Irene Frances Flinn

FLINN, Irene Frances - 80, Lower Sackville, died November 19, 2003, at home. Born in Porter's Lake, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Clara (Briggs) Rafter.

She was a member of the World Wide Church of God, a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Surviving are her husband, Bill; daughter, Jean Clara Flinn; sons, Wayne, all of Lower Sackville; Bill (Margaret), Stewiacke; grandchildren, Carole, David, and Adam. She was predeceased by many brothers.

A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 26, in World Wide Church of God, Caldwell Road, Dartmouth, Rev. Owen Willis officiating. Burial in Oakridge Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville.

Donations may be made to The Arthritis Society.

Alastair King Smith

SMITH, Alastair King - 74, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully with family by his side Thursday, November 20, 2003, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Capt.

Alexander and Alice (King) Smith. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Throughout his life, Alastair was employed with Canada Post, until retirement, after many years of service. He was a member of the Cornwallis Branch, Masonic Lodge 95. Alastair was dedicated to his family and church, where he had been involved for over 50 years. He was a faithful and gentle man who will be sadly missed by all who knew him throughout his life. Alastair loved and cared for animals, and will be remembered for his generosity to various charities.

He will fondly be remembered by his son, Alastair C. Smith; daughter, Elizabeth K. Smith, both of Dartmouth; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife, Elizabeth Ann (Collings) in 2000; son, Christopher in 1999; brother, Roger Smith; sisters, Ruth Miller, Katherine Gage.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 22, in Stair Memorial United Church, Hester Street, Dartmouth, Rev. Sandra Carruthers officiating. Interment will take place in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.

Family flowers only. In memory of Alastair, remembrances may be made to Canadian Liver Foundation, Halifax Chapter. Arrangements are under the care of Atlantic Funeral Home, Dartmouth.

Robert Douglas Conrod

CONROD, Robert Douglas - 39, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 19, 2003, at home with family present. Born March 16, 1964, in Halifax, he was a son Cecil Conrod, Dartmouth, and the late Elizabeth (Fall) Conrod.

Robert owned and operated Woodside Autobody and R. & E. Autobody, Sackville for many years. He then went to work with Rhyno Demolition before being employed with Maritime Steel where he worked until his illness. Robert enjoyed anything to do with cars-antique cars, racing and restoring-this was his passion. Robert was expecting the birth of his first grandchild.

Besides his father, he is survived by his wife, the former Ellen Snyder; daughter, Maggie, at home; son, James, Dartmouth; sister, Mary Anne (George) Purves, Lake Charlotte; brother, Clarence (Ann), Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre.

Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Robert's memory to Canadian Cancer Society, 73 Tacoma Dr., 3rd Floor, Dartmouth, NS B2W 3Y6, would be appreciated.

Roy Edward Rook

ROOK, Roy Edward - 44, Dartmouth, passed away Monday, November 17, 2003, at home. Born March 15, 1959, in Hollywood, Fla., he was a son of Carol (Jones) Rook, Dartmouth and the late Morton Rook.

Roy was a volunteer at Hilltop Villa, Dartmouth, and a member of New Beginnings, Dartmouth. Roy will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his pet cockateil, Sami.

Besides his mother, Roy is survived by sisters, Lori (Larry) Badour, Kingston, Ont.; Amie Rook (Ed), Dartmouth; nephew, Matthew Rook, Dartmouth.

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday. Interment in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in Atlantic Funeral Home Family Reception Centre.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in Roy's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 101-6080 Young St., Halifax, NS B3K 5L2 or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, 204-5523 Spring Garden Rd., Halifax, NS B3J 9Z9, would be appreciated.

Giuseppe Santilli

SANTILLI, Giuseppe - Passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2003, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, after 93 wonderful years. He was born in Pratola Peligna, L'Aquila, Italy, February 8, 1910.

Giuseppe is survived by his wife of 61 years, Maria; children, Egizia (Frank Brown), Felicia (Angelo Iacchelli), Giovanna (Mike Sinclair), Anna (Bill Camp), Venanzio (Christine Miller), Elena (Clarence Talbot). He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren, Jerome (Pam) and Danny Bailey, Rossella, Stefania, Dario and Selenia Iacchelli, Alexa, Elizabeth and Jacqueline Camp, Adrienne and Adam Pottie, Michael, Robert, Anneke and Reika Santilli, Geoffrey, Richard and Marisa Talbot; sister, Marzietta Silvestri.

Giuseppe was predeceased by his parents, Giovanni and Egizia (Giardini) Santilli; brother, Vincenzo; sisters, Agata and Maria, all of Italy.

Giuseppe immigrated to Canada in 1949, and worked at Oland's Brewery until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the Italian Club, where he enjoyed many hours of bocce and other games with his friends. He was an avid gardener, but his priority was always his family.

The family extends much appreciation and thanks to Dr. Ernest Johnson, his long-time physician and family friend. Thanks also to all the physicians, especially Dr. Mears, Dr. Roberts and their team, to all the nurses and the staff at the QEII Health Sciences Centre for their care and kindness during his hospital stay.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Friday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. Funeral service will take place 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church, North Street, Halifax, Father Lloyd O'Neill and Father Raymond Mura officiating. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.

Caydence Christina and Catherine Hope Wyse

WYSE, Caydence Christina and Catherine Hope - Twin daughters of Russell Jr. and Melissa Williams Wyse, Dartmouth, died November 18, 2003, in IWK Health Centre.

Surviving are maternal grandmother, Carolann Tupper, Halifax; paternal grandfather, Russell Wyse Sr., Lower Sackville; several great-grandparents and great great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

They were predeceased by maternal grandfather, Richard Reeves; paternal grandmother, Deanna Wyse.

Private family service will be held 1 p.m. Monday in Oakridge Chapel. Burial to follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens.

Donations to IWK Health Centre.

Arrangements entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr.
