TUCKER, Captain Walter (Retired CN Marine) - Passed peacefully away at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, Walter Tucker, age 83 years. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife of 54 years, Louise (Clarke); his two daughters: Audrey and Dale Cale (Garth), Moncton, NB; one very precious grandson Scott Walter Cale; two sisters: Mary Butler (Charlie), St. John`s, and Annie Tucker (Charlie), Port de Grave; one brother, Arthur; one brother-in-law, Malcolm Clarke (Lorraine); his sisters-in-law: Elsie Tucker, Carbonear, Irene LaCour, St. John`s, Elizabeth Brown and Sybil Clarke, both of Brigus; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m. - 12 Noon Saturday. Funeral service to take place 2 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2003, from St. Mary the Virgin Anglican Church, Craigmillar Avenue. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant cemetery . WELSH, Delilah (Bryant) - Sept. 26, 1930 - March 24, 2003. passed away suddenly at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, March 24, 2003, Delilah Welsh of Islington. Precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and mother-in-law, whom we all loved, aged 72 years. Predeceased by parents, Mary and Lewis Bryant and granddaughter Claudette Marie Reid. Leaving to mourn husband Claude; one son Wayne (Peggy), Corner Brook; one daughter Lisa (Wilbert) Reid, Islington; grandchildren: Michael, Brian and Gina Welsh, Corner Brook, Tara-Lee and Terry Reid, Islington; great-granddaughter Victoria, Corner Brook; two sisters: Louie Jane (Eldred Reid), Scarborough, Ontario, Mary (Garf Tiller), Corner Brook; one brother Elwin Bryant, Islington; also lovingly remembered by a number of other relatives and friends. Resting at St. Matthew`s Parish Hall, Islington from Wednesday 2:00 p.m. until time of funeral. The Funeral Service will be held from St. Matthew`s Anglican Church, Heart`s Delight on Friday, March 28 at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow St. Matthew`s Anglican cemetery . Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to St. Matthew`s Anglican Church Memorial Fund, Heart`s Delight. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Warren`s Funeral Home, Dildo.

BRETT, Kathleen May - Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander on September 27, 2000, Kathleen May Brett in her 80th year. Predeceased by husband Mark, 1991. Left with loving memories are sons: Sterling and wife Joyce of Benton, Merle and wife Theresa of St. Anthony, David and wife Marjorie of Gander, Kevin and wife Peggy of Halifax; daughters: Judy and husband David Mercer of Grand Falls, Sybil and husband Ed Carberry of Gander, Carol Brett and John Skynner of Ottawa; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service took place Friday, September 29, 2000 from St. Martin`s Anglican Church, Gander. Interment All Saints cemetery . Donations in her memory can be made to the St. Martin`s Anglican Church Flower Fund. Arrangements entrusted through Stacey`s Funeral Home, Gander.

ADAMS, Gladys - Passed peacefully away on December 14, 2002 at the Palliative Care Unit of the L.A. Miller Centre, surrounded by her loving family, Gladys Adams, aged 97 years. Predeceased by her husband, James P. Adams; sons, Herbert and Edgar; daughters, Mildred Wiseman and Gladys 'Queen' Young; son-in-law Herbert Williams. Leaving to mourn, her twin sister, Alma Bussey; daughters, Audrey Williams and Phyllis Mullins (Dick); sons, Douglas (Lillian) and Gordon (Marilyn); daughter-in-law Ruth Adams; sons-in-law Jack Young and Ches Wiseman. Left with fond memories are many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren too numerous to mention; as well as many special nieces and nephews; other extended family and close friends. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday from 7-9 p.m., Monday 10 a.m.-12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday 10 a.m.-11 a.m. Funeral Services to take place on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 11 a.m. from The Carnell Memorial Chapel with interment to follow at the Anglican cemetery , Forest Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation.

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John`s on Thursday, December 12, 2002, Shirley Bradbury, age 60 years. Predeceased by son Wayne, 1964; father Cyril Hutchings, 1969; brothers: Bram Hutchings, 1995, Wycliff Hutchings, 1984 and Eugene Hutchings, 2001. Left to mourn, loving husband John (Buddy); one daughter, Gale Thorne (Derek); four sons: Calvin (Doris), Rodney (Neta), Johnny (Heather), Cory (Alana); eight grandchildren: Natasha, Tiffany, Mitchell, Dominque, Karissa, Matthew, Nicholas and Makenzie; two brothers: Ross and Cyril Hutchings; five sisters: Phyllis Clarke, Cynthia Dunphy, Gloria Brophy, Daisy Mercer, May Mercer; also a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends. Resting at Holloway`s Funeral Home, Whitbourne. Visitation from 6-10 p.m. Friday; Saturday 10 a.m. -10 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Sunday, December 15 at 2:30 p.m. from the Salvation Army Trinity Bay South Corp. Interment at the Salvation Army cemetery , Whitbourne. The Lord replied, 'My precious child, I love you and would never leave you. During your time of trial and suffering when you saw only one set of footprints... that was when I carried you.

Pearl; also his grandchildren: Tammy (Philip Gough), Beverly (Danny Wiseman), Jimmy, Krista and Trevor; one great-granddaughter Madison. Also leaving to mourn his sisters and brothers, including special sister Violet (Alfred Thomas); as well as a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. -12 noon Saturday. Funeral Service to take place 2 p.m. Saturday, December 14, 2002 from Barrett`s Chapel. Devoted husband of thirty-two years to Joanne (nee Montalto); adored father to James Patrick and Jacqueline Kelly; beloved son of Ellen (nee Kely) and Del Comeau; son-in-law to Rose and Sal Montalto; loving brother to Sandra Casateli, Elaine O`Rourke, Marilyn King; cherished brother-in-law to Nick Montalto, Anne Marie Gillen, Dolores Monte, Elaine Mantalto, Tim Casateli, Donald O`Rourke, John King, Doroty Montalto, John Gillen, Kathy Barrett and Dennis Larkin; loving uncle to seven nieces, sixteen nephews and great-uncle to three; treasured friend of many. 'I have not died, I am just waiting on the other side.'

COLLINS, James Patrick - 78, Mulgrave, Guysborough Co., died Saturday, September 9, 2000, in St. Martha`s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in st. Ann`s, Nfld., he was a son of the late James and Bridget (Miller) Collins. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave. He was a retired fisherman employed by National Sea Products, Canso, retiring as a mate on the Canso Trawlers. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and his two little dogs. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are daughters: Doreen (Pat) Fougere, Canso, Mary, Enfield; sons: James (Linda), Mulgrave, Donald (Robin), Edmonton, Alta.; sister, Frances (John) Pomeroy, Pleasant Hill; brothers: Gerald (Joan) Mulgrave, Raymond (Evelyn), Ontario, Felix (Janet), Don and Vince, all of St. John`s, Nfld., Leonard and Brandon (Mary), all of Placentia, Nfld.; grandchildren: Tanya, Lisa, Jennifer, Savanna, Brandon and Amanda. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Kathleen Ryan; son Gerald in fancy; grandsons, Glenn Allen in infancy; sister Helen; two sisters in infancy. Funeral Mass was held at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church at Mulgrave with the Rev. Hugh MacNeil officiating, and he was carried to rest by his former shipmates and fishing buddies on September 13.

FLEMING, Ita - Passed peacefully away on Thursday, December 12, 2002 at St. Clare`s Hospital, Ita Fleming of St. Vincent`s, S.M.B., in her 85th year. Predeceased by her husband John, 1998; infant daughter Edna, 1935; son Frank (Earl), 1999; parents John and Rose Hayward; sister Theresa Fleming and brothers: Leonard, Raymond and Joseph. Leaving to mourn and celebrate her life are five daughters: Lillian (Joe Parrott), Imelda Critch, Carmel (Joe Whitty), Ethel (Greg Davis), London, Ont., Caroline, St. John`s; seven sons: Christopher, Joseph (Collette), St. Vincent`s, Vincent, St. John`s, John (Marrion), Stephenville, Ed (Joan), London, Ont., Sylvester (Susan), Calgary, Gary (Paula), Gaskiers; daughter-in-law Cathy, St. John`s; thirty grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; brothers: Ron (Helen), Clar (Ruth), Walter; sisters-in-law: Mary Curtis, Lucy Hayward, Marge Hayward. She will be sadly missed by a large circle of relatives and close friends, especially Vonnie Neville and her caretakers at Neville`s Seniors Home, St. Mary`s. Remains resting at Stamp`s Funeral Home, St. Vincent`s, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. -9:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial from Sacred Heart Church, St. Vincent`s, Monday, December 16th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow R.C. cemetery , St. Vincent`s. And while she lies in peaceful sleep, Her memory we shall always keep.

Resting at Moore`s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts. Visitation Friday 2-5 p.m., 6-8 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, December 14, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. from Moore`s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts. Interment in the St. John the Evangelist Anglican cemetery , Coley`s Point. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer`s Society.

The family will receive visitors at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Funeral service will be held from St. Lawrence Anglican Church on Sunday, December 15, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. with interment to follow in St. Peter`s Anglican cemetery , Portugal Cove.
