CASELEY, Bernice Katherine "Bunny" - 86, Bridgewater, passed away April 25, 2000, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Midville Branch, she was a daughter of the late Lemuel and Anna (Crouse) Smith. She is survived by her son, Bill and wife Caroline, Bridgewater; daughter, Donna and husband Freeman Brown, Crousetown; granddaughter, Annette and Allan Keddy; great-granddaughter, Alicia Keddy, all of Brockhouse; sister, Mrs. Florence Comey, Westboro, Mass.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; brothers, Robert, William, Leo, Frederick; sisters, Mildred and Sophie. There will be no visitation in the funeral home by request. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater, Rev. James Slack Jr. officiating. No flowers by request. Memorial donations may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, or the SPCA, Lunenburg County Branch. Arrangements are entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater.

ZWICKER, Eric - 66, Halifax, passed away April 14, 2000, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Parkdale, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Stedman and Lucyann (Rafuse) Zwicker. He retired from the Halifax District School Board after 26 years of service. He was a member of the Mulgrave Park Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty Ward; son, Murray and wife Lynn, Halifax; daughter, Heather and husband Francois, Dartmouth; brothers, Donald, Kentville; Maurice, Lincoln, Gilbert, Aubrey, all of Ontario; sister, Marion and husband Eric Wilson, East Dalhousie, Annapolis Co.; grandchildren, Jeremy, Shaun, Julia, Nicholas, Jeffrey; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Jenny; brother, Lloyd in infancy; brother, Paul. Visiting will be 2-5 p.m. today, April 16, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, in Mulgrave Park Baptist Church, Rev. Leo Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Reception to follow at the church. WOOD, Edith Maude
WOOD, Edith Maude - 90, Lunenburg, died Wednesday, April 12, 2000, in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late John Edwin and Cecilia (Maxner) Oxner. She was employed at Kinley's Drug Store for many years and after leaving decided to take a business course when she accepted a position with Atlantic Bridge Company Limited and worked there many years until her retirement. She was a member of Grace Chapter 8 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of St. John's Ladies Guild, Ladies Auxiliary of Fishermen's Memorial Hospital and a very faithful choir member of St. John's Anglican Church for more than 35 years. Edith was also a member of the Bluenose Senior Citizen's Club, Golden Youth Club, acting as pianist for both clubs. She was also a member of the Riverport Senior Citizens Club. She was a very loving and devoted mother, always kind and thoughtful of others. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by son, Cortlandt and wife Som Somsaifon, Thailand; grandson, John; and granddaughter, Sky Somsaifon. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert; daughter, Donna Judith; brother, Edwin H. Oxner; sisters, Roberta Lillian; and Marion, who died in infancy. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg, where funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Irving Letto officiating. She was predeceased by her first husband, George Gormley; daughter, Crystal Ann (Gormley) Penta; second husband, Eugene Sanford; sisters, Beulah, Harriet, Gladys, Leta; brothers, David, Harvey, Lawson, Lindsay. Graveside service 2:30 p.m. today in the Hillside Cemetery, Clearland, Mahone Bay, Dr. M. Allen Gibson officiating. WALTERS, Eglah Doris - 103, Lunenburg, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Harbour View Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. Born in Lower LaHave December 10, 1896, she was the daughter of the late Alvin and Elizabeth Anne (Mosher) Creaser. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a long-standing member of Central United Church, Lunenburg, and a member of the Mary Gormley Unit of the UCW. Eglah was a life member of Alexander Rebekah Lodge 22 and Grace Chapter Order of the Easter Star 8, Lunenburg. Surviving are daughters, Jean (Elvin) Crouse, Lunenburg; and Sylvia (Arthur) Crouse, Halifax; son, Vernon, Lunenburg; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John Adam; infant son, Willis; daughter, Christabel Cantelope; eight brothers and three sisters. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg, Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg. LAING, Lyndon Loran - 78, Lockeport, died April 18, 2000, in Roseway Hospital, Sandy Point. Born April 13, 1922, in South Portland, Me., he moved to Lockeport with his parents in 1934. He was a son of the late Chester Franklyn II and Gina Edith (Manthorne) Laing. He was a member, deacon of the Lockeport United Baptist Church and also secretary treasurer of the Sunday school. He enjoyed music and was known for his wonderful tenor voice. He was a member of the choir of the Lockeport United Baptist Church and also the Area Men's Choir. He was a member of Taylor Lodge 62 and Scottish Rite Thirty Second Degree, Order of the Eastern Star, Crescent Chapter 70, former member of the Kwanis Club of Lockeport. He also enjoyed badminton and bowling. He worked in the family business for 40 years as co-owner of Laing's General Store Ltd. He retired in 1983. Surviving are wife, Lorna (Conrad); daughters, Judith (Daniel) Creaser, Bragg Creek, Alta.; Barbara (Reginald) Caulfield, Oxford; brother, Chester III (Helen), Jordan Ferry; stepsister, Dorothy Brooks, Fla.; granddaughter, Jana Creaser; grandsons, Marc Creaser, John Lyndon Caulfield; numerous cousins. He was predeceased by a sister in infancy. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Lockeport. Funeral service 11 a.m. Friday in Lockeport United Baptist Church, Rev. CORKUM, Luetta Elizabeth - 86, Feltzen South, Lunenburg Co., died Monday, April 17, 2000, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Feltzen South, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Seretha (Zinck) Zellars. Luetta worked for a number of years with National Sea Products, Lunenburg Division and she was a member of Wesley United Church, Feltzen South. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by a daughter, Diane and her husband William Creaser, Riverport; sons, Sherman, Feltzen South; and companion Mary Ann Mosher, Martin's Point; Lynn and wife Linda, Northwest; grandchildren, Darlene, Marc, Barry, Lisa; great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Scott and Cassandra. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; son, Russell Alvin; brothers, Lawrence, Elizah and Wallace. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today, in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg and where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. Interment in Feltzen South Cemetery. COX, George Marsh - 76, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., died April 20, 2000, at home. Born in Kline Heights, he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Chafe) Cox. He was a 27 year veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater. He served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders from January 31, 1944 to July 24, 1946. Surviving are wife, the former Marie Byrne, Halifax; sons, Harold, Toronto; Stephen, North Bay, Ont.; Peter, Bridgewater; daughter, Patricia Joudrey, Blockhouse; brother, Douglas; sisters, Rosalie, Virginia, Ruth; five grandchildren. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. Memorial service 2 p.m. Monday in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Captains Paul and Kelly Rideout officiating. Burial at a later date. GURNEY, Cory Ernest - 22, Lunenburg, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2000, in Fauxburg, Lunenburg Co. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of Murray and Phyllis (Morrison) Gurney, Lunenburg. He received his education from the Lunenburg High School and went on to work with Peter Darnell at the Indian Point Marine Farms Ltd. Cory was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and rock climbing. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Cory is survived by his maternal grandparents, Michael and Annie May Morrison, Lunenburg; brother, Mike and his companion Lola, Halifax; sisters, Lee-Ann and her husband Ray Dares; nephew, Lucas, Centre; Lori and her companion Anthony, Riverport; several aunts and uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Highway 3, Lunenburg and where funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday.
