HILTZ, Lionel William
HILTZ, Lionel William - 82, Gold River, Lunenburg Co., died April 24, 2000, at home. Born in Marriott's Cove, he was a son of the late Herbert and Ethel (Maddeford) Hiltz. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Everett Branch 88, Chester Basin. Lionel served in the Merchant Navy from 1936-1947. He later worked in Lunar Park, then in construction for Robie Kaizer and later with Haliday Craftsman. He retired from the Maintenance Dept. of the Halifax City School Board after seventeen years of service in 1983. He is survived by his wife, the former Iris C. Hatt; sons, Gregory and his wife Brenda, Gold River; daughter, Dorothy and husband Bruce Close, Larder Lake; sisters, Clara (Mrs. Bruce Oxner), Prue, (Mrs. Earl Zwicker), Chester Basin; Laurel, (Mrs. Bill Smith), Chester; brothers, Horace (Amelia) Hiltz, Chester; Grant (Florence) Hiltz, Bridgewater; sister-in-law, Joyce Hiltz, Marriott's Cove; grandchildren, Andrew Close, Halifax; Jennifer (Kevin) Height, Dartmouth; Timothy (Heather) Hiltz, Chester Basin; Dorothy Hiltz, Gold River; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Carl Hiltz. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester. Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday in United Baptist Church, Western Shore, Rev. Leo Gallant officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. COLLINS, Merton Dale
COLLINS, Merton Dale - 51, Front Centre, Lunenburg Co., died Sunday, April 16, 2000, in the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Parrsboro, he was a son of the late Robert and Irene (Henwood) Collins. In his earlier years, he worked for Can AM Plastics, Springhill and after moving to Lunenburg was employed by William Gerhardt Landscaping. He was an adherent of the Baptist Church. He is survived by brother, Earl Collins and companion Pat Tanner, Front Centre; five nieces. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Margaret Follett. Visitation will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today, in Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy 3, Lunenburg and from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. Interment will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, in Trinity United Church Cemetery, Parrsboro. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VON or to any charity.

FULTON, Sedley Roland - 81, Bridgewater, Lunenburg Co., died April 28, 2000, in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Martin and Harriet (Dickie) Fulton. He was an honorary member of Bridgewater Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the honorary Firefighters Club. He was a member of IOOF LaHave Lodge 60, Bridgewater, recently receiving his 55 year jewel. He was a member of Bridgewater United Church and was an avid camper. He was employed with CNR for 40 years as a locomotive engineer retiring in 1982. Surviving are son, Gerry, Bridgewater; sisters, Muriel Fulton, Halifax; Doris Fisher, Brookfield; brother, Wilfred, East Mountain; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Shirley Graham; sisters, Edith, Eva; brothers, Blair, Arthur, Graham. Cremation has taken place. No visitation. Memorial service 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 12, in Bridgewater United Church. Private family burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. MILLIGAN, Phyllis Elaine - 82, Halifax, died February 16, 1999, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Upper Branch, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Lillas (Hirtle) Hebb. During the Second World War, she served as a nursing sister in Great Britain. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by a son, John Patrick and his wife Paula; daughter Kathleen and her husband Dennis Snow; grandson, Jeffrey Milligan, all of Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband, John D. "Jack" Milligan. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday, in the J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Windsor St., Halifax, where funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Rev. E.P. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of Lincoln and Jean Esther (Fraser) Oickle, Waterloo. She attended Lunenburg Regional Vocational School, Bridgewater, studying cosmetology in 1971. She was employed at Colette Coiffures for nine years before opening her own business in June 1983. She then closed her business in May 1996, due to her illness. Surviving are her husband, Douglas; daughters, Anedra, Kara, at home; sisters, Patricia Rhuland, Bridgewater; Karen Burgess, Windsor; Cindy Robar, Waterloo; brother, Charles, Italy Cross.
