Doris A. (Levy) Davidson
1949-2009
DAVIDSON (Levy), Doris Anna - 59, Truro, formerly of Windsor, passed away Monday, November 16, 2009, with her family by her side. She was a daughter of the late Percy and Mildred (Rafuse) Levy.
She was a very loving mother and grandmother, and her family meant the world to her. Doris was a fabulous woman with many varied interests and a real zest for life. She first studied Theology, obtained a Teacher's Degree and then went on to be a successful salesperson in many fields. She was a strong-spirited woman with an extremely kind heart and a very giving soul. She was a creative individual who enjoyed reading books, writing, folk art, needlework, crafts, shopping and challenging herself.
The family would like to offer sincere thanks to the many doctors, nurses and other caregivers who provided exceptional care and humour during Doris' battle with cancer. She always stayed positive, strong, optimistic and kept her smile on. She was a special, unique individual and to know Doris was to love Doris. She will be extremely missed by her family and all other lives she's touched.
She is survived by children, Judy, Jody (Alana), Jeff, and Patti (Tim); grandchildren, Kristen, Sydney, Jessie, Johnny, Tim, Trent and Tyler; sister, Hilda Dill; brothers, Gordon (Karen); Edward (Crystal); many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her common-law husband, John LeBrun.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, November 19, in Vaughan Community Cemetery, Vaughan, Hants Co., Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. Myrtle P. Anthony
1921-2009
ANTHONY (Murphy), Myrtle Pearl — 87, Windsor, Hants Co., passed away peacefully near dawn Sunday morning, November 22, 2009, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, three days before her 88th birthday.
Myrtle was born in Hartville on November 25, 1921, one of 11 children of Frank and Pearl (McAuldin) Murphy. Two now remain, Erma Vaughan, Three Mile Plains and Karl Murphy, Ellershouse. Besides her parents, Myrtle was predeceased by her sisters, Nellie, Ethel, Muriel and brothers, Herb, Frank Reid, Owen, Ted and Frank Murphy Jr. in infancy. She is survived by her children, Elaine Hunt, Victoria, B.C.; Gary Anthony, Dartmouth; Deanna Anthony, Winnipeg, Man.; Sheri Anthony, Truro and Suzzanne Duncan, Waverly; as well as 12 adult grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
She outlived most all of her peers who were also her friends. Myrtle loved all her family and grandchildren dearly. Her cheerful ways and kind heart will be greatly missed by all.

PEMBERTON, Robert “Blaine” - 64, of Falmouth, Hants Co., passed away at home on Sunday, December 20, 2009.
Never let it be said that I did not live a full and happy life. I was born healthy and normal to loving parents and the best brothers and sister. I went to Sunday school and church, Cubs and Scouts and 4-H. I had friends and was a friend to others. I found employment after high school. I met a beautiful girl and fell in love. We got married and had three wonderful children. I held them as babies and watched as they grew and developed. I held their babies. I skipped rocks, coasted down hills, skated on ponds, rode bikes and flew kites. I rode a horse and traveled by cars and trains, boats and planes. I saw sunrises and sunsets and the moon and stars. I picked dandelions, buttercups and daisies for my mother when I was a young boy. I shovelled snow and piled firewood. I brought ice from under sawdust to put in the icebox. I milked cows and gathered fresh eggs from under warm hens. I churned milk to make butter. I jumped in haymows. I went to concerts and parades. I ate chocolates, apple pie, lemon pie and fish and chips. I drank Coke. I built houses and worked on cars and trucks. I was able to make decisions and figure things out. I could express myself to others. I could read, write, talk and run. I wanted things I didn't have and had many things I didn't need. I played sports. I enjoyed music. I never learned to play my guitar but marvelled at those who could. I had dreams and hopes and aspirations. I served on boards and committees. I had disappointments and failures as well as successes. I have provided care and been cared for by others. I have prayed for others and others have prayed for me. I have given and I have received. I have laughed and I have wept. I have forgiven and been forgiven. When I was away, I always wanted to be home. At the end of each day I knew my family was waiting for me there. I was able to love and feel love. I was also able to feel sadness and despair at the loss of family members and friends. I had never known such heartbreak, sorrow and loneliness as when Carolyn became ill and died. With God's help, time, family and friends, I was able to begin a new life. I met another beautiful person - Ann Marie. We loved and respected each other. We prayed that our feelings were acceptable in God's sight. We were married with His blessing and those of our family and friends. She, her children and grandchildren brought so much love and joy back into my life, along with my own family. We have six grandchildren. I don't know what lies ahead. My faith tells me there is an everlasting life in His Kingdom and that because of my faith He has a place there for me. I trust you will come to have your own relationship with Him, through his Son, Jesus Christ. Oh, I have lived a full life, please do not be too sad at my passing. Live a full life!
Blaine will be deeply missed by his family, wife, Ann Marie (Harley); sons, Greg (Carolyn), Jason (Cing) and Drew; daughters, Lisa (Stephen) and Andraya (Randy); grandchildren; Abigail, Ian, Brennan, Cameron, Boston and Harley; brothers, Fred (Nancy), Ken (Judy) and Steven (Dorothy); sister Donna (Grutter) and many nieces and nephews. Blaine is predeceased by his father, Frederick; mother, Dorothy, and first wife, Carolyn.

ELDRIDGE, Mary Ellen — 88, Falmouth, Hants Co. It is with great sadness the family of Mary announce her passing on Saturday, January 30, 2010, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Mary was a daughter of the late Charles and Laura (Millen) MacLean.
Mary and her late husband John, enjoyed travelling and camping. In her younger years Mary also loved to dance and play card games. Right up until the very end Mary could often be found in the kitchen baking or cooking, which she loved to do. She was a wonderful mother and nanny and will be sadly missed by her children, John "Blaine" (Donna), Falmouth; Wanda Eldridge, Windsor; grandsons, Andrew and Darren Phillips, whom Mary adored dearly and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, John Thomas Eldridge; brother, Wilfred MacLean; sisters, Stella Levy, Dorothy Fish, Joan Laurence and Jean MacLean.

Bessie "Bobbie" J. Dukeshire
1920-2010
DUKESHIRE, Bessie Joan "Bobbie" — 89, Hantsport, Hants Co., passed away peacefully surrounded by family members in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, on Friday, January 29, 2010. Born December 21, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Elizabeth Gunn of England.
She was raised and educated in London, England. Prior to the war years along with her family she enjoyed summers in the South Coast of England, particularly Lyme Regis area. As a teenager she was billeted to a farm in Morcombe Bay area of Northern England for more than a year. After returning to London she was with the air raid service and was employed with the British Civil Service. In May of 1945, during the Second World War, she met and married the love of her life, Morse Eugene Dukeshire. She came to Canada as a War Bride on the ship the Lady Nelson. They resided in Windsor for a year before moving to Hantsport where she resided for over 60 years. She was a long-time member of The Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Lucknow Branch No. 109, Hantsport and served in various capacities. In her younger years she sang at home constantly and later joined the local choral group. She enjoyed reading to the point that she would rather read than eat. She played scrabble nightly for years and enjoyed daily crosswords. She was famous for her ginger molasses cookies, and knitted afghans, mittens and gloves as church donations and donated to many other charities. Bobbie loved animals, especially dogs and horses. Along with her husband and friends she travelled to Europe and along the Atlantic Seaboard as far as Florida. Bobbie was predeceased by Eugene in 1981 and grandson, Nicholas in 1979. She is survived by sons, Peter (Star), South Rawdon; Thomas (Shelley), Greenfield, Kings Co.; grandchildren, Juanita, Richard, Aaron, Selena (Daren) and Rebecca (Darrell); her adored great-grandchildren, Elijah, Bergen, Abigail and Mya.

Marion Rosamond "Rossie" Wilson
1921-2010
WILSON, Marion Rosamond “Rossie” - 88, Truro, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.

Born and raised in Margaree, Marion Rosamond Wilson was one of 10 children. Working on the farm, she learned early on the lessons she carried through her whole life: resourcefulness, industriousness and the importance of family. She was devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Loving and benevolent, resilient and tenacious, most of us knew there were two ways of doing things - Nan’s way or the wrong way.
Rossie married Vernon in 1944 and supported him as he built Wilson Equipment from the ground up in Truro, N.S. After his sudden passing in 1975, Rossie immersed herself in her community. Rossie became part of the very fabric of her town. She was the first female golfer in Truro to record a hole-in-one. Whether you were a United Church member, a business owner, or simply a neighbour who greeted her on her daily walk, you knew Rossie.
Later in life, illness began to take its toll, eroding her independence. True to form, she fought to maintain her autonomous lifestyle. I can still hear her protests of, “I can do it!” while cradling her broken wrist in a sling, hovering as I assembled a chicken sandwich (her favourite). Macular degeneration, stroke and dementia may have taken her body and mind, but her “will” remained strong, fighting to stay with us as long as she could. Rossie was the last to ever ask for help, the first on your doorstep in a time of need to offer help, apple pie in hand. With cheese, of course. Thanks Nan, we will miss you.
Rossie is survived by her son, V. Graham Wilson (Linda Landymore), Windsor; daughter, Brenda (Peter) Phipps, Gaspereau; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as siblings, Lila MacPhee, Brookfield; Yvonne Lyons, Sydney; Harry Ethridge, Middle River; Abbie Ingraham, Truro; Anne Baxter, Antigonish and Rena Jelic, Coquitlam, B.C. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon G. Wilson; sisters, Sally and Josephine; and brother, Tom.

DYKENS (Lantz), Stephanie Bonita — 63, Three Mile Plains, Hants Co., passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at home. Born on December 19, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Peggy (Townsand) Lantz. Stephanie was employed in the kitchen at Hants Community Hospital in Windsor for many years. She enjoyed her Tuesday evening sewing with her sisters and nieces, darts, camping at her sister, Wendy's and brother, Darrell's as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Stephanie also enjoyed her yearly shopping trip to Maine with Charlie, Donnie and Wendy. Stephanie greatly enjoyed the special retirement trip she got to take in 2004 to Australia to visit her brother, Brian. Stephanie is survived by her husband of 47 years, Charles Dykens, Three Mile Plains; sons, Andrew (Patsy Lorencvitch), Lower Sackville; Jamie (Shirley Ormon), Three Mile Plains; daughter, Bonnie (Kevin) Langille, Three Mile Plains; grandchildren, Tara Dykens (Cory Matheson), Jacob Langille and Noah Langille; great-grandchildren, Amanda Caldwell, Hayden Matheson and Kayla Matheson; step-grandsons, Jason Flynn, Ryan Lorencovitch and Jonathan Langille; sisters, Sheila (Nick) Swinamer, Three Mile Plains; Daphne (Jimmy) Wells, Three Mile Plains; Janice (Joey) McCarthy, Newport Station; Wendy Lantz (Donnie Swinamer), Wile Settlement; brothers, Brian (Rosemary) Lantz, Australia; Darrell (Edna) Lantz, Allan (Valerie) Lantz and Peter (Crystal) Lantz, all of Three Mile Plains; several nieces and nephews. Bertha J. Barker

BARKER (Lantz) (Sheehy), Bertha Jean — 85, of Mount Denson, Hants Co., passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, after a battle with cancer that spanned almost 50 years.
Bertha was born in Falmouth, on October 2, 1924 and was married to her first husband, the late Walter Vernon Sheehy (1957) of Northfield, N.S. and wife of her second husband, the late Claude Bernard "Bob" Barker (1977) of St. Croix, N.S. She was also predeceased by a brother, Frederick Carl "Fred" Lantz (1976) of Falmouth, and by her daughter-in-law, Sharon Anne (Omar) Sheehy (1984) of St. Stephen, N.B. Bertha is survived by her son, Vernon Phillip (Teresa) Sheehy, Mount Denson; grandchildren, Jocelyn Heather Sheehy (Rick), Mount Uniacke; and Dennis Walter Sheehy, Halifax. Bertha is also survived by a sister-in-law, Frances B. Lantz, Falmouth; niece Shirley Jean Lantz, Bridgewater; and a nephew, Edward C. "Eddie" Lantz, Calgary; also a foster brother, Robert L. Johnson, Mount Denson. Bertha was a resident of Mount Denson for 63 years. She will be missed greatly, but her memory will live on in the hearts and minds of her family and friends.
