Asaph Veinot Conquerall Mills News Column, Bridgewater Bulletin, dated September 12, 1905.
It is with much sadness that we chronicle the death of our respected citizen, Asaph Veinot, who passed away peacefully at an early hour on September 4th. Mr. Veinot was taken very ill about a month ago and medical aid was summoned at once, but still he kept in a bad state but was able to be up and see all friends who came in. During his illness he was visited by his rector, Rev. R.W. Norwood, whose prayers and scripture readings always cheered his heart and made him feel pleased to think he had such a friend in God to come to see him. He was confirmed by Bishop Binney when a young man and had always been an earnest communicant in the Episcopal Church. Mr. Veinot was a very quiet and unassuming man and respected by all who knew him. He will be much missed in the immediate community where he has resided some thirty years. His death is a sad bereavement to his family which consists of a wife; one loving son and daughter. The other near relatives are two sisters, Mrs. John Zwicker, Mrs. Peninah Rafuse; three brothers, W.E. Veinot of Bridgewater; David Veinot, New Albany; and James Veinot, United States. Besides these he leaves a large circle of friends who mourn his departure, but who know that what seems to them sad loss is his glorious gain. Among the floral offerings which were very rich was a beautiful white cross from Mrs. Kaulback. The funeral service was held on Tuesday morning conducted by Revs. R.W. Norwood and W.E. Gelling, the latter preached the sermon.
