Luetta Meadus

Luetta (nee Marks) (Yates) Meadus passed peacefully away at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home, St. John’s, on Monday, March 24, 2003, Luetta Meadus. Aged 94 years. Predeceased by her husband Edmund, 1976; son Tom, 1990; daughter Heather, 1942; granddaughter Debra Lynn, 1963; and husband Ira Yates, 1986. Left to celebrate Luetta’s life are her daughter Gloria Harding (Bill Dalton); daughter-in-law Rose Meadus; grandchildren: Carolann Harding (Craig Pollett), Tom Meadus (Coretta), Christina Mercer (Geoff), and Robert Grandfield (Margaret); eight great grandchildren: Hollilyn and Hannah Green; Isaac and Benjamin Meadus, William Mercer, Reanna, Julia and Ben Grandfield; stepchildren: Richard Yates (Alma), Marie Crann (Roy), Gertrude Johnson (Wally), Hazel Gunlagson (Brian) and families; also a number of other friends and relatives. A very special thank you to sister Patricia Marie, sister Collette, Dr. Marie O’Dea and the staff at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home who helped us through this difficult time.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4:30 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Cremation to follow. A memorial celebration will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. from Barrett’s Chapel. A private family interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Luetta’s memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home or a charity of one's choice.

Gladys V. (Nee Masters, Grant) Marcotte

Passed peacefully away on Sunday, July 20, 2003 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital after a short battle with Cancer, surrounded by her loving family, Gladys V. Marcotte.
Predeceased by her husband William (Bill), July 1982; her second husband Armand (Tony), February 1998; and her daughter Lorraine, December 2000; stepson Louie Marcotte, July 2003.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her five daughters: Patricia (Ray), New York, Geraldine Parker, New York, Antoinette (Cyril), St. John's, Barbara Martin Kovic, Connecticut, Charlotte (Clifton), St. John's; son-in-law James Brophy, St. John's; two step daughters: Dorothy and Ellen, Brigus South; stepson Michael, St. John's; three brothers: James (Mabel), William (Doreen), and Levi (Carol); sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; also a large number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
Mass of Christian Burial to be held from St. Teresa's Parish, Mundy Pond at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2003.
Interment to follow at the Field of Honor, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers gratefully accepted.

Sheila Elizabeth Lynch

Passed peacefully away at Chancellor Park Nursing Home on July 10, 2003, Sheila Elizabeth Lynch, aged 64 years.
Predeceased by her husband Gerald in 1994. Leaving to mourn daughters: Christine (husband Stratford Barrett) and Sandra; grandson Matthew; sister Marie Cleary (husband Joseph), Niagara Falls; brother Gerald Foley (wife Paula), St. John’s; sister-in-law Isabel Foley, St. John’s; special uncle Joe King; special friend Ambrose McGrath; and other relatives and friends.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Friday from 1-4:30pm and 7-9:30pm. Funeral Mass from St. Teresa’s Parish, Mundy Pond on Saturday, July 12, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Leukemia Research Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.

Eileen LeGrow - RN

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Center on March 14, 2003, Eileen LeGrow, aged 59 years.
Predeceased by her parents Victor and Rita Godden and brother Owen. Leaving to mourn her husband Bob; son David; daughter Tracey; two grandchildren: Tyler and Kristen Butt; two sisters: Ann Muhlethaler (Peter), Woodstock, Lorraine Drodge (Eldon), Manheim, ON; sister-in-law Marilyn LeGrow; brother-in-law Bruce LeGrow (Jackie); special friend Marilyn Nickerson; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2003 from Cowan Heights United Church. Inurnment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Cowan Heights United Church Senior Choir and Musical Fund.
Arrangements entrusted to Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue.

Madeline Elma (Wheeler) Layman

Passed peacefully away at the Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home, Clarke’s Beach on Sunday, September 28, 2003, Madeline (Wheeler) Layman in her 80th year.
Predeceased by husbands Thomas wheeler and Reginald Layman; siblings Beryl Thistle, Hilda Thistle and Wallace Manuel. Leaving to mourn children: Carl (Lucy) Wheeler, Bedford, NS, Meta (Ray) Norman, Bay Roberts, Marie (Fred) French, Bay Roberts, Donna (Ed) Stagg, Bay Roberts, Marlene (Don) Boland, Mt. Pearl, Tom (Dianne) Wheeler, Bedford, NS, Paul (Heather) Wheeler, Toronto; grandchildren: Peter Norman, Chris (Gail) Stagg, David Stagg, Cathy (Jamie) O’Neil, Leslie Wheeler and Blair, Fred French, Alison Boland and Damian, Ashley Boland and Jarred, Adam Wheeler and Sarah and Mark Wheeler; special great-grandchildren Nicole and Erinn Stagg; brothers: Kent (Shirley) Manuel, Corner Brook, Tom (Fran) Manuel, Thomaston, Conn.; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Wheeler, Scarborough, Olive Wheeler, Lewisporte, Beatrice Cooze, Topsail; brother-in-law Roy Price, Port Colbourne, ON. Also leaving to mourn many special relatives and friends.
Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday. Funeral service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2003 from Barrett’s Chapel. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Diabetes Association.

Captain F. Morrissey Johnson

Passed away tragically on July 14, 2003 as the result of a motor vehicle accident, Captain F. Morrissey Johnson, aged 70 years.
Predeceased by his mother and father and his brother Gerald.
Leaving to mourn his wife Betty-Ann; daughter Naomi and son Morrissey; first wife Geraldine Johnson and their children: Wayne Johnson and wife Marcella, Gerald Johnson and wife Alva, Zeta Brown and husband Wallace, Kevin and wife Ruby, Keith and wife Debbie, Jennifer, Dwight and wife Karen, Geraldine Russell and husband Fred, Morrissette Denik and husband Nebojsa, Graham and wife Kim; three brothers; three sisters; nineteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; as well as other relatives and friends.
Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday. Funeral Service 10 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2003 from George Street United Church.
Then, a service will take place at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2003 from Bethany United Church, Catalina. Interment will follow in the United Church Cemetery, Catalina. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre or to a charity of one's choice.

Elizabeth Julia Ivey

Passed peacefully away at the Leonard Miller Center, on March 15th, 2003, Elizabeth Julia Ivey. Aged 56 years. Predeceased by her father James Dixon 1969. Leaving to mourn her husband Kenneth (Tom); sons Ken (Charlotte) and Steven (Korie); daughters Judy (Dean), Janet (Randy) and Michelle; her mother Julia Dixon; seven grandchildren; 5 sisters Sadie, Winann, Nora, Anita and Gloria; 7 brothers Stewart, Wilson, Clifford, James, Edward, David and Fred. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends.
Resting At Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave., from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. on Monday. Funeral service from Barrett’s Chapel on Tuesday, March 18th, 2003 at 11 a.m. with cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy Flowers are being gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Cancer Care Clinic.
