Cox’s Cove, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wade Turner announce his passing while surrounded by his loving wife and family on Monday, March 26th, 2012 at the Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 67 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife: Gloria; Cox’s Cove; children: Cheryl Turner (Gary), Fort Nelson, BC, Charlene Turner (Shelley), Creston, BC, and Darryl Turner, Fort Nelson, BC; parents: Doug and Jean Turner, Fort Nelson, BC; sister: Judy (Stan Sutherland), Alberta; sister-in-law: Ann Turner, Grand Prairie, AB; mother-in-law: Connie Ashdown, Fort Nelson, BC; step children: Jodie Kendell (Mike), Cox’s Cove and Marcelle Kendell (Gerri-Lynn), Fort Nelson, BC; grandchildren: Katelyn, Molly, Casey, Ryan, Tyson and Andrew; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his first wife, Doreen Turner and brother, Dale Turner. Visitation will take place from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Tuesday, 7-9:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 29th at 11:00 A.M. from Fillatre’s Chapel, St. Marks Avenue, Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. Cox’s Cove, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Dallas Hussey announce her passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Saturday, March 24th, 2012 at the age of 70 years. She leaves to mourn her daughter Trudy Barnes, Blenheim, ON; two sons: Perry (Kay), Brampton, ON and Peter (Patricia), Marystown; one granddaughter: Kelly (Shawn) and their children John and Hanna; one grandson: Michael (Stephanie); adopted granddaughter: Shelda (Joey) and their children William and Ethan; adopted grandson: Brad and his children: Brooklyn, Madison and Jayden; son-in-law: Michael Barnes; sister-in-law: Janey Keatings, Stephenville; brother-in-law: Douglas (Dinah) Hussey, Cox’s Cove; two aunts: Bertha Parsons, Moncton, NB and Georgina (Max) Curtis, Cox’s Cove; uncle: Willie (Mercedes) Wells, Corner Brook; caregiver: Beverly Wheeler and close friends: David and Glyness Wells and special nephew, Dennis Barnes; Cox’ s Cove. Dallas is predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Alpheus (2005), infant daughter (1959), mother Jessie (2004), father Henry (1978), infant brother Willie (1938); mother-in-law: Emma (1973) and father-in-law: William (1975). She leaves a large circle of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will begin on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. from Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Cox’s Cove where she served as organist for 60 years. Visitation will continue on Monday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-11 A.M. followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor William Sampson officiating. Gordon Joseph Staples
March 11, 1933 – March 22, 2012
Corner Brook, NL - It is with the deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Gordon Joseph Staples in his 79th year. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed just being in the woods he was a skillful angler and hunter. He excelled in many sports but most notably baseball, hockey and soccer. He gave back to the community through a lengthy tenure as a coach and president of the Corner Brook Minor Hockey Association. He was also an accomplished bridge player and enjoyed the challenges associated with this complex game. In his later years he enjoyed his time spent with his grandsons Gavin and Gordon and special friends Alex and Andrew Payne. Leaving to mourn his daughter Debbie (Johnny Brooks), Toronto; sons Bernie (Laeora Ryba), Steady Brook; and Kevin (Darlene Welsh) Corner Brook; grandsons Gavin and Gordon Staples; special friends Alex and Andrew Payne; Cody and Brittany Hutchings; brother Sylvester “Syb” (Louise nee Noseworthy) and sister Helen Hachè (Roger) as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his father John, mother Julia (Caines) and brother in law Roger Hachè. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Stephen Murphy and Dr. Krista Fudge as well as all the nurses from the Renal Dialysis Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital who provided him with excellent care and companionship over the last 11 years. Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Sunday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 and Monday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 27 at 10:30 am at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer on Mt. Bernard Avenue with Father Ambrose Hynes officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation in aid of the Renal Dialysis Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
Lareen Penashue
1975-2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Lareen Penashue announce her passing on March 21, 2012 at the Labrador Health Centre at the age of 36 years. She will be sadly missed by her mother Theresa and her daughter Jenica, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father Gregory Penashue. Friends visited Fillatres Funeral Home on Wednesday March 21 from 7 to 9 p.m..Visitation will be held on Thursday and Friday from her residence in Sheshatshiu. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday March 24 from Our Lady Of Snow R.C. Church in Sheshatshiu with the interment to follow at the R.C. Cemetery Sheshatshiu.
Audrey A. Wareham
1940-2012
On Friday, March 16th, 2012, Audrey Wareham at the age of 71, passed peacefully away at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility in the presence of her family. Audrey was predeceased by her husband and best friend of 50 years, George Wareham, daughter Dianne Wareham, son-in-law Sean O’Brien and parents William and Beatrice MacDonald . She will be lovingly remembered by her 5 children: Deborah Caines (Thomas), Eileen O’Brien (Johnny), Kim Jesso (Hal), George Wareham, Donald Wareham (Tamara); grandchildren: Thomas (Lisa), Michael (Heather), Jonathan, Sean (Jennifer), Krista (Scott), Jacob (Christina), Dianne (Phil), Michael (Bailey), Stephanie (Rodney), Stephen, Brady, Riley, Keegan, Ashley and Madison; 13 great grandchildren; brothers: Kevin MacDonald (Shirley), Billy MacDonald (Linda); brothers & sisters-in-law Dorothy Pike, Ruby McGinn (Bob), Lorraine Dowden (Cyril), Louise Strickland, Daffodil Wareham, Lloyd Wareham (Gaye), as well as numerous other relatives and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 19th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Curling Street Father Edmund Camacho officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home 218 Curling Street Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Corner Brook, NL - Passed peacefully away after a short but courageous battle with cancer, Joseph A. Murphy on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 71 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 48 years Muriel (nee Payne); children: George, Derek (Annette) and Susan (Chris) Pittman; grandchildren: Joshua, Laura, Tamara, Nichola, Joseph and Julie; sisters and brother: Anne Mercer, Christina (Baden) Cunning, Rose (Dennis) Russell, Ray (Betty) Murphy, Eva (Robert) Newhook and Josephine (Dave) Billard; sisters and brothers-in-law: Maxine Murphy, Thelma (Frank) Hutchings, Marion Kennedy, Gwen Slauson, Jesse (Grace) Payne, Jean (George) Hewlin, Derek (Elaine) Payne and Jacqueline (Max) King; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Aloysius and Josephine Murphy, brothers Mike and George Murphy. A special thank you to Dr. Chris Whitten, Dr. Cliff Westby and the excellent staff of 2nd floor surgery and the palliative care unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. Doyles, NL - It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Downey announce his unexpected passing on Saturday, March 10th, 2012 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Codroy Valley where he resided. His railroad career began in Halifax, NS, he transferred to Newfoundland, where he spent the majority of his career. He loved his work with the railway for 35 years until it’s closure in 1988. He was very active with the Union to support his co-workers. He had a passion for hobby farming, music and song writing. He had written over 70 songs, with some recorded. He always enjoyed politics and a good debate. His love and support for his family was unwavering. He leaves to mourn wife Martha; 9 children: Debra (Doug) Webber, Andy (Juanita), Walter, Gloria (Terry) Chaulk, Mary (Brian) Welshman, Martin, Agnes, Joan (Gary Kelland), Teresa (Bob) Teskey; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers: Jerome (Rosemary) and Joseph; sisters Theresa Cashin, Kathleen (Kevin) Barry, Anne MacNeil, Lucy (James) Briggs as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents Theresa and James; brothers: Edward, Bernard and Anthony; sisters: Frances MacIsaac, Cecilia Hall and Sister Mary Andrina. The family would like to express their thanks for the excellent care James received from the nurses and doctors at Dr. Charles LeGrow Health Centre and Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
