LOCKE, Gordon H. - Passed peacefully away at the Bonavista Peninsula Health Centre on October 16, 2002, age 82 years, of Port Rexton. Predeceased by son Ervin. Left with fond and loving memories, wife Joan (nee King), Port Rexton; three sons: Alfred (Theresa), Labrador City, Wayne (Marie), Dunfield, Keith (Ruby), Moncton, NB; one daughter, Donna (Joseph (Bud) Pennell), Toronto, ON; one daughter-in-law, Barbara, Port Rexton; two sisters: Florence Dewling and Evelyn Marsh; one brother-in-law, Gordon King; one sister-in-law, Maxine King; ten grandchildren: one great-grandchild; also other relatives and friends. Resting at the Mortuary Chapel, Trinity. Funeral Service at St. Paul`s Anglican Church, Trinity, October 19, 2002, at 2 p.m. Interment at the Anglican cemetery, Trinity. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Paul`s Anglican Church, Trinity.

MacPHERSON, Jane Marie (Mary) - Passed peacefully away in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, N.S., September 27, 2002, Jane Marie (Mary) MacPherson, of Big Pond, Cape Breton, with her seven children by her side. Born in Glace Bay, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Angus Dan and Catherine (MacPhee) Morrison. Left with fond memories are daughters: Jeanie (Gordon Chaisson), Long Pond, Nfld., Judy (Conrad Lutes), Goose Bay, Labrador, Margie, Toronto, Ont., Bernadette (George Salmaniw), St. John`s, Nfld.; sons: Duncan (Pat), Goderich, Ont., Tom (Bev), Big Pond, Terry (Debbie), Sydney; sister Vera (Martin) MacIsaac, Pickering, Ont.; special cousin, Cathy; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Colin and brother Tom. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, October 1st at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary`s Parish Church, Big Pond. Rev. Joe Gillis officiated, assisted by Rev. Albert Maroun. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Mary will be dearly missed by her loving children, family and many friends.

Leaving to mourn her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Alex, her six children (and spouses): John (Karyn), Regina (John) Maguire, Edmund (Mary Lou), Ellen (Philip) Cook, Alex (Connie), Marie (Les) Budden, fourteen grandchildren (her pride and joy): John (Tina), Daniel, Alexander and Susan Martin, Ian and Kathleen Maguire, Jeffrey, Paul, Sean and David Martin, Matthew, Heather and Peter Cook and Samantha Budden, great-grandchild Ryan Martin; sisters: Teresa MacCormac, Joan Ryan and Vera (Ed) Rowe, aunt Sister Eugenio Carroll; and sister-in-law Pat Carroll; the Martin family; brothers-in-law: James (Katherine) Martin, Gerard (Peggy) Martin, John (Emma) Martin, Steve (Mary) Martin, Larry (Bernice) Martin; sisters-in-law: Madonna (Stan) Peterson, Marie (Jerry) Jergins, Geraldine (Cyril) Russell, Annette (Bud) Coultas; and brother-in-law Ron Stevenson. Also many special nieces and nephews, relatives and friends, including Sister Marian Grace, Steve and Marg Manning, and Mary (Min) Carroll. Predeceased by her parents Edmund and Ellen Carroll, brother Edmund Carroll, brother-in-law Denis Ryan and sister-in-law Carmel Stevensen. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, on Wednesday, 4-10 p.m., and Thursday, 2-10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Friday, January 31 at 9:45 a.m. at St. Pius X Church. May eternal rest grant onto her, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her.

Leaving to mourn husband Frank; son Geoffrey (Donna) Moore of Edmonton, Alberta; daughter Lynne (Byron) Hierlihy of South River; five grandchildren: Timothy and Jill Hierlihy, Tanya Butler, Chad and Steven Moore; three great-grandchildren: Colby, Bryce, Madison; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Resting at Moore`s Funeral Home, Clarke`s Beach. Visitation Thursday 2-5 p.m., 7-9:30 p.m.; Friday 10 - 12 noon. Funeral service to take place on Friday, October 18, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. from All Saints Anglican Church, South River. Interment in the All Saints Anglican cemetery, South River. Leaving to mourn his wife Cathy, one son Eugene (Kim); three daughters: Susan Chipman (Chris), Christina Ryan, Laura Butt; four granddaughters: Alyssa, Ashley, Marissa and Jessica; seven sisters: Melita Kennedy (Doug), St. John`s; Marlene Rose, Ontario; Geraldine Cumby (Bob), Chamberlains, Gloria Locke (Leo), Mount Pearl; Edith Owens (Ron), Foxtrap; Madonna Delacey (Art), Ontario; Kay Lowe (Tom), Ontario; two brothers: Brendan Ryan (Nina), Chamberlains and James Ryan, St. John`s; five sisters-in-law: Audrey Butt (Bazil), Mount Pearl, Brenda Neal (Paul), Kelligrews; Joan Barnes (Wayne), St. John`s; Marlene Barnes (Don), St. John`s; Darlene McGrath (Ben), St. John`s; five brothers-in-law: Chesley Barnes (Dallas), St. John`s; Cecil Barnes (Catherine), St. John`s, Darryl Barnes, Steven Barnes (Paula); and Kenny Barnes; also a large number of friends. His best friends, Gary Layman, Bazil Butt, Gerry Johnson, Cecil Barnes and friend Darlene McGrath, one special goddaughter Diane Barnes and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. THORNE, Fredrick, B. - (1919-2002) Passed peacefully away October 16, 2002 at the Memorial Hospital, Rye, Sussex, England, Fredrick B, Thorne (Fred), age 82 years. Served with the 59th Newfoundland Heavy Regiment of the Royal Artillery in England and from the beaches of Normandy into the heart of Germany. Predeceased by his sisters: Verna (Hemmens) Thorne (1999), and Margaret (Rogers) Thorne (2000), and twin brother Bertram Thorne (1999), all of St. John`s. Left with fond and loving memories are his wife: Joyce; sons: Donald (Ann) and Richard (Wendy); brother: Carson (Shirley); sister: Grace Luby; and four grandchildren; and one grandchild; a large circle of nephews, nieces, and friends; three sisters-in-law: Beryl Broomfield, of Beckley, (sister of wife Joyce); Mary Thorne (widow of Bertram); and Shirley Thorne (wife of Carson). Interment in Beckley, Rye, Sussex, England. Today we are thinking of someone, Who was always so kind and so true, Someone we loved with all our hearts, Dear brother, that someone was you. Death is a heartache no one can heal, Memories are treasures no one can steal, Some may forget you, now you are gone, But we`ll still remember, no matter how long.

Also leaving to mourn sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild, special care givers Pam, Madonna, Fred and Lillian. Special thank-you to Dr. Brent Tompkins. BARR, John Kerr (Little Johnny Cameron) - of Torbay, formerly of Blantyre, Scotland. John died peacefully Thursday, October 10, 2002. He leaves to mourn his wife Jacqueline; children: Jonathon, Kate and Rob; relatives in Scotland and a large circle of friends in Newfoundland and around the world. For well over 30 years John contributed to the musical and cultural mosaic of Newfoundland. He was an early member of Sons of Erin, however he might best be remembered as 'Little Johnny Cameron', travelling the outports and coastal communities of Newfoundland. Johnny entertained with the best in Scotland, Ontario and Newfoundland and, latterly, in cyberspace at The Three J`s, Mudcat Cafe, and Blether Bar. We will all miss him and say goodbye in our own ways. Private funeral arrangements have been made. Godspeed Johnny.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Raymond; sons: Frank (wife Jean), Bill (wife Teresa) and Ray; daughters: Kate Thibault (Chuck) and Tammy Orselli (Tim); 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, all of Florida; also leaving to mourn are her brother Frank (Barbara), CBS, Nfld.; sisters: Marie Hayes, Toronto and Joan O`Reilly (Bill), St. John`s, Nfld.; aunts: Mary Martin and Alice Edison (Len), St. John`s, Nfld.; also a large circle of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, October 16, 2002 in St. Paul`s Catholic Church, Tampa. Her time of loving and giving on this earth is now complete. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick`s Church on Monday, October 21, 2002 at 9:30 a.m.
