Lund, Hon. Ty
Progressive Conservative MLA, Rocky Mountain House
Ty Lund was born in Rocky Mountain House March 31, 1938. He obtained his education in Alhambra, Rocky Mountain House and Red Deer. His occupational background is in farming and small business.
Mr. Lund was first elected to the Alberta Legislature in 1989, and was appointed Chair of the Select Standing Committee on Legislative Offices, and Vice Chair of the Municipal Statutes Review Committee. He also served as a Member of the Water Resources Commission, Environmental Research Trust Fund, and the Standing Policy Committee on Natural Resources and Sustainable Development. On June 15, 1993 he was re-elected for his second term as the Member of the Legislative Assembly representing the Rocky Mountain House Constituency. He was subsequently appointed Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Community Services. On October 21, 1994 he was appointed Minister of Environmental Protection. On March 11, 1997, Mr. Lund was re-elected as MLA for Rocky Mountain House for a third term. He was re-appointed as Minister of Environmental Protection on March 26, 1997.
Over the years Ty has been actively involved in municipal government, serving as a municipal councilor, Reeve of the Municipal District of Clearwater, and a Member of the Provincial Executive of the Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties.
Mr. Lund has a long history of community involvement as President and Secretary of the Rocky Curling Club, Director of the Northern Alberta Curling Association, Coordinator of Civil Air Rescue Emergency Services (Canadian Air Rescue), President and Secretary-Treasurer of Rocky Mountain Flying Club, Member of Rocky Agriculture Society, Treasurer, Rocky Lutheran Church Parish, Member, Rocky Mountain Kinsmen, Member of the Rocky 4-H Club, and Member of the Rocky Rotary Club.
