LYNCH (MADDOX), Marjorie - Age 77 years. Native of Bay Bulls, NL. Died after a long illness in Sacramento, CA on January 25, 2003. Well known internationally as a poet of the flowers in Canada and the U.S. Leaving to mourn her four children and six grandchildren; three sisters Anna McCleary, Mass., Florence Dewitt, Mass; Kathleen Outhouse, Digby, NS; twenty-four nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and the U.S. Predeceased by her sister Mary Raymond and her brothers Stephen Maddox and Nicholas Maddox. My Old Home Town The sea breeze gently wipes away The teardrops from my face, As I say my fond farewell, To this quiet place. The souvenirs that I have found, Will comfort me a bit, A rock, a nail, a piece of wood, A shawl my mother knit. These flower seeds from the flowers, That grew where our home once stood, Makes me wish that I could stay, I only wish I could. The old rusty horseshoe I found, Down by the well, It must have come from Dowdow, Daisy or Nell. I can hear the old piano, And a hundred dancing feet, To the tune of Sailor`s Horn Pipe, At the returning of the fleet. There`s one more thing that I must pack, Into my old suitcase, It`s a painting of Bay Bulls Harbour, This oh, so beautiful place.
