FISHER, Vera Viola - 88, Halifax, passed away July 24, in the New Infirmary, QEII, surrounded by her family. Born in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary Agnes Faulkenham. She was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by daughters, Patricia Thibideau, Dartmouth; Janette (Norm) Berry, Westport, Ont.; Barbara Fisher, Halifax; son, Robert (Marjorie) Faulkenham, Upper La Have; grandchildren, Chuck (Laura) Fisher, Borden, Ont.; Mark (Nancy) Thibideau, Dartmouth; Anita (Kevin) Thibideau-Sauder, Dartmouth; Laura (Tim) Taverner, Bicester, United Kingdom; Ken (Emily) Berry, William's Lake, B.C.; David and Robin Faulkenham; great-grandchildren, April, Melissa, Christopher, Connor, Cameron, Meaghan, Delsin; twin great great- granddaughters, Courtney and Kaitlyn; special family friends, Sandra and Gordon Landry, St. Peter's. She is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Foster Fisher; brothers, Carl, Stanley, and Emery; sisters, Lillian, Blossom; two sisters in infancy. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection on Windsor Street, Rev. Doug Moore officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. Donations may be made in Vera's name to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Thanks to Dr. Rebello at the Halifax Infirmary; staff and nurses of 8.1 and 8.2; Dr. H. THOMAS “TOM” GEORGE MACDONALD 1922 – 2005 GLACE BAY It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Thomas George MacDonald age 82 of 390 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Tom passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late James and Christina (MacPherson) MacDonald. Tom was a former member of Holy Family Church, Glace Bay. He was employed with the Town of Glace Bay as a Labourer. He enjoyed doing crafts. He will be sadly missed by sisters, Margaret (Alex) Calder, Sydney, Isabel (Harold) Harten, Sue Saint Marie, Ont., Mary Anne “Mae” O’Day, Sydney. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to niece, Judy Burchell, Glace Bay, nephews, Eddie Comer, Donkin and Wayne Comer, Glace Bay for the superior care given to Tom over the years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Eric and James, sister, Rodina Comer. Visitation for Mr. MacDonald will be held Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. A Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Fr. John Graham will be officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to a charity of choice.

ROBERT JOSEPH MACEACHERN 1929 – 2004 RESERVE MINES It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert Joseph MacEachern age 75 formerly of Reserve Mines and a resident of Harborstone Enhanced Care, Sydney. Robert passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney with family at his side. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Alex and Katie (Fennell) MacEachern. Robert will be sadly missed by brother, John Angus, Framboise, sisters, Bridget LeBlanc, New Waterford, Catherine MacDonald, Reserve Mines and his special friend, Beverly Annesty. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Walter, Roddie, Roy, sisters, Mary Fraser and Nonie Deveau. Visitation for Mr. MacEachern will be held Friday 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. Fr. Gerald Campbell will be officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

JOHN ALLISTER “HOOKER” MACLEOD 1928 – 2004 GLACE BAY It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of John MacLeod. John passed away Sunday, October 17, 2004 at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Allister and Florence (Tracey) MacLeod. He was a member of Warden United Church, Glace Bay. John was a dedicated employee of Devco retiring after 41 years of service. He served in the Canadian Armed Forces. John was a former member of Branch 125 Legion, New Aberdeen. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening. He enjoyed music, especially, country music. John’s greatest love was the love he had for his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. John will be sadly missed by his wife, Pauline (Jewer), children, Barb O’Quinn, Moncton, N.B., Howard (Barb) MacLeod, Florence (Bill) Broderick, John Jr. MacLeod, Bernie (Donna) MacLeod, Debbie (Collie) MacDonald, Brenda (Derick) Bourgeois, Darrell MacLeod, Cherie MacLeod (Darryl Hill), Troy (Jennifer) MacLeod – all of Glace Bay, brother, William (Helen) MacLeod, Ont., sisters, Margaret MacNeil, Glace Bay, Ester (Tony) Wadden, Ethel MacDonald, Shirley Shortliffe – all of Truro and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are 18 loving grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by a grandson, Kyle MacMullin, brothers-in-law, Walter MacNeil and Howard Jewer. Visitation for Mr. MacLeod will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2004 (today) 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at Warden United Church, Glace Bay. Rev. Laurie MacCuish will be officiating. Cremation will follow. Interment will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Nova Scotia or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

GEORGE “TUDY” FOWLER GLACE BAY George passed away Friday, October 15, 2004 at home surrounded by family, after a long and courage battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Campbell) Fowler. George worked for Banfield & Miles of Halifax before forming his own painting contracting company in 1983. He was an avid reader and sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing badminton, tennis and squash. George will always be loved and sadly missed by his wife, Barbara (Campbell), daughters, Judy (Onno), Halifax and Susan Pemberton (John), Glace Bay, his beloved grandson, Dylan, with whom he shared his love of movies; and also their dog, Lucy. He his also survived by brothers, Fabian (Anita), Boston, Adrian (Alma), Glace Bay, sisters, Christina Scott, Kitchener, Neila Simmons, Toronto, Kitty Robinson, St. Petersburg, Florida, Chrissy Smith (Winston), Glace Bay, Dolly Sollazzo (Tony), Sydney, sister-in-law, Eva Fowler and many nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Cecil and Fred. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, October 18, 2004 in Knox United Church, Glace Bay, Rev. Eric Lynk officiating. A reception will follow in the church basement. Donations in George’s memory may be made to Cape Breton Palliative Care, Knox United Church or a charity of choice.
