THOMPSON, Elsie Gwendolyn (nee Bussey) - Of Birch Hills, Bay Roberts (September 28, 1954 - June 21, 2001). A woman of quiet courage, deep faith and great kindness passed away at the Health Sciences Complex on June 21, 2001 in her 46th year. Predeceased by her father Louis Bussey (1995). Gwen leaves to mourn their loss and celebrate her life devoted husband of 25 years Leonard Thompson, son Murray, aged 23 years, daughter Emilie, aged 20 years, all of Birch Hills; mother Doris Bussey, sisters Betty Lundrigan (Doug), Marguerite Bussey (friend Peter), brothers Louis Bussey (Christine), Larry Bussey (Christine), all of Bay Roberts; mother-in-law Mildred Barrett Thompson, Upper Island Cove, sister-in-law Cavell Pilgrim (Calvin), Birch Hills; nieces Victoria Pilgrim, Desirée Bussey, Sarah Bussey; nephews Mark and Larry Lundrigan, Kurt Pilgrim and Matthew Bussey. Recalling many happy memories are other relatives and a large circle of friends, including the Beaver Bunch. Resting at Moore`s Funeral Home, Bay Roberts on Saturday 10 AM - 10 PM and Sunday 10 - 12 Noon. Funeral service on Sunday, June 24, 2001 at 2:00 PM at the Salvation Army Citadel, Bay Roberts, Majors Clyde and Helen Guy officiating. Floral tributes or donations to either the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre would be appreciated. BUTT, Gordon Sr. - Of Carbonear, passed away peacefully at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear, Nfld. Wednesday, June 20, 2001. Mr. Butt was 89 years old. He leaves to mourn his loving Family: wife Irene; children: daughters: Jean (George) Anthony, Grand Falls-Winsor, NF, Joan (Dan) Burke, Carbonear, NF; sons: Gordon (Florence) Jr., Moses (Francis), Bruce, Gary (Joanne), all of Carbonear, NF; a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, relatives and friends. Predeceased Family: wife Lillian; sons: George, Donald and Herbert; parents: Maude and George Butt. DAWE, William Albert - 92, of New Minas, Kings co. passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2001 in Wolfville Nursing Home, Wolfville, NS. Born in Port De Grave, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Morgan) Dawe. He worked as an office manager with Asarco in Buchans, Newfoundland for 40 years. In 1976 he and his wife moved to New Minas and spent their winter months in Florida. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Ken-Wo Golf and Country Club, New Minas; the Gyro Club, and the St. James Anglican Church, Kentville. He is survived by nieces: Lorraine MacLaughlin and Florence Pippy, both of St. John`s; Jean Boyd, Brantford, Ont.; Norma Elliott, Ottawa, Ont.; nephew Reg Elford, Bedford. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Olive Field; brother Harold; sisters: Winnie and Ella. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2001 both in the H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Kentville. Father John Scott officiating. Interment in the Anglican Church cemetery , Port De Grave, Nfld. at a later date. LANDELLS, Elizabeth (nee Cullen) - Passed peacefully away, after a courageous 33 year battle with breast cancer, at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare`s Hospital, on June 20, 2001, surrounded by her loving family. Predeceased by her parents Stan and Matilda (O`Driscoll) Cullen; her brothers: Stan and Bob Cullen; and sister Peg Renouf. She leaves to mourn her husband of 50 years, Dr. David Landells; sons: Colin (D`Arcy) and Ian (Lisa); and her grandchildren: Catherine, Graham, Fiona and Elizabeth. She will also be sorely missed by dear family and friends in Newfoundland and around the world. Betty was born in St. John`s on July 23, 1923 and received her education at the Academy of Our Lady of Mercy and Memorial College. She selflessly dedicated her life to her husband and family, and her kindness and empathy touched the lives of many over the years. Her family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Jennifer Hall, the staff of the Palliative Care Unit and the nurses of TLC. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road.
