MacLEOD, Brian G. - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Brian G. MacLeod, 40, Lower Sackville, after a courageous battle with cancer. Brian passed away Saturday, March 20, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of Coleen Locke-MacLeod and the late Norris MacLeod. Brian moved to Halifax approximately 16 years ago and has resided in Lower Sackville for the last seven years. Brian was a people person first, taking time to always keep in touch with his family and multitude of friends. He will be missed by many. Surviving are his wife, Denise (MacPhee); son, Gregory; stepchildren, Elena and Evan, Lower Sackville; only brother, Allister (Anne Marie); nephews, Craig and Colin MacLeod, all of New Waterford. Also surviving is Brian's maternal grandmother, Annice Locke, of Seaview Manor, Glace Bay. Brian was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Thomas W. Locke; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Margaret MacLeod. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, in St. John's United Church, Fall River, Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Family flowers only. In Brian's memory, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.

McMASTER, Eileen Agnes "Tiny" - 82, Waverley, passed away suddenly July 14, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Trenton, she was the chosen daughter of the late Ignatius and Mary (Gerrior) Farrell. Eileen retired from Sears and spent her retirement years travelling and living in Florida for the winter months. She spent summers at home gardening and actively participating in the seniors' club, the Friendly Group. Every Monday morning, she exercised with the group from the Waverley Legion. Surviving are sons, John, Nine Mile River; Bob (Linda), Lawrencetown; Frank (Sharon), Alberta; daughter, Cheryl, Enfield; daughter-in-law, Nalda, Bedford; brothers, Sonny (Pat), Walter (Darlene); sisters, Christine (Robert) Oderkirk, Delores (Bubsy) Shrennen, Annie-Mae Pentz, Toddie (Jack) Blanchard; grandchildren, Michael, Robbie, Kevin, Karrie, Angela, Jason, Christine, Chantal; great-grandchildren, Katharine, Rebecca, Jeffery, Megan-Rose, Sarah; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Rod; daughter, Darlene; sisters, Mary and Kay; brothers, Leonard and John. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. followed by memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Patricia Malin officiating, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Private family burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. KEEN, Elaine Florence - Lower Sackville, died July 22, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Digby, she was the daughter of the late John and Alice (Doty) Keen. Elaine was a member of The Peace Lutheran Church. She was a proud member of the Sackville Sports Stadium. She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Dunham (Ken Farrell), Ottawa; sons, Steven (Shari), Lower Sackville, Brian (Rebecca), Toronto; brother, Richard (Phyllis), Lower Sackville; several nieces and nephews. Arrangements entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home. 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery, Digby. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

HULL, Rev. Barbara Esther - 63, Lower Sackville, died July 21, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre. Born in Berwick, she was a daughter of Dorothy (Wagner) Hull, Berwick, and the late Robert Pelton. Surviving are her loving husband, Kevin; daughters, Cheryl Hull, Lower Sackville; Susan Balser, Lower Sackville; son, Scott, Lower Sackville; Joseph Doucette, Rachel and Ryan Hull, all of Lower Sackville; sister, Phyllis Smeltzer, Windsor; several nieces and nephews. Rev. Hull was founder and director of Rapha Ministry, Christian Ministries to people in crisis for many years where she specialized in working with women in crisis. She was a member of the International Women in Leadership and American Association of Pastor Counsellors, she was also an honorary member of the Sackville Heritage Society. For the past several years Rev. Hull ministered as an Evangelist out of Halifax Victory Church. Barbara will be remembered for her beautiful smile and loving nature as a woman of God. She conducted herself with grace and humbleness extending her hand of comfort and care to all who knew her. She will always be loved and remembered. Visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Rock Church, Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, Rev. HARTLEN (Coolen), Lola Myra - 68, Halifax, passed away July 24, 2004, peacefully at home with family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Foxpoint, she was a daughter of the late Cara Doiron (Coolen). She worked in Personnel in the Department of National Defence for 40 years. After retirement in 1993, she became an avid gardener and enjoyed the friendship of her fellow retirees. She is survived by son, Barry, Halifax; daughter, Kim Crossland, Lower Sackville; grandchildren, Joseph and Leigh, Lower Sackville; Cassandra, Halifax; sisters, Cathy Delorey, Ontario; Karen and Joy Doiron, British Columbia. Also, her family feline, Teddy Bear, will miss her immensely. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, in Atlantic Funeral Home. A family burial service will take place at a later date. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, QEII, Canadian Cancer Society or Canadian Red Cross Society.
