Douglas Leslie Steele

Passed peacefully away at the Hoyles Home on Saturday, July 19, 2003, after a courageous battle with ALS, Douglas Leslie Steele, aged 61 years.
Predeceased by his son Douglas (2000); mother Myrtle (1999) and father Overton (1990) . Leaving to mourn his devoted wife Bernice of 39 years; two daughters: Karen Gulliver and son-in-law Sean and Annette Eason and husband Bert. As well poppy's five beautiful grandchildren: Parker, Jaxson, and Raygan Gulliver and Bradley and Blake Eason. Leaving behind six sisters: Ruby Tizzard (St. John's), Kay and Gill Parsons (Dartmouth), Ruth and Ron Cook (St. John's), Marge and Jerry Motter (Ohio), Sandra and Garfield Dale (St. John's) and Glenda and Terry McKinney (Kelowna); and Doug's only brother and best friend Bill and Gwen Steele (Goulds); also numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the staff at Hoyles Home for their exceptional care and compassion given to Doug during his illness. You will be forever remembered. Also, special thanks to Doug's immediate family for their support and personal sacrifices during Doug's illness.
Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 2-5 p.m. and 7-9pm on Sunday and from 10am-1pm, 3-5pm and 7-9pm on Monday. Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 22, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Teresa's Parish, Mundy Pond. Cremation to follow. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hoyles Home.

Harry Stanford

Stanford, Thomas (Harry) - passed peacefully away at St. Clares Mercy Hospital on Thursday, July 17, 2003, Harry Stanford age 85 years.
Left with fond and loving memories are his wife Madeline, one son James and special friend Margie, one daughter Marilyn Zinck (Andrew), one grandson Nicholas Zinck, four sister’s; Madeline Williams, Elizabeth Ronayne, Rita O’Neil and Stella Edney as well as three half sister’s; Rosemary Stanford, Joan Dutile (Mitch), and Enid O’Brien (Cyril), nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. Cremation has taken place.
There will be no visitation. Funeral mass to take place 11 A.M., Saturday, July 19, 2003 from Mary Queen of the World Church, Topsail Road, Mount Pearl. Inurnment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Following Inurnment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, the family will be receiving relatives and friends at Mary Queen of the World Meeting Room. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Spina Bifida Association or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangement’s entrusted to Barrett’s Funeral Home.

Doris (Taylor) Snelgrove

Passed peacefully away after a brief illness, at St. Clare`s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, October 1st, 2003, Doris Snelgrove, in her 81st year.
A devoted member of George Street United Church Choir for 64 years.
Predeceased by her precious daughter Sandra in 1964; parents, David and Jessie Taylor and brothers: Raymond and Hedley Taylor.
Beloved wife of Graham; dear mother of Dr. Keith (Alice) and devoted grandmother of Andrew, Jessica, Gregory, Cherry, Joanna and Matthew; also, leaving to mourn her sisters: Eva Wells, Marian Downton, Ruby Haley and Phyllis Pollock; her brothers: Fred Taylor (Florence), Augustus Taylor (Sandra), Harold Taylor (Marilyn) and David Taylor (Eleanor); also leaving to mourn sisters-in-law: Gertrude Taylor, Emma (Peggy) Snelgrove and Ruby Learning (Robert); also mourned by a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends.
Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, Thursday, October 2nd and Friday, October 3rd from 2-5 p.m. and 7-10 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 10-12 noon. Funeral service to be held at George Street United Church on Saturday, October 4th at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In her memory, flowers are gratefully accepted or a donation may be made to a charity of one`s choice.

Desmond R. Single

Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on Saturday, July 19, 2003, Desmond R. Single. Aged 85 years.
Predeceased by his wife Annie M. Single (Nee Laing) . Leaving to mourn his son Ralph wife Marsha (Nee Henneburry) residing in New Hampshire, U.S.A.; sister Florence Single (Malcolm); brother Frank (Ruth) (Nee Button); sister-in-law Ruby Laing; special friend Melvina Sheppard; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Sunday from 7-9pm and on Monday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Tuesday from 10am-12noon. Funeral service to be held from Topsail United Church on Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. Interment to follow at Topsail United Church Cemetery. No flowers by request. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Topsail United Church Cemetery Fund.

Ronald Robert Rose

Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by his loving family, on September 24, 2003, age 75 years.
Predeceased by his loving wife Rita, April 2002; father Stan; mother Gertrude; sister Irene and brother Angus. Leaving to mourn with treasured memories, son Ron Jr. (Judy); daughters: Debbie Chaytor (Garry), Dianne Penney (Selby), Lori O`Keefe (Patrick); also leaving to mourn their cherished poppy are his grandchildren: Devin, Susan, John (Jacquie), Terry (Angie), Dani, Jennifer, Chris, Patrick and Ashley; great-grandchildren: Travis and Makayla. He is also lovingly remembered by his brother Melvin (Marg); sister Lorraine Falcon; brother-in-law John Moore (Barbara); sisters-in-law: Phoebe Mullett and Leni Rose and many nieces and nephews. Special lifetime friends, Bud and Elva Parsons and Jim and Bette Tobin.
A very special thank you to his neighbors - Barry, Chris, Katie and Jessica Langer, who he loved like his own. Also special thanks to the staff of 4 South A at HSC and the wonderful doctors and nurses of the Palliative Care Unit.
Visitation will take place at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Thursday from 7-10 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-10 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon. Funeral announcement to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made in his memory to the Palliative Care Unit, Leonard A. Miller Centre.

Mary Patricia Rose (Foley)

Passed peacefully away at the Health Science Center, on Thursday, October 2nd, 2003, Mary Patricia Rose Foley. Aged 58 years.
Predeceased by her father David Foley. Leaving to mourn her husband Merve Rose; her mother Mary Foley; sons: Roy (Joanne), Eric and Pat; daughters: Joanne (Rick) and Cathy (Andrew); brothers: David (Barb) and Gerald (Carol); sisters Sheila (Les), Gertie (Art), Doris (Bob), Lillian (Al) Jane (Tom), Joanne (Rick) and Shirley (Austin); brothers-in-law: Wayne (Marilyn) and Reg (Jessie); sisters-in-law: Pearl (Jack), Marie (Kevin), Hazel (Francis) and Gladys (Tom); 17 grandchildren; also a large circle of other family and friends.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., Saturday 12 noon - 10 p.m. and Sunday 11a.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral Mass 11 a.m. on Monday, October 6th, 2003, from St. Teresa’s Parish with interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are being gratefully accepted.

Phyllis Robichaud

Robichaud, Phyllis (nee Alyward) - passed peacefully away after a brief illness at St. Clares Mercy Hospital on Friday, July 11, 2003, Phyllis Robichaud age 64 years.
Predeceased by her parents James and Alice Alyward, brother’s; Howard, Phillip, and Pius, sister’s; Mary and Zeta. Left with fond and loving memories are her husband Gil, daughter Renee, son Gil Jr, precious grandchildren Robbie and Heidi, her sister Imelda, brother’s; Jim (Mary) and Gordon (Violet) as well as friend Betty Murphy, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 P.M., Saturday and from 2-4 P.M. and 7-9 P.M., Sunday. Funeral service to take place 10 A.M., Monday, July 14, 2003 from Barrett’s Chapel. Cremation to follow. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to NL Down’s Syndrome Society or to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
