Mr. James Keith Purcell
August 29, 1922 - April 6, 2008
PURCELL, James Keith, Sergeant (Ret'd) - Passed away peacefully in Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Hospital, QEII on April 6, 2008, at the age of 85 years.
Beloved husband of Jessie (Butler).
He was predeceased by his first wife of 52 years, Doreen (Lacy); sisters, Midge Dempster, Shirley Francis, and Paige Norton; dear father of Elizabeth (Garry), Thomas (Karen), Jason (Brenda).
He is survived by brothers, Jack, Rich (Beryl), and sister, Phyllis (Bob) Ranger.
Beloved Damper and Grandpa to Shannon (Jim), Megan, Ryan, Cody, Brady, Cory, and great-grandfather to Anastasia.
Favoured uncle of Bud (Kathy) and loved uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Keith voluntarily enlisted with the RCAF in 1944 was stationed overseas during the Second World War.
He served with pride and honour as an air frame technician for 23 years before retiring as Maintenance Crew Chief (Sgt.) in 1967.
Friends are invited to visit at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 6552 Bayers Rd., on Friday, April 11, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral to take place Saturday, April 12, at 10 a.m. in Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 6032 Normandy Dr., Halifax, Father Gilbert Bertrand, O.M.I. officiating.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the nurses and staff at Camp Hill Veterans' Memorial Building, QEII, for their care.

Mr. William "Bill" Robert Rankin
September 16, 1928 - April 7, 2008
RANKIN, William Robert " Bill " - 79, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Monday April 7, 2008, in Oakwood Terrace.
Born in Long Beach, Ont., he was a son of the late William and Margaret Rankin.
Bill began his career with CIL in Toronto, he was transferred in 1967 to Montreal and in 1974 he was transferred to Dartmouth where he retired in 1986.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and both he and his wife, Ivy, enjoyed spending their time together on the golf course after their retirement.
Bill is survived by daughters, Sharon (Bob) Rankin-Jardin, Montreal, Que.; Heather (Joe) MacDonald, Dartmouth; Wendy (Andy) McIntosh, New Glasgow; Tracy (Rick) Poyton, Kingston, Ont.; grandchildren, Glynn, Declan, Meaghan, Lindsay, and Hayley.
Bill was predeceased by his wife, Ivy; brother; Don;sister, Peggy, and a grandson in infancy.
A rrangements have been entrusted to AtlanticFuneral Home,771 Main st. Dartmouth.
Cremation has taken place.
In keeping with Dad's wishes a family graveside service will be held 2p.m. Thursday, April 10, in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Jessie Margaret Roberts
July 10, 1920 - April 3, 2008
Jessie Margaret Roberts age 87, of Amherst passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, N.S.
Born in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Teddy and Margaret (Cormier) Gaudet.
She was a stay at home Mom who loved bingo, fishing and camping.
Jessie had a passion for digging clams and enjoyed raking blueberries.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Jessie is survived by five daughters Freda Jesso of Saint John, N.B., Ada (Earl) Ayer of Fenwick , Marilyn (Gary) Jonah of Chignecto and Stella (Wallace) Chaisson of Tidnish and Diane Roberts of Amherst, four sons Jimmy (Rita) and Roger both of Saint John, Richard (Debbie) of Alberta and Wayne (Rachelle) of Amherst, 28 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Andrew, an infant son Allan, sisters Eliza Tattrie, Rose Dupuis, Mary Briggs, Albina MacDonald and Marie Gauthreau and one brother Aurelle Gaudet.
Her remains are resting at Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 2 p.m. from Campbell's Chapel with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in the Amherst Cemetery.

Mr. Max Richard Smith
February 26, 1947 - April 3, 2008
SMITH, Max Richard - 61, Halifax, passed away suddenly on April 3, 2008, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Harry and Ruth (Eisenhauer) Smith.
Max is survived by his wife, Brenda (Vogler); daughter, Sheri (Frank) Visscher, Ontario; grandchildren, Branson and Shaylene; brothers, Clyde, Herbert (Joy), Fred (Hattie); sisters, Grace (George) Dooley, Ruby LeBlanc, Jean (Cyril) Richardson, Lucy (Murray) Nowe, May (Michael) Casey; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister, Jessie (Donald) Williams; brothers, Sidney, Granville (Mary), and a sister in infancy.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road, Halifax.
No visitation or service by request.
