LOIE CHIN (nee Brake)
December 28th, 1919 - January 24th, 2008
Corner Brook, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Loie Chin (nee Brake) announce her passing at the Interfaith Home For Seniors, Corner Brook on Thursday, January 24th, 2008 at the age of 88 years. She will be sadly missed by her two sons Robert (Juanita), Pasadena and Kenny (Carolanne), Halifax; daughter Helen MacDonald, Ontario; daughter-in-law Cecilia Chin, Corner Brook. Loie will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, survived by brother Leonard. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, 6 brothers, parents Charlie and Helen, son Freeman, first husband George Yook and best friend and companion Hudson King. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Sunday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 PM. There will be a private family service on Monday, January 28th. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy no flowers by request of the family, donations may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.

Meadows, NL - Passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family, Eric Brake on Wednesday, September 19th, 2007, at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 75. Leaving to mourn: his loving companion: Loretta; children: Beulah (Peter) Puddester, Linda (Kenneth) Hann, Randy (Christine) Brake, Nancy (Ross) Fillier, Eric (Vicky) Brake, Barry Brake and Joannie (Elliott) Gillingham; Loretta’s children: Ben Gillingham (Audrey) and Reg Gillingham (Darlene); sisters: Ada Parsons, Elsie Legge, Cedella Legge and Marjorie Coakwell; grandchildren: Matthew, Crystal, Corey, Danny, Deanne, Jeffery, Ryan, Adam, Jill, Nicholas, Drew, Sarah, Julie, Cole, Lorne, Kayla and Anthony; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by parents: Bryant and Caroline Brake; and brothers Devine and Bryant. Funeral service to be held on Sunday, September 23rd at 1:00 p.m. from Holy Trinity Church, Meadows. Reverend Malcolm Palmer officiating. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. William Butt
Pinware, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late William Butt announce his passing at the Long Term Care Unit in Forteau on Saturday, December 8th, 2007 at the age of 66 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories sons: Mario (Lorenda), Clayton (Colleen) and Llyal; daughters: Clare (Alex), Patsy (Boyd), Darlene (Danny), Leona (Mitch) and Rene; 14 grandchildren; three brothers; five sisters, as well as a large circle of other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Eben and Maud Butt and brothers Donald and Clifford. Visitation took place at the Community Centre in Pinware on Sunday and Monday from where the Funeral Service was held on Tuesday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dean Sellars officiating. Interment followed in the United Church Cemetery in Pinware. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Homes Ltd., L’Anse au Loup.
ROSALEEN WALSH (nee Byrne)
January 25th, 1935 - June 22nd, 2007
Corner Brook, NL - Today we mourn the passing of a beautiful lady. Together we celebrate her life. On Friday, June 22nd, 2007 Rosaleen Walsh (nee Byrne) peacefully passed away at the age of 72 years, in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Rosaleen leaves to mourn her husband James and her 11 children: Brian Walsh, Joanne Brake (Wayne), Rosalind McCarthy (Brent), Jim Walsh (Sandra), Paul Walsh, Maxine Tapp, Sean Walsh, Wayne Walsh, Tony Walsh, Michelle Walsh (Murray) and Trudy Walsh (Robert). Rosaleen was blessed with 13 grandchildren whom she held close to her heart. They are Eliot Walsh, Theresa and Kenneth Walsh (Donna), Jason Walsh, Samantha McCarthy, Sarah Walsh, A.J. Brake, Shane Walsh, Sabrina Tapp, Matthew McCarthy, Brittney Colson (Liz), Leah Walsh and Liam Jones. Rosaleen’s beloved family includes her sister Theresa Murphy (Dennis), Rita McGregor (Gary), and brothers Bernard Byrne (Mary) and Joseph Byrne (Marie) and their families. Rosaleen is predeceased by her parents Patrick and Mary (Callahan) Byrne, siblings Lena Humphries (William), Marie Byrne, Harry Byrne (Agnes), William Byrne and niece Denise Humphries. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Friday from the hours of 7-9 PM. The mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 2:00 PM from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue with Father Joseph Gash officiating. Cremation will follow at Humber Valley Crematorium. The interment will take place on Monday, June 25th at 11:00 AM from Mount Patricia Cemetery. Passed peacefully away at his family residence on Thursday, May 24th 2007 WILLIAM BYRNE at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family. Left to mourn with fond and loving memories sisters: Rosaleen (James) Walsh & their children: Brian, Joanne, Rosalind, Jimmy, Paul, Maxine, Sean, Wayne, Tony, Michelle & Trudy, with whom he resided for 40 years, Theresa (Dennis) Murphy, Rita (Gary) McGregor; brothers: Bernard (Mary), Joseph (Marie), as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Mary & Patrick, sisters: Lena (William) Humphries, Marie Byrne, brother Harry (Agnes), nephew Max Layden, niece Denise Humphries. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, May 26th at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mt.
