Trickett, Marion Louise

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre with her family by her side, Marion Louise Trickett, aged 85 years. Predeceased by her infant grandson Bradley Butler, parents Fred and Laura Locke, and brother Roy Locke. Left with fond and loving memories her loving husband of 58 years Lewis Trickett; daughter Janet (Wayde) Butler; son Gary Trickett (Judi); grandchildren Gina Trickett (fiancé Brian), Mark Trickett (friend Jenny), Brandon Butler (fiancé Alyssa), and Jared Butler (friend Jill); sister Margaret (Walter) Hamlyn; brother Ewart Locke (Diane); and many other loving relatives and friends. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Admiral’s Coast Retirement Centre, as well as the staff in the emergency department at the Health Sciences Centre. Cremation has taken place. Visitation is scheduled at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Sunday, April 24th, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m and 7 – 9 p.m, and Monday, April 25th, 2016 from 12 – 2 p.m and 7 – 9 p.m. A funeral service to celebrate Marion’s life will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Parish, Topsail on Tuesday, April 26th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment to follow at the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Marion’s memory may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Crewe, Annie

Passed peacefully away at Saint Luke’s Homes on April 20, 2016, Annie Crewe (nee Roberts), aged 103 years. Predeceased by her parents Alexander and Beatrice (nee Hill), Husband Chesley (1977), sisters Maud and Della, brothers Robert (Sadie) Cecil and Gordon. Leaving with special memories brother Fred (Margaret) Dartmouth, N.S., nephews David Roberts (Cathy) Jeddore N.S., Alex Crewe (Joyce) CBS and John (Grace) St. John’s, several grand nieces and nephews. Special friends Rosemary and David Parsons and Bev and Frank Lee, St. John’s Special thanks for almost 30 years of friendship and care from Staff and residents of Saint Luke’s Homes. Visitation at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on April 23, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. Cremation to follow. Funeral service to take place on April 24, 2016 at 3:00 pm from Saint Luke’s Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund of the Anglican Church of Canada.

Leaman, Fred

Passed peacefully away on April 19, 2016, Gottfred (Fred) Kenneth Leaman, aged 80 years. Predeceased by parents Cyril and Greta Leaman; and brother, Cyril Leaman (Evelyn). Leaving to mourn wife of 40 years Doreen; daughters Stephanie Bennett (Sheldon) and Heather (Dominic O’Dea); Pop Pop’s pride and joy granddaughter Annabelle; mother in law Joan Masters (Samuel deceased); sisters Marie Burton (Ed deceased), Lucy Taylor (Bill), Glad Press (George), Kay Noseworthy (Bill); brother Art Leaman (Sonia deceased); sisters in law Wendy Collett (Norman), Beryl Menchenton (Bruce); brother in law Brian Masters (Sherry); best friends Mike Cahill (Nina) and Dion Goodyear; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially at WHSCC. Special thanks to the doctors and staff at Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre and Palliative Care Unit for their kindheartedness and compassion shown towards Fred during his time with them. Visitation at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place on Friday April 22 at 11:00 am from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. No flowers by request. Donations in Fred’s name may be made to Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre.

Godden, Margaret (Pearl)

Godden, Margaret (Pearl) - Passed peacefully away on April 16th, 2016 at Tiffany Village, Margaret (Pearl) Godden, aged 91 years. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, raised in a loving family, cared for the critically injured during WWII, followed her love across the pond in 1950, raised four children who love each other dearly, each one with their own beautiful family; much due to the love and care provided by a wonderful mother. Predeceased by her husband Thomas Godden. Left to mourn with loving memories her children Janet Fudge (Dave) and their children Heather (Michael Greenwood) (Greatgrandchild Alistair) and Matthew; Sandra Facey (Nick) and their children Nicola (Fraser Clift) and Sarah; Tom (Heather) and their children Luke and Drew; Bob (Natalie) and their children Graham and Nathan; sister Betty and many family members in Scotland; as well as friends and relatives in Newfoundland, throughout Canada and the US. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, April 26th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, April 27th at 11 a.m. with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Rest in peace Mum.

Reid, Christina Marie

Passed away on April 15, 2016 after a long and very heroic battle with cancer, Christina Marie Reid aged 48 years. Christina leaves to mourn her loving and very devoted husband, Chris; her son, Andrew who was her total pride and joy; loving mother, Patsy Ridgley (Philip Fitzgerald); sister Patti-Ann (Stephen Locke) and their children Ryan (Lisa), Holly and Stephanie; brothers Tony (Laurel) and their children AJ and Luke; Michael (Cherie) and their children Matthew and Daniel; mother-in-law and father-in-law Hazel and Bernard Reid; brother-in-law Jeff; sisters-in-law Susan (Rick Worthman) and their son Josh; and Kimberley Reid. Also mourning her passing are uncles, aunts, cousins and many friends, including special friend Linda Evans Durnford. Heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful staff of 4 North B, Health Sciences Centre for their exceptional care and compassion; to Dr. William Pollett, and to her friends Dr. Stewart Rorke and Dr. Alex Mathieson, her faithful physicians on her journey; to the wonderful team at Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre who contributed so much to her comfort during the course of her illness. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Sunday, April 17th, 2016 and Monday April 18th, 2016 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday April 19th, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Patrick’s Church, Patrick Street. Christina has requested that instead of flowers you send a donation to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre.

Rodway, Wayne P.Eng

Passed away suddenly on Wednesday April 13, 2016. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Gladys Rodway. Leaving to mourn his wife of 37 years Merlee, his two sons Chris and Nick, sister Ruth Baldwin (Ed), niece Andrea Baldwin-Latincic, nephew James Baldwin, great niece and nephew Aiva and Zack, sister-in-law Janice Hopkins (Rick) and their children Corey and Darryl Hopkins (Didi), special friends Jim and Sharon Ransom and their children Aaron and Frances, a large circle of relatives and friends. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home 1045 Topsail Rd. on Friday from 10 – 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 16, 2016 at Church of the Good Shepherd at 2p.m. Interment to follow in Anglican Cemetery Kenmount Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Church of the Good Shepherd or a charity of one’s choice.

Dudley, Kenneth Roy

KENNETH ROY DUDLEY- (NOVEMBER 15, 1935 - APRIL 13, 2016) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family. Predeceased by his parents William and Edith Dudley, and brothers Don and Pete. Left with many happy memories are Kenneth’s devoted wife of 56 years Shirley (Barbour); daughter, Bertha Tina (Calvin) Ivany; son, Roy (Margaret) Dudley; also his much loved grandchildren Emily and Brandon Ivany; and Holly and Millie Dudley. Also celebrating his life are his sisters, Marie Gaze, Mavis Cavill and Maureen Yarwood and a large circle of family and friends, particularly his hunting and fishing buddies. Ken was born in England, and joined the merchant navy at 16 years of age. He travelled the world for many years, but eventually landed in St. John’s, Newfoundland. An avid outdoorsman and fisherman he immediately fell in love with the rivers and woods of Newfoundland, but most of all he fell in everlasting love with Shirley, who he was devoted to supporting and caring for until the very end despite his failing health. He was a wonderful and extremely generous husband, father, grandfather, friend and role model. Always incredibly strong, brave, and proud, he lived and died on his own terms. He will be greatly missed, but our joyous memories of him will comfort us always. Special thanks to the compassionate nurses and doctors at St. Clare’s ICU. Visitation at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday, April 16th, 2016 from 2 – 4 p.m. with a Prayer Service to follow at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.

Lawlor, Leonard Calvin

Leonard Calvin Lawlor Passed peacefully away on April 12th, 2016, Leonard Calvin Lawlor, aged 72. Predeceased by his parents Leo and Janet Lawlor and brother Roy. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories of 50 years his wife Patricia; son Barry (Marge); daughter Lenora (Todd); grandchildren Dwane (Amanda), Siovhan (Ian), Shane (April), Jason (Melissa), Stephen and Cassandra; 2 great granddaughters Mallorie and Kylie; brothers Harold (Olga), Billy (Tina), Dan (Lori), Nelson (Dawn), Leo, Sandy, Steve (Ann), Calvin (Lana), Phillip and Michael; sister Winnie (Ron), Agnes (Freeman), Joan (David) and Judy (Ed); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. A special mention to Leo Hamilton and the staff of Hamilton’s Grocery who always went above and beyond for Len. Thanks to the nurses of 5 South B for the special care you gave him these last few days. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Thursday, April 14th, from 2-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
