Arthur James Abbott
July 16, 1948 - July 28, 2020
Passed suddenly but peacefully away on July 28, 2020 at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre after a very brief 6 week illness, just 12 days after his 72nd birthday.
Predeceased by his parents: Ida and Stan Abbott; sister: Jean Critch and brother Charlie.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife and best friend Violet (nee Flynn), one son Frank; stepson Derek (Tanya) Flynn; the pride and joy of his life his two grandsons: Michael and Dawson, and his two fur babies. Also, left to mourn brothers: Fred (Carmel), Don (Barb), Earl (Sharon); sisters-in-laws: Doreen, Phyllis and Jan; many nieces, nephews and his special fishing buddies.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and care, Sarah Batter community nurse, our home care workers: Lynn, Linda, Christine and Samantha. Rev. Karen Thorne we thank you for your daily visits and prayers.
Arthur was such a great jolly man who was loved and gone way to soon.
At Arthur’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home 73 Commonwealth Ave., Mt. Pearl on Monday, August 3, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Covid -19 restrictions in place. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. from Barrett's Mt. Pearl Chapel. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made in Arthur’s memory to the S.P.C.A.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his mother; Linda Clarke & father; Byron Butt Sr., siblings; Adam, Melissa (niece; Brianna), Aunts and Uncles; Dwight (Joyce), Ellen (Mike), Alice (Otto), Judy (Carter), Joan (Elvis), Francis (Tammy), Leo (Adelle), Mary (Baxter),, Gail White (Kenny), Brenda Vokey, Rose Clarke (Paul), Debbie (Muriel), Doris (Raymond), Carol Ann, Winston (Helen), Randy Crocker (Muriel), and Robert, grandmother; Mary Casey, step grandfather Francis Griffin, special cousins; Keith (Sabrina), John (Vanessa), Jamie (Sherry) and their families, special god son Cameron, exceptional friend Tonya as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Visitation will take place at Country Haven Funeral Home, 167 Country Road on Saturday, March 20, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, March 21, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at St. John The Evangelist Anglican Church, Main Street on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Michael Rice officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.
