PARSONS (Cromwell), Gertrude Muriel - 82, Lucasville, passed away July 30, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, after a short illness. Born in Weymouth Falls, she was a daughter of the late Maxwell and Nellie (Jarvis) Cromwell. She was the beloved wife of Leonard Sr. "Bunny" for 59 years. Gertrude is also survived by daughters, Beverly, Halifax; Carolyn, Sackville; Norine "Alfie", Halifax; daughter-in-law, Nancy, Sackville; sons, Leonard Jr. (Virginia), Lower Sackville; Roland (Barbara), Halifax; Sheldon (Denise), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Janis, Melinda, Mathilda, Daniel, Denine, Juan, Portia Ann, Amy, Ashley, Cavel, Nicholas; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Edward), Niagara Falls; Ivy (Reginald), Toronto; brother, Morris (Florence), Weymouth. She was predeceased by sisters, Victorine, Lena, Allison; brother, Lloyd; son, Chester; granddaughter, Debra. Gertrude first came to Lucasville as a school teacher. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother, and enjoyed times with her family. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, in Lucasville United Baptist Church, Rev. Stewart Williams officiating. Private family burial to follow. Family flowers only. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and is survived by husband, Jack Delaney; son, Brandon (Sandra) Delaney, Halifax; grandson, Tyrone Delaney, Halifax; great-grandson, Kyle James Preston-Delaney. She was predeceased by brothers, Roy, Billy, Allen, Winston, Gordon; sister, Lizzie. James Raymond C. Kellegrew age 93, of Amherst passed away Friday, July 30, 2004 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan, N.S. Born in Newfoundland, he was a son of the late John C. and Mary (Cram) Kellegrew. Jim served overseas during World War II. He worked at the Amherst Post Office for 35 years. Jim taught Sunday School at Immanuel United Church, Amherst for 35 years. He was an active member of Trinity St. Stephen's United Church, Amherst and was active in the Amherst Y's Mens Club. Jim was past member of the Knights of Pythias. He was very devoted to his famiy and friends. Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Vera Carter, brothers Grenfell Kellegrewof New Glasgow, Rhodes (Audrey) Kellegrew of Amherst and John (Pauline) Kellegrew of Brookdale, N.S., sister Olive Long of Amherst and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by sisters Joanna Halliday, Marie Lessard and Ruby Kellegrew. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 2, 2004 at 2 p.m. from Trinity St. Stephen's United Church, Amherst. Interment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery. Donations in Jim's memory may be made to the Trinity St. Stephen's United Church, Amherst or the charity of your choice.

Marie Belle Digdon age 88 of Amherst and formerly of Mulgrave passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Gables Lodge, Amherst, N.S. Born in Hazel Hill, N.S. she was a daughter of the late Henry and May (Lambert) Dawe. Marie loved children and taught school for over 21 years and was on the Mulgrave Town Council as well as holding the office of Deputy Mayor. She was a very active member of the IODE, Eastern Star and the Home and School Association. Marie had a passion for literature, drama and writing poetry and stories. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved her family dearly. Marie is survived by one daughter Diane Digdon of Taber, Alberta and one son William Digdon of Amherst, two brothers John (Jessie) Dawe of Lockeport, N.S. and Stan Dawe of Halifax, one sister Chloris Bailey of Toronto, four grandchildren Shane and Jay Mackay, Will and David Digdon and six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Willoughby and brothers Manning , Hugh, Charles, Ray, Ralph and sisters Wannie, Naomi and Carrie. Her remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst with visiting on Friday July 30, 2004 from 2-4 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 4 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Marion Lloy officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Children's Wish Foundation.

POWER, Edward James Joseph "Ted" - 71, Dartmouth, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, after a brief illness with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Lilly) Power (Herring Cove). He is survived by wife, Barbara J. Near, Dartmouth; sons, Tom (Chris), Queensland; Joe (Kim Ferris), West Jeddore; Derek, Dartmouth; Frank (Naomi), Queensland; Lory (Bernadette Emberly), Dartmouth; daughters, Debbie (Charlie) Trueman, Dartmouth; Vicki (Wilfred) VanZeumeren, Fall River; Shelly (Jeff) Hyslop, Nine Mile River; Wendy (Jules) Senecal, Dartmouth; Rosalind (Raymond) Croscup, Sackville; sisters, Evelyn Hubley, Fall River; Agnes (Eric) Caines, Halifax; Margaret (Alan) Green, Halifax; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Joseph in infancy; daughter, Kim, and sister, Edna Robinson. Ted retired in 1987 after a career of over 38 years as Supervisor of Engineering and Works for the City of Halifax. He was known to be an adventurous man with a zest for life. He and Barbara spent many winters traveling and exploring the southern United States. At home he enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Queensland with family and friends. Ted's imagination was never ending and his love for a challenge was evident with each new construction project. He made friends with everyone he met and was always there to lend a hand when needed. Ted was as large in life as he was in stature and will be greatly missed by all. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in Port Wallace United Church Hall, 263 Waverley Rd., Dartmouth, where a memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Friday, Rev. Ivan Gregan officiating. She was a devout member of St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, charter member of the C.W.L. and a senior member of the Children of Mary. She was also a long-standing member of the Altar Society. Rita was a retired employee of Sears Co. Ltd. and was a long-time member of the Halifax Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn "Rose" Roma; daughters, Joyce Forsythe, Sharon Tanner; grandson, Michael Forsythe (wife Meena); great-granddaughter, Marika. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward "Pete" Tanner. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. She had been employed for many years with Spencer Company of Boston as a bookkeeper, until her retirement.
