FANCY, Milton Lewellyn - 67, Middle Cornwall, passed away August 19, 2006, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in Lower Cornwall, he was a son of Clarence and Helen (Dimmell) Fancy of Harbourview Haven, Lunenburg. At the age of 14, Milton began his working career with Lawrence Veinotte of Middle Cornwall, now his brother-in-law; later with Maurice Bruhm Lumber Mill, Middle Cornwall, and then with the former Nathan Joudrey and Sons and Dafron Industries, both in Blockhouse. 25 years ago, Milton struck out on his own, founding and operating Milton Fancy & Sons Oars and Paddles. He was a faithful member of New Cornwall United Baptist Church where over the years he was an usher, a member of the finance committee, bell ringer and choir member. Besides his parents, Milton is survived by his wife, Melba (Veinotte); sons, Carson (Lorna Harris and her daughter Ashleigh), Bedford; Van, Middle Cornwall, (Janice Dares, her daughter Angie (Billy LeBlanc), her grandchildren Devin and Mackenzie, and her son Bub Dares); sister, Marguerite Barkhouse, Lower Cornwall; brother, Arnold (Diane), Clearland; nieces and nephews; many, many good friends. No visiting by request. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 29, in New Cornwall United Baptist Church, Rev. Lloyd Gillieo officiating. Burial of ashes will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay. Family flowers only please. MacPHERSON, Barry Albert - 53, Simpsons Corner, Lunenburg Co., passed away Monday, August 18, 2003 in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of Thelma (Frank) MacPherson, Chester and the late Daniel MacPherson. He was a past member of the New Germany and Area Lions Club and past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 102, New Germany. He was employed by Michelin Tires for 32 years. Surviving are his wife, the former Susan Veinot; daughter, Tammy; son, Terry, both at home; several nieces and nephews. Visitation 7-9 p.m., today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Rte. 10, New Germany. Funeral 11 a.m., Wednesday in Epworth United Church, New Germany, Rev. Linda Kuschnik officiating. Private family burial will follow in Epworth Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Health Services of the South Shore.
Mrs. Rebecca Z Joudrey - Mrs. Rebecca Z Joudrey passed away in the early morning hours of August 10th at her home on the Mines Road at Blockhouse. She had been in failing health the past few months but was confined to her bed only the last three weeks she lived. She was born at Newburne, Lunenburg County, N.S., on April 25 1882, the second daughter of Stephen and Eleanor (Veinotte) Eichel, who later moved to Maitland, Lunenburg County, N.S. She was married in 1907 to Edwin A. Joudrey and lived her entire married life in Blockhouse. She was predeceased by her husband in 1967 and a son in October 1971; also three brothers and four sisters. Surviving their mother are sons, Russell, Norman with whom she lived, and Robert, all of Blockhouse; two daughters, Mary Ernst of Stonehurst, and Margaret Woods of Simms Settlement; also twenty grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; also one brother Lemuel Eichel of Maitland, Lunenburg County, N.S. The deceased rested at Mahone Funeral Home until Saturday, August 12th, when she was taken to St. James Anglican Church, where service was conducted by the Very Rev. E B N Cochran. The church choir was in attendance with Miss Gertie Smeltzer.
Hymns sung were "As To Thy Dear Cross We Flee", and "The Lord Is My Shepherd". Pallbearers were Carvel Chiney, Eric Barry, Gordon Ernst, and Nathan Joudrey, Blockhouse. Interment was in the family lot in Blockhouse Cemetery. The floral tributes were many and beautiful, a silent tribute to the departed, showing the high esteem in which she was held by a large circle of friends and relatives. JOUDREY, Katheryn Rugene - 72, Blockhouse, passed away June 23, 2005, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Milton, Queens Co., she was the daughter of the late Rhoda (Crouse) Dagley. Prior to her retirement she had worked as a C.N.A. in the old Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater, and later in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. She is survived by her husband, Robert and son, Ricky (Sharon), all of Blockhouse. She was predeceased by her foster parents, Eli and Jenny Crouse, late of Chelsea. There will be no visitation or service. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to St. James' A.C.W., Blockhouse; Victorian Order of Nurses, Lunenburg County Branch; Muscular Dystrophy Association or any other charity through Mahone Funeral Home, Mahone Bay (902-624-8241.

ACKER, Dorothy Laverta - 56, Northwood Manor, Halifax, died November 28, 1997, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Infirmary Site. Born August 18, 1941, in Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Ezekial and Radie (Woodworth) Acker. Surviving are daughters, Christina (Mrs. Leonard Malay), Charlene (Mrs. Steven Oulette), Halifax; Carolanne (Mrs. Mark Harvey), St. Catharines, Ont.; sons, Troy, Michael, Halifax; sisters, Mrs. Gladys (Mom) Pelton, Wolfville; Adella Woodworth, New Germany; Mrs. Mildred Glister, Wolfville; Mrs. Eileen Stevens, St. Margarets Bay; Mrs. Marion Baker, Digby; Mrs. Roxy Ryan, Dartmouth; Mrs. Betty Deveau, Lake Echo; brother, Leroy, Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co.; 10 grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters, Nellie, Nina; brothers, Billy, Harry. Funeral 2 p.m. today in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax, Rev. Gus Pendleton officiating. Burial in Sunrise Park Cemetery, Hatchet Lake, Halifax Co. In lieu of flowers, donations to Northwood Manor or any charity.

Lemuel Gordon Eikle of Maitland, Lunenburg County, passed away at the Dawson Memorial Hospital in Bridgewater on May 31, 1977. He was 90 years of age.
Born in Maitland on May 21, 1888, he was the son of the late Stephen and Eleanor Eikle and was the last surviving member of his family.Four sisters, Rebecca (Mrs.Edwin Joudrey), Eunice (Mrs. Elias Ernst), Stella (Mrs. Winfred Barry), Hilda (Mrs. John Frank); and three brothers, Theophilus, Fred, and Nepean predeceased him.
He was a carpenter by trade. He spent several years in the U.S.A. Twice married, his first wife, Adelia Eichel, predeceased him in 1954. His second wife, Beulah (Barry) Smicer predeceased him in December, 1977. (probably should be 1976)
He is survived by two sons, Lester of Halifax; and Glenwood of Maitland; four grandchildren, Maxine (Mrs. David Conrad) of Lower Sackville; Deborah (Mrs. Lavon Hazel), Bridgewater;Andrew Eikle, Maitland; and Carl Eikle of Lake Centre; four great-grandchidlren, Christopher and Bradley Conrad and April and Dion Hazel. Also surviving are one stepson, Wallace Smicer of Clearland; three stepdaughters, Marion (Mrs. Whidden Ernst); Barbara (Mrs. Francis Langille); and Mrs.Norma Robar of Halifax; 11 step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. An infant daughter, Ruby, predeceased him.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 3, at 2 o'clock at Christ Anglican Church in Maitland, conducted by the rector, Rev.William E. Dye. The deceased was laid to rest beside his first wife in Christ Church Cemetery.

Lester L. Veinotte 1981 Bridgewater Bulletin
Relatives and friends were saddened to hear of the passing of Lester L. Veinotte, Lynn, Mass., on Sunday, February 15, 1981, at Lynn Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born in Upper Cornwall, November 16, 1891, he was the son of the late Austin and Alice (Daniel) Veinotte. He retired from the General Electric Company in 1957 where he worked as a foreman for 42 years.
He was an army veteran of World War I and a member of the William P. Connery American Legion Post having served as vice-president.
Surviving is a son, Patrolman John L. Veinotte, Lynn; four sisters, Lola, Mrs. Lawrence Hawley, Cape Cod; Mrs. Bessie Chandler, Liverpool; Mrs. Gertrude Veinotte and Mrs. Lillian Joudrey, Cornwall; three brothers, Lloyd and Laurie of Cornwall and Ervin of Maitland; also several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Delia; three daughters, one brother, and a sister.
Funeral service was held from the T.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, followed by a Mass at St.Mary's Chapel. Burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorial donations to the American Heart Association Fund.

FANCEY, Evelyn Belle - 81, 505 Chisholm St., New Glasgow, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, April 8, 2001, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Ezekiel and Maude (Joudry) Oickle. An active member of her community, she faithfully attended First United Baptist Church and was treasurer of the ladies aid. She was treasurer of the Progressive Conservative Women's Association and an active member of The Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Everett; daughter, Patricia (Grant) Smith, St. Margaret's Bay and their children, Taira and Eric; Barbara, Bedford and her children, Mark, Jason; Brenda (Steven) Boudreau, New Glasgow and their children, Ryan, Stephanie, Kelly; sister, Audrey Stuart, Bridgewater. She was predeceased by six brothers and four sisters. No visitation by request. Funeral service 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Baptist Church, Rev. Alan Jorgenson officiating. Reception following in the church hall. Burial in Abercrombie Cemetery at a later date. Donations to Juvenile Diabetes Association, Aberdeen Hospital Auxiliary or a charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow.

MRS. REBECCA IDA WENTZELL
NEW GERMANY - The death of Mrs. Rebecca Ida Wentzell occurred at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Raimey, Maplewood, Saturday. She was a daughter of the late William Veinot and was born in Newburne 78 years ago. Her husband predeceased her some years ago. Surviving are one daughter (Lela), Mrs. Harry Raimey, Maplewood; five sons, Kenneth, Waterville; Russell, Kentville; Carol, Boston; Maurice, Waterville; Gordon, Newburne; one sister, Mrs. May Wentzell, of West Newton, Mass.
The funeral service will be held from the Lutheran Church, Newburne, on Tuesday afternoon, March 15 at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. W. L. Myra, interment will be in the Newburne cemetery.

SCHOFIELD, Nina B. - 83, Berwick, died March 5, 1997, in Northwood Centre, Halifax. Born in Springfield, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late Ezekiel and Radie (Woodworth) Acker. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mayflower Chapter 2, Aylesford; St. Eudora Rebekah Lodge 43, Berwick; Berwick United Baptist Church and MacPherson Auxiliary. Surviving are son, Ronald, Trenton, Ont.; daughter, Marie Alexander, Halifax; brother, Roy, Lawrencetown, Annapolis Co.; sisters, Eileen Stevens, St. Margarets Bay; Roxie Ryan, Betty Deveau, Dartmouth; Mildred Glister, Gladys Pelton, Wolfville; Marion Baker, Digby County; Dorothy Acker, Halifax; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter; brothers, Bobby, Bill, Harry; sisters, Marjorie and Frannie Acker, Nellie Spencer. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, OES service 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Rebekah Lodge service 7:45 p.m. Saturday, all in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, 192 Commercial St., Berwick. VEINOT, Hilda Evangeline - 74, Lawrencetown, died April 28, 1995, in Soldier's Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in West Northfield, Lunenburg Co., she was the eldest daughter of the late Angus and Alma (Woodworth) Bruhm. She was a member of the New Horizon Club, Lawrencetown. Surviving are daughters, Lillian (Mrs. Burnley Nickerson), Lindsay, Ont.; Carolyn Veinot, Joan (Mrs. Sheldon Bisson), Lower Sackville; Brenda (Mrs. Glen Crouse), Wilmot; sons, Vernon, Clarence; Mervin, Saugus, Mass.; David, Deerfield, Yarmouth Co; Garnet, Beaconsfield; sisters, Grace (Mrs. Robert Zwicker), New Cornwall; Phyllis (Mrs. Doran Corkum), Kingston; Mrs. Freda Whynot, Danesville; Mrs. Ola Whynot, Middlewood; Pearl (Mrs. Harry Thretheway), New Germany; Shirley (Mrs. Lewis Tanner), Dayspring; brothers, Gerald, Percy, Randolph, West Northfield; 19 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. BEST, Ruth Marion - 85, 31 James St., Truro and Chester, died June 6, 1997, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in New Albany, Annapolis Co., she was a daughter of the late William and Bessie (Acker) Whynott. She and her husband formerly owned and operated Best's Grocery, Brookfield, for several years and later moved to Truro after selling the store. She was a past member of the United Baptist Church, Brookfield, and was a former nurse's aide, having worked for the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Surviving are son, Lawrence, Stellarton; daughters, Madelyn Best, Halifax; Muriel (Mrs. Jack O'Connell), Chester; brother, Clarence, Wellesley Hills, Mass.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene; brothers, Atwood, Seymour; sister, Elsie. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in Mattatall Funeral Home, Truro. Funeral 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Truro, Rev. Clair MacLeod officiating. Burial in Terrace Hill Cemetery, Truro. Surviving are daughter, Catherine Louise MacIntosh, Lockeport; brothers, Robert, George, Bridgewater; sisters, Audrey Stuart, Bridgewater; Evelyn Fancy, New Glasgow; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. GLISTER, Mildred M."Sally" -87, Wolfville, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2003, in Valley Regional hospital, Kentville. Born in Lake Pleasant, Annapolis Co., she was the daughter of the late Ezekiel and Radie (Woodworth) Acker. Sally lived in the Lower Wolfville area, where she owned and operated Sally's Canteen for 18 years. She was also a member of the Wolfville United Baptist Church. surviving are daughters, Marjorie (Donald Reed), Lakelands; Joan (Bev Hiltz), Minesing, Ont; Judi (John Bresnan), Cambridge; sisters Marion Baker, Digby; Gladys Pelton, Wolfville; Roxie Ryan, Dartmouth; Betty Deveau, Porter's Lake; brother, LeRoy Acker, Lawrencetown. Sally is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren ; 5great great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband, Charles; sisters Nina Schofield, Eileen Stevens, Dorothy Acker, Nellie Spencer, Marjorie Acker and sister Fanie Acker in infancy; brothers, Harry, Bill and Bobby. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 Sunday, July 20, in H.C. Lindsay funeral home, 568 Main St., Wolfville. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 21 in Wolfville Baptist Church, corner of Main street and Highland Avenue, Wolfville, Rev. Stephen Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Willowbank Cemetery, Gaspereau Avenue, Wolfville, Family flowers only. donations may be made in sally's name to the Kidney foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Branch or Canadian cancer Society.
