GILLETT, Geoffrey L.M. - (1926 - 2002). Passed peacefully away on December 15, 2002 at the Health Sciences Centre. Predeceased by his parents Frederick and Cynthia and brother Gerald. Leaving to mourn his wife, Antonia (nee Hutton); children: Elizabeth, Frederick (Stephan), Moya, Sean (Linda) and Sheila; nine grandchildren; sister Jeanne Alliban. At Geoffrey`s request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place in Toronto at a later date. Donations in his memory may be made to the Parkinsons Foundation. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Carnell`s Funeral Home.

PITTMAN, Edna - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on December 14th, 2002, Edna Pittman, age 76 years. Predeceased by husband Chesley (1999), sister Florence Lambert (1998). Left with loving memories are sons Lester (Joan) of Glenwood, Roy (Donna) of Ont., Gary of New Brunswick, Paul (Janet) of Appleton, Glenn (Donna) of Ont., daughters Verna (Tony) Bowering of Bay Roberts, Marie (Alton) Reid of Glovertown, brother Roy Stoyles (Iris) of Glenwood, sisters Marjorie (William) Baker of St. John`s, Mary (Cecil) Critch of Ont., Grandchildren Paula (Robert), Troy (Michele), Valerie, Justine, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Krista, Glenn, Shawn, Trevor & Rodney, great-grandchildren: Victoria, Samuel & Tyler. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 17th, 2002 from Fraser Road United Church, Gander. Interment All Saints cemetery, Gander. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Pittman`s memory can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart & Stroke Foundation. A well known man for his many trips to Millertown, moose hunting. Predeceased by his loving wife Gertrude Whalen-Lawlor (nee Locke), May 1985. Leaving to mourn a loving and cherished daughter Joan Rodgers; special grandson Louis (Jean); 3 sons: Richard (Francis), Ned (Muriel) and Benedict (Carol), Haliburton, Ont.; stepdaughters: Bridget Coombs (Cyril), Trepassey, Mary Jones and Nora Sinclair (Eric), Clarenville; stepsons: Jim Whalen and Pat Whalen, Ontario; 32 grandchildren, a great number of great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Madonna Druken, Bernadette Druken (Sylvester) and Jean Lynch; also a number of nieces and nephews; as well as the staff and friends of 2 North and 2 West at Escasoni; and a number of relatives and many friends of St. Thomas Line, Paradise. Resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. Visitation from 10 a.m. -10 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 4, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. from Holy Family R.C. Resting at Barrett`s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and from 10 a.m.-12 noon Wednesday. Leaving to mourn husband Michael Harlick; her darling children: Amena and Akira; her loving mom and dad, Kate and Tony Evans; brothers: Mark (Heather), Toronto and Cormac (fiancée Pricia), Kingston; niece Emma; father and mother-in-law Leo and Stephanie Harlick; brothers-in-law: Tim and Chris, and extended family in Ireland and England; other relatives and many caring, loving friends. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel with private inurnment to follow. Passed peacefully away at St. Luke`s Home on Tuesday, January 28, 2003, in the presence of her loving family, Ruth Mary (Rowe) Bambrick of St. John`s at the age of 85 years - a precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, wife and friend. Predeceased by her husband, Cyril J. Bambrick (1992), taxi driver and owner of Terra Nova Taxi; her father, Henry Rowe (1946); her mother, Emily Rowe (1957); her sister, Linda Green (1994); her brothers: Harry Tavenor (circa 1949), Bill Rowe (1984) and Frederick Tavenor (1986). Leaving to mourn her five children: Garry (Catherine) Bambrick, Myra (Warren) Folkes of Moncton, Judy (Gary) Hughes, Audrey (Ron) Stone with whom she resided for many years and Paul (Marilyn) Bambrick; two sisters: Sarah Rowe and Jean George, both residing at St. Luke`s Home; sisters-in-law: Anne Thomas of Halifax, NS and Gladys Bambrick of Kitchener, ON; nine grandchildren: Heather (Steven) Noseworthy, Susan (Jeff) Cormier, Jennifer (Brian) Walsh, Tracey (Mike) Hughes, Nicole Hughes, Pamela Stone, Bradley Stone, David Bambrick and Allison Bambrick; three great-grandchildren: Amanda Walsh, Ashley Walsh and Dawson Cormier; and special caregiver, Hilda Short and husband Dave. Resting at Caul`s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John`s. McGrath, former lieutenant-governor of Newfoundland and Labrador; mother Margaret; sisters, Kathy (Russell Ure), Caroline (Denis Lecompte), Peggy (Mariusz Koper), Joanna; twin brother Sean; four nieces, Kate, Molly, Thea, Sophia; and nephew Patrick. Friends may visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street, Ottawa, Ontario, 613-233-1143 Sunday from 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica, Sussex Drive, Ottawa, Ontario on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 2 p.m. A Memorial Eucharistic Celebration will also be held in St. John`s, Newfoundland, at a later date.
