Doyles, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Mary Catherine (Kay) Gale announces her passing on Sunday, November 7th, 2010 at the Charles L. LeGrow Centre in Port Aux Basques at the age of 90 years. She was predeceased by her husband: Walter J. Gale; son: Francis Gale; brothers: Bill Chaisson, Gerard (Kay) Chaisson; sister: Rita (Stan) MacDonald; granddaughter: Dianna (Bernard) Downey and daughter-in-law: Mary (Mamie) Gale. Leaving to mourn are her sons: Kevin (Joan) Gale, Melvin (Colleen) Gale and Brian (Lorna) Gale; grandchildren: Corinne, Glen, Stephanie, Melanie, Adam, Scott, Courtney, Jeffrey, Megan and Mark; great grandchildren: Carla, Ryan, Marissa, Trevor, Kail, Halle and Evan; sister: Terry (John) Barany; step-brother: Hubert (Aggie) Walters; sisters-in-law: Marg Chaisson, Geraldine Gale; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and cherished friends. Visitation will take place from St. Ann’s Parish in Upper Ferry, Codroy Valley, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. from where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 9th at 2:00 p.m. Father’s Maurice O’Quinn and Edward Terry officiating, followed by interment at Mount St. Thomas cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to the Dialysis Unit of Dr. Charles L. LeGrow Health Centre, Port Aux Basques. Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of Shirley Alteen announces her passing on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the age of 83 years. Shirley was a fabulous wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her hallmark grace and kindness will be remembered fondly. This was reciprocated by many who knew her, including those who attended to her care in her later years. Shirley leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her children: Robert (Bob) Alteen (Janice Higgins), Corner Brook; Glenn Alteen, Vancouver, BC; Peter Alteen (Kathy Alexander), St. John’s, NL; Donna Alteen (Tasso Dikaios), Halifax, NS; Doug Alteen (Brenda), Ottawa, Ont. Granddaughters, Katerina & Elena Dikaios (Donna), Susan & Clare Alteen (Peter), Sydney & Renee Alteen (Doug). Sisters, Jean Matheson, St. John, NB & Verna Pollett, Boca Raton, Fla; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Shirley was predeceased by her loving husband of 58 years, Douglas, her parents Stella and Chesley Woodman, brothers Lloyd, George and Guy and sister Marise. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 8, 2010 2-4PM and 7-9 PM at Fillitres Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Church, Main Street, Rev. Michael Rice officiating. Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bride Sheppard announce her passing on Friday, October 29th, 2010 at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home at the age of 93 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her three sons: Pamel (Marie), Summerside, Lonzo, Irishtown, Duke (Joanne), Kitchener, ON; three daughters: Pauline Carnahan (George), Saint John, NB, Patsy Wheeler (Douglas), Summerside and Juanita Bienvenue (Jean-Guy), Montreal, QC; 21 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son Rex and daughter-in-law Linda; and daughter-in-law: Audrey. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, November 1st at 10:30 A.M. from All Hallows Roman Catholic Church, Humber Road, Monsignor Edwin Gale officiating, followed by interment at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Lourdes.
