth Bedard

With devoted care passed away peacefully at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. September 21st, 2001. She is survived by her husband; Ted; three daughters, Michele Bedard of Fredericton, NB; Anne (Alan) Archibald, of Bedford, NS; Jeanne, MD (Michael) McNeill, of Riverview, NB; son Marc (Charlotte) Bedard of Toronto, ON; twelve grandchildren: Amanda (Richard) Starr, of Fredericton, NB; Joshua (Heather) McElman, of Fredericton, NB; Benjamin (Sabrina) Bedard, of Ottawa, ON; Nicole Bedard, of Ottawa, ON; Daniel Bedard, of Toronto, ON; Sam and Alex Archibald, Emma and Maggie Archibald, of Bedford, NS; Meghan, Sydney, and Brett McNeill, of Riverview, NB; two great grandchildren Liam and Daniel Starr, of Fredericton, NB. She will be remembered by several nieces, nephew, cousins, and some dear friends.

There will be no visitation by request. No flowers please. Remembrances to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. A funeral mass will be held at the Holy Family Parish Church, Hanwell Road, Monday, September 24th, at 12:00 PM. A private burial service will take place at the Hermitage Cemetery. Arrangements by McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home, York Street, Fredericton, NB.

Olive Violet (nee Wandless) Woodbury

Olive Violet (nee Wandless) Woodbury - peacefully at Windsor Court in Fredericton on December 15, 2001 in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of 50 years the late George Woodbury (1980).

Loving mother of Nancy, Jerome, Elaine, Charlene, Stephen, Tracy, and Michael. Proud great grandmother of 11 great grandchildren and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by sister Mona Mac Millan and loving friend Mary Machett.

Predeceased by sister Betty Teed, brothers Francis and Albert Wandless.

Private memorial services will be held at Christ Church Cathedral at a date to be determined in 2002 with internment at Fredericton Rural Cemetery.

Donations to charities of choice with condolences forwarded to McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home or to family members would be appreciated.

The care given to Olive during her illness by Windsor Court staff and the long time care and devotion of Mary Matchett, and the many visitations of nephew George Wandless are acknowledged and appreciated by her family.

Herbert Charles (Snoopy) Hamilton

The death of Herbert Hamilton occurred at home on November 19, 2001. Born in Plaster Rock, NB he was the son of Christine Nellie (Searles) and the late George Hersey.

Herbert is survived by 2 sons; 2 daughters; brothers, Glenwood Warner (Louella) of Caribou, Maine, Stewart Hamilton (Diane) of Petawawa, ON and Darrold Hersey of Fredericton, NB; sister, Sandra Stevenson (Rocky) of Plaster Rock, NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceasing Herbert are his foster parents, William and Lorna (Jenkins) Hamilton and his father, George.

There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held at Sisson Ridge Baptist Church, Sisson Ridge, NB on Thursday, November 22, 2001 at 2:00 pm Rev. Leonard Cousins will officiate. Donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. McAdam’s Select Community Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
