SCOTT (Zwicker), Eva Victoria - 103, Chester, died October 20, 2007, in Shoreham Village Home for Special Care, Chester. Born in Blandford, she was a daughter of the late Marcus and Alice (Boutilier) Publicover. Eva attended school in Marriott's Cove and taught school in the area for two years prior to her marriage to her husband, Ira. She had a great interest in politics and was a life member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Eva was predeceased by her first husband, Ira Lee Zwicker; her second husband, Melvin Scott; sister, Ida Dolly Muhl; brothers, Palmer, Murray, Ralph John . There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Stephen's Anglican Church, Chester, Rev. Leonard Bednar officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Special thanks to all the people at Shoreham Village Home for all their kindness and attention to Eva over the many years she was a resident there. KRESSNER, Georgina Theresa
KRESSNER, Georgina Theresa - 81, of 2078 Sydney Rd., Reserve Mines, passed away peacefully, at home, on Thursday, October 18, 2007. Born in Reserve Mines, she was the eldest daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Martin) Mackie. A loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Georgina was a dedicated member of the Cape Breton Liberal Association, was an avid dart player and a long-time member of St. Joseph's CWL. Georgina is survived by daughters, Sheila (Kevin) Murphy, Glace Bay; Claire (Nick) Tobin, Timberlea; special nephew, Wilfred (Shirley) Kressner, New Glasgow; granddaughters, Rachael (Mario) Falvo, Welland, Ont.; Rebecca Kressner, Williams Lake, B.C.; Dr. Shannon Murphy, DVM, Halifax; great-grandson, Adam Joseph Falvo; sisters, Mary (Jim) Campbell, Grand Lake Road; Maurine (Gerard) Shoemaker, Kitchener; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred; son, Freddy; sisters, Marjorie Krulicki, Isabel Farrell; brothers, Daniel, Tom, Emmanuel and John Mackie. Visitation was held Sunday in Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated today at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Rev. Gerald Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in Georgina's memory are suggested to the Braemore Home, SPCA or charity of choice.
PERRY, Henry Joseph
PERRY, Henry Joseph - 83, Woodside/Dartmouth, passed away in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, on October 21, 2007, after a long battle with cancer and much suffering. Henry, son of the late John Baptiste (Poirier) and Susan (Gallant) Perry, was born in Minto, N.B., on August 30, 1924, and grew up in Summerside, P.E.I. He was one of 13 children. He later served 25 years in the Navy and was on the ship Sieux which cleared the beaches for the men to go ashore at Normandy in the Second World War. He was a decorated soldier and a very much loved husband and father. Henry Perry always had a joy for life which brought laughter to everyone he met in the run of a day. Even the Sobey's clerks fought over who would get to wait on him. He loved to build model ships, did all his own home repairs and loved to cook Acadian dishes. Henry is survived by his dearly beloved wife, Theresa Anita (Powers) Perry, who will miss him so very much; his daughters, Patricia Killeen, Paulette Braman and Margaret (Peggy) Naugle, and his son, Paul Henry Perry, who idolized him and will miss him more than words can ever convey. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Lisa Mazzucco, Darcy Killeen, Michael Braman, Michelle Braman, Jamie Perry and Michael Perry; great-grandchildren, Sascha Mazzucco, Joseph and Jessica Perry; his brothers, Francis Perry, Charles Perry, John Jr. Perry, Elmer Perry, Joseph Perry, and his sisters, Marie Harvey, Nola Walters, Lilly Savoie, Theresa Gallant and Shirley Lefler. The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, October 23, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth. Cremation will follow this visitation and a funeral mass, as well as interment, will take place 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 26, in St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church/Cemetery in Summerside, P.E.I., Father Greg Conway officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia would be appreciated.
MARTELL, Steven Clarence
MARTELL, Steven Clarence - 49, Halifax. It is with great sadness that we announce that Steven died peacefully in the VG Site, QEII, with Leukemia, surrounded by family on October 21, 2007. Born in Halifax, he was the son of Clarence Martell and the late Mary Tillie (LeBlanc). He attended the School of the Deaf in Amherst from 1967 until his graduation in 1986. He was involved in the Deaf Community and loved to cook and had a big heart. Steven worked as a cook for many years at Flamingo and Salty's Restaurant. He is survived by his sister, Sandra (Wayne) Purchase; brothers, Patrick, Doug (Jeannie), Michael (Christine), Richard and Joseph (Denise), all in Halifax; nieces, Tausha, Tanya, Jacqueline, and nephews, Michael and Brandon, Nathaniel. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, in Atlantic Funeral Home Chapel. Burial in Oakridge Memory Gardens beside his beloved mom. WILLIAMS, Eremeny Louise - 92, Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany, formerly of Lockeport, passed away in Rosedale Home for Special Care on October 21, 2007. Born in West Green Harbour, she was a daughter of the late Johnson and Mary (Stuart) Williams. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her early years Eremeny did restaurant work. She was a very social, outgoing person. She is survived by nephew, Richard Enslow, as well as several great-nieces including Mabel Tanner, who was very close to her great Aunt Eremeny. She was predeceased by brothers, Samuel, Daniel, Theodore, Burnley and Herbert; sisters, Abigail, Lavinia and Mabel. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Lockeport. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Holy Cross Anglican Church, Lockeport with Rev. Matthew Sponagle officiating. Interment in Lockeport Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Canadian Diabetes Association.

TEED, Gladys Evelyn - 82, Belmont, Colchester Co., passed away Saturday, October 20, 2007, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Parrsboro, she was a daughter of the late George and Gladys (MacAloney) MacAloney. She was a member of Belmont United Church and the U.C.W. Evelyn worked hard on the family farm. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, crocheting, reading and doing puzzles. She also enjoyed her times with Justine and Miranda Fisher. She is survived by sisters, Helen Lennerton, Old Barns; Dorothy Works, Lower Truro; sister-in-law, Della Loughead; several nieces and nephews; Gary Fisher, who was like a son to Evelyn. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray; infant daughter, Brenda Jean; brother, John; sister, Margaret. No visitation by request. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Robie Street Cemetery, Truro with Rev. Gerald Kerr officiating. A reception will follow in Mattatall Funeral Home. BRADLEY, Freda Winnifred
BRADLEY, Freda Winnifred - 63, Halifax and Dartmouth, most recently of Enfield, passed away Friday, October 19, 2007, in the VG Site, QEII. Born May 31, 1944 in Saint John, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Reverend Hubert and Anne Ruth Doody. Freda attended Dalhousie University and obtained her B.A. in 1965 and later worked at Baycrest Jewish Home For The Aged in Toronto. She later graduated with her Masters from the Maritime School of Social Work in 1980. In the Halifax area, she worked at the Department of Community Services and later at the Department of Mental Health at the Nova Scotia Hospital as well as at Bedford Sackville Mental Health Clinic. Freda had worked for the department of Mental Health for 20 years during which time she was very socially active in her community as well as championing many social causes on a broader scale as head of the social Action Committee within the Nova Scotia Association of Social Workers, having served as vice and then later president of NSASW, working for equality and improving the life of those less fortunate and being the voice of those in need. Freda retired after 20 years of work in the Mental Health field. After her retirement, as well as during her tenure, she devoted much of her time to such causes and was a member of many groups for Social Action and change. She made many dear friends through this journey of devotion and compassion. Freda is survived by her son, Jason B. Bradley; sisters, Margaret Anne Doody and Mary Howell-Jones; niece, Meghan Doody; nephew, Eamon Doody. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Arthur Edward Cornwall, who was a notable turn of the century photographer in the Hantsport area. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where Freda's family will receive friends from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, and where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday. O'HARA, Frances Alice - 92, Halifax, passed away peacefully in her devoted husband's arms, on the morning of October 19, 2007, at home. Frances, Grammie , was our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and it is with deep sadness that we honour her memory and legacy. Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late Whitman and Grace (Burke) Turner. Frances was the strong leader of our family, a true matriarch, the glue that held us all together. Nothing made her happier than cooking fabulous dinners for family gatherings, where not only family but their friends were always welcomed. She reveled in having her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren around her. Over the years we were all the happy recipients of Frances' home-knit socks, scarves and sweaters. Her outstanding smocking was second to none and her talent for creating the most wonderful handmade gifts for her family was endless. Frances' love of and flair for fashion was well-known in Halifax through her association with Elle Boutique, O'Hara Merchants, and the Sagittarius clothing stores. She was an award winning millinery consultant with Simpson's. Frances enjoyed sharing her passion and knowledge of hats and fashion with countless women. Her adventurous spirit found her traveling the world, including spending time in Africa, riding camels and going on safaris; combing the tombs of Egypt; sunbathing in the Dominican Republic; climbing Dunn's Falls in Jamaica; touring the Grand Canyon, and enjoying the lights of Las Vegas. With broken hearts, great love and wonderful memories, she leaves to mourn her husband, Keith O'Hara, Halifax; sons, Gerald (Linda), Dartmouth; Glen (Eleanor), Dartmouth; Gary (Karen), Halifax, and most-devoted daughter, Gwendolyn MacLean (Leonard), Halifax. She was Grammie to 11 grandchildren, Colleen (Peter) Gallant, Dartmouth; Kerry-Glen O'Hara, Winnipeg; David (Anna) O'Hara, New York; Timothy (Daphne) O'Hara, Montreal; Jordan, Geoffrey, Sean and Liam O'Hara, Halifax; Stuart MacLean, Toronto; Christopher MacLean and Kathleen MacLean, Halifax. She was Great-Grammie to Josh and Paige Gallant, Dartmouth, and Brandyn O'Hara, New York. She is survived by sisters, Pauline Harrington, Montreal; Madeline Romard (David), Calgary, and Noreen Peers, Truro. She was predeceased by sisters, Marie Demone and Ruth Taylor; brothers, Vincent, Bruce, Brice, and Robert Turner. Also left to mourn are many nieces and nephews. HENNEBERRY, Marie Evangeline - 64, Halifax, passed away peacefully, after a courageous but short struggle with Scleroderma, on Saturday, October 20, 2007, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, with her loving daughters by her side. Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, Marie was the daughter of the late Joseph Garland and Evangeline (Sampson) Garland Wyman. Marie worked at Moirs before staying home to raise her family. Once her daughters were grown, she went on to work for many years as a lunch monitor with the special children at Westmount School - a job she took great pride and pleasure in doing. Marie loved life and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed the casino and singing karaoke with her friends at the Vimy Legion on Saturday nights. Marie is survived by her daughters, Theresa Henneberry and Wanda (St. John) Hall; grandchildren, Matthew and Angela Doiron; brother, John Garland, Lower Sackville; sister, Lillian (Dennis) Pallister, Stratford, Ont., and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity to all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Henneberry; brothers, William and Jake Garland. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. 17, Greenfield, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, passed away on November 26, 2008, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Truro, he was the son of Gordon and Shauna (Davis) Allen. Tyler was a Grade 10 student at Cobequid Education Centre and also worked at the Truro Heights Irving. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father, his X-box, snowboarding, dirt bikes, loud music, spending time with family and friends and being with his girlfriend Mariah. Besides his parents, Tyler is survived by his sister, Jessica; maternal grandparents, Basil Davis Jr. (Lynda), Five Islands; paternal grandparents, Reagh Allen (Jean), Parrsboro; maternal great-grandmother, Evelyn Davis, Five Islands; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 29, from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Rev. BARRY (Bellefontaine), Nancy Mary
BARRY (Bellefontaine), Nancy Mary - 58, Dartmouth. I left this life on September 29, 2008. I was the eldest of seven to the late Placid Bellefontaine and Mabel (Dorey). I have traveled to join my family and friends who have gone before me to meet Our Heavenly Father. I grieve to leave behind my husband and soul mate of 36 years, Stephen Barcley; eldest son, Shawn Patrick (Laura); granddaughter, Naomi Selene, and youngest son, Ryan Francis (Jacqueline). Also left are all my siblings, Betty Walsh (Denis), children Darryl and Cheryllyn, Cletus (Fay), Faye MacFarlane (Terry), children Kelly, Derek and Colin; Heather Flemming (Greg), children Tyler and Brent; Barbara Juteau (Ralph), son Joseph; David (Martha), children Max and Molly. I leave behind some special friendships that for the past years have been a source of comfort, joy and laughter, and my dog Jada. I was born in Halifax on January 1, 1950, worked and lived there until I met my husband whom I married April 19, 1975, and then, am proud to say, became a Dartmouthian. Our sons were brought up on Wildwood Boulevard in the Woodlawn area. After school I worked at Maritime Tel and Tel for 10 years, taking 14 years off, and became involved in many aspects of the boys' early years. I then worked at the Nova Scotia Hospital for nine and a half years, subsequently working in several departments of the provincial government, most recently the Department of Health. I have been a dedicated member along with my husband at St. John's Anglican Church, Westphal, for many decades. It has been for us the key to our spiritual life and loving friendships. I enjoyed sharing our Cape Breton home on Janvrin's Island, with my friends as well as our children's friends. To all my friends, relatives and church family, you will all be with me as I journey home. Live life to the fullest as it is full of wonder. I leave with no regret, counting my blessings.
