She was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Digby. Surviving are daughters, Iris (Mrs. Elwood Denton), Little River, Digby Co.; Rosalie (Mrs. Reg Lowe), Lower Branch, Lunenburg Co.; Lila (Mrs. Norman MacDonald), Vancouver; Carol Halliday, Digby; son, Edgar, East River, Lunenburg Co.; half- sister, Mildred Raymond, Smith's Cove, Digby Co.; half-brother, A. Thomas Specht, Wellsley, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar; daughter, Monica; grandsons, Barry, Michael; sister, Edna; brother, Clyde; stepmother, Stella Specht. No visitation. Funeral 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Rev. Craig Christenson officiating. Burial in St. Longinus Cemetery, Waterford, Digby Co. Donations to St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. Arrangements under the direction of Jayne's Funeral Home, Digby.

WILSON, Harriett Augusta "Dearie" - 84, Digby, died February 18, 1999, in Digby General Hospital. Born in Digby, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Sarah (Wormell) Turnbull. She was a member of Grace United Church, Digby, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are daughters, Deborah (Mrs. Wayne King), Shelburne; sons, Scott, Hamilton; Andy, Digby; David, Bear River; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest; sisters, Alda, Annie, Durcilla; brothers, Kenneth, Lloyd, Ross, Percy. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday in Grace United Church, Digby, Ms. Linda Brown officiating. Burial in Fairview Cemetery, Digby. Donations to Islandview Terrace, Digby, or any charity.

BELLIVEAU, J. Pius - 56, St. Bernard, Digby Co., died February 3, 1998, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born in St. Bernard, he was a son of the late Leger and Dorothee (Comeau) Belliveau. Surviving are brothers, Jean, St. Bernard; Benjamin, Seabrook, Digby Co.; sister, Clara Theriault, St. Bernard. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Meteghan Funeral Home. Funeral 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church, St. Bernard, Rev. Clovis Chiasson officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society or any charity.

Surviving are daughter, Waneta (Mrs. Wellington McLaughlin), Halifax; foster daughter, Deborah (Mrs. Dave Best), English Mountain; sons, Benjamin Hiltz, Danvers; Edward and Glendon Hiltz, Riverdale; sister, Mildred Brattian, Weymouth; brothers, William, Smiths Cove; Herman, Digby; Stanley, Havelock; Roy, Saulnierville; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by daughter, Glena; grandson, Christopher; granddaughter, Krista; sisters, Minnie, Eva, Levina; brothers, Henry, Harry. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Jayne's Funeral Home, Weymouth North. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Peter's Anglican Church, Weymouth North, Rev. Mark Marshall officiating. Burial in St. Peter's Anglican Church Cemetery. Donations to any charity.

BYFORD, Janet A. - 86, Tideview Terrace, Digby, died August 21, 1998, in the home. Born in Liverpool, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Louise (Calder) Brown. She was a graduate of Edgehill School, Windsor. Surviving is her brother, Claude Hartley Brown, Digby. She was predeceased by her husband, George. Graveside service 10 a.m. Thursday in Forest Hills Cemetery, Digby, Rev. Ron Evans officiating. Donations to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

SULLIVAN, Murray Lester
SULLIVAN, Murray Lester - 66, Halifax, died November 20, 1998, in Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Freeport, Digby Co., he was a son of the late Charles and Myrtle (Higgins) Sullivan. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked several years at the Cornwallis Naval Base as a painter and also worked for a glass company in Halifax. Surviving are sisters, Freda Dukes, Dundas, Ont.; Emily Oickle, Kentville; Zilpha Welsh, Shelburne; Elaine Coombs, Deep Brook, Annapolis Co.; foster sister, Maisie Mullen, Weymouth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Joe, George, Arthur, Eugene; sister, Ilene. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Monday both in Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby, from where funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Leon Langille, officiating. Burial in Valley Cemetery, Freeport. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society.

DEVEAU, Warren Robert
DEVEAU, Warren Robert - 41, Springdale, Digby Co., died peacefully Friday, March 3, 2000, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born February 15, 1959, in Yarmouth, he was a son of Warren and Jeanette (Doucette) Deveau, Springdale. He was a meat manager at Save Easy, Yarmouth, with whom he has been employed for 15 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, and loved his family and many friends.He was also involved with the Terry Fox Run. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 17 years, the former Donna Cottreau; his son, Derek, at home; his brother, Danny and wife Melody; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by infant daughter, Vanessa. Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. today, in Saint Vincent-de-Paul Roman Catholic Church, Salmon River, Rev. Louis Comeau officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery. Luncheon to follow in St. Vincent-de-Paul Church basement. Donations in memory may be made to the VON, Terry Fox Centre, Canadian Cancer Society or QEII Health Sciences Centre, Bone Marrow Unit. Arrangements entrusted to H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home Ltd., 29 Albert St., Yarmouth.

EVERETT, Dorothy Louise - 71, Digby, died February 7, 1999, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Bear River, she was a daughter of the late Roney and Nina (Crosby) Warren. She is survived by daughter, Carolyn Everett, Dartmouth; sons, Daniel, Kenora, Ont.; Clark, Indian Point Road, Tantallon; foster daughter, Marlene O'Neill, Prince Edward Island; sister, Eva (Mrs. Fred Manfred), Sudbury, Ont.; brothers, Lawrence Warren, Lower Sackville, and Allen Warren, Bear River; grandchildren, Caylyn and Quinn; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon; stepson, Ronald Everett; half-sister, Jeanett Welsh Milbury. No visitation or flowers by request. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Jayne's Funeral Home, 7 Birch St., Digby, Rev. Leon Langille will officiate. Burial will be in Digby Baptist Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to The Lung Association.

COAKLEY, George James - 70, Doucetteville, Digby Co., died December 25, 1999, in the Digby General Hospital. Born in Sissaboo Falls, Digby Co., he was a son of the late Wallace and Annie (Doucette) Coakley. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Doucetteville. He worked in construction with Warren Maritime for about 30 years. He liked to hunt and fish. Surviving are daughters, Patricia Finigan, Digby; Lynn McCullough, Mount Pleasant, Digby Co.; sons, Wallace Deveau, Marshalltown; Wayne Deveau, Pubnico; sister, Lucy Murphy, Digby; brother, Gordon, Digby; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Albert. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Tuesday, prayers 8 p.m. Tuesday, all in Jayne's Funeral Home, Weymouth North. Funeral service 3 p.m. Wednesday, in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Doucetteville, Rev. Joseph Hanna officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations to any charity.

He was a member of the Port Maitland Wesleyan Church and a past member of the Havelock Wesleyan Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Hazel Brittain; sons, Ervin Jr., Saulnierville, Digby Co.; Pearley, Digby; Arthur, Hallett, Rockville, Yarmouth Co.; daughters, Hilda Barr, Weaver Settlement, Digby Co.; Geraldine Rice, Southville, Digby Co.; Lorraine Pothier, Yarmouth; brother, Edward, Hilltown, Digby Co.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Clarence; sister, Elda Mullen. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, in Jaynes Funeral Home, Weymouth North. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday, in Havelock Wesleyan Church, Gary Churchill officiating assisted by Tim O'Blenis and Daniel Hill. Burial in Lakeside Cemetery, Havelock. Donations to any charity.
