North Sydney - May 27 - One of this town's oldest residents, Mrs. Annie O'Neil, 91, died here today at her home. Born at George's River, she came to North Sydney 60 years ago. Her husband Charles O"Neil died 25 years ago. A son, Thomas O'Neil, lives in Cambridge, Mass.

Sydney Mines - Daniel Alexander MacKay, who was an overman and bankhead foreman at old Florence Colliery on retirement five years ago died suddenly Tuesday in Harbor View Hospital. He was 75. Native of Boston, he resided at Florence 43 years. Mr. MacKay was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sydney Mines. He was a charter member of Bras d'Or Lodge, I.O.O.F. Surviving are his wife, the former Emma Jardine, and a nephew. The remains are at the Fillmore and Whitman Funeral Home, North Sydney. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Glace Bay - Funeral services on 23 Oct. 1963 Died in Fredericton at age of 82 Native of Ireland Resided in Glace Bay for 55 years Resided with her daughter, Mrs. Dewitt Cross, Louisbourg for last year. Widow of the late Thomas Fiander who died in 1951 Member of St. Mary's church Surviving are four sons, Milton, New Brunswick; Wilbert, Seattle; Edison, South Weymouth, Mass.; Emerson, St. Catherines, Ont.; three daughters, Greta (Mrs. Cross); Gertrude (Mrs. A. Wilcox), St. Catherines, Ont.; Pearl (Mrs. Norman Bay), Brookfield. A son Edgar, was lost while serving with the navy in 1944, and another son, Killoran, died in 1954. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery.

George Hatcher, 78, North Sydney, retired fish handler, died Sunday. Surviving besides his wife, the former Carolyn Simms, are five sons, Charles, Melvin, Norman and Vernon, North Sydney; Gordon, Sydney Mines; one daughter, Thelma (Mrs. Lyonal Daly); one sister, Mrs. Alice Porter, Newfoundland; one brother, Henry, North Sydney, and a number of grandchildren. The body is at the W. J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney. Funeral services will be held at St. John's Anglican Church Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment in Lakeside Cemetery.
