James Veinotte 1929 Progress Enterprise
On August 19th, James Veinotte, an aged resident of Watford, passed away at his home after a long illness. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jared Veinotte and was born at Bridgewater 77 years ago. Of this family of nine children, two brothers and a sister are now living. The brothers are Stephen
of Bridgewater and William of New Germany and the sister is Mrs. Martha Wilson of Brighton, Mass. By his marriage to Miss Emma Moore of Watford in early life he had three sons, Eugene, Lorne, and Trueman and two daughters, Jessie, wife of Clarence Grimes and Belle, residing in Worcester, Mass. His
second marriage was to Mrs. Letitia Zinck of Rose Bay who survives with one daughter, Miss Mable, at home.
He was a member of the United Church and the funeral service on Friday afternoon, August 23rd, was conducted by Rev. Colin MacRae with interment in the cemetery at Indian Brook.
JOUDREY, Pearl Sylvia - 90, New Germany, formerly of Maitland, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, in Hillside Pines Nursing Home, Bridgewater, where she had been residing for the past several years. Born in Mahone Bay, she was a daughter of the late Winifred and Stella (Eickle) Barry. She was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany. Surviving are her daughters, Barbara (Harry W.) Conrad, Middle LaHave; Lucille (Robert) Wentzell, Jean (Richard) Baker, all of Baker Settlement; Linda (Derrel) Veinotte, Wileville; Carolyn Joudrey (Paul Meisner), Bridgewater; Susan Joudrey (Stephen Briggs), Conquerall Bank; Cathy Joudrey (Michael Rafuse), Parkdale; sister, Jean Nauss, Spryfield; brothers, Donald, Mahone Bay; George (Sylvia), Ontario; 16 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Dawson St. Clair Joudrey; granddaughter, Deborah; sisters, Phyllis Meisner, Shirley Crossland; brothers, Ivan, Ray and John. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. Funeral 11 a.m., Saturday in St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany, Rev. Anna Hoeg officiating. Private family burial will follow in Epworth Cemetery, New Germany. Ervin Perlie Veinotte, 71, of West Northfield, passed away February 26, 2001 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in West Northfield, he was the a son of the late Perlie and Flossie (Zinck) Veinotte. He is survived by his wife the former Marion Feener, sons Allen (Peggy) Veinotte; Kevin (Susan) Veinotte, all of West Northfield; daughters Nancy (Charles) Barkhouse, West Northfield; Norma (Terry) McLeod, Sheet Harbour; Jane (Gary) Veino, West Northfield; grandchildren, Cory, Ryan, Matthew, Jason, Amy, Jonathan, Jamie, Tyler, Neil and twins Mark and Luke; brother Lester (Pauline), West Northfield; sister Margaret (Laird) Arenburg, Truro. VEINOT, Jody Lloyd - 17, Nictaux South, died June 15, 2002, in Varner Mountain, Nictaux South. Born in Middleton, he was a son of Lloyd and Velvet (Veinot) Veinot, Nictaux South. He was a Grade 10 student at Bridgetown Regional High School. He played hockey for the Middleton Mustangs, was on the wrestling team in elementary and Middleton Regional High School. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and going to camp. Jody had an infectious smile and was loved by all. Besides his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Lucy and Bramer Veinot, Nictaux South; Florence Veinot, Torbrook; sisters, Freda, at home; Angela (Brian) Hathaway, Melvern Square. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Cecil Veinot; cousin, Seth Veinot. Visiting 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home. BARRY, John Harold - 86, Maitland, Lunenburg Co., passed away September 4, 2006, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Maitland, he was a son of the late Winfred and Stella (Oickle) Barry. Throughout the years, John has touched the lives of many people. He will be greatly missed and remembered for his service to the community. John served in the Canadian Army, stationed in the Halifax area from 1939 to 1944. He joined National Sea Products in 1945 and was plant electrician until leaving in 1963. He joined Dover Flour in charge of maintenance until his retirement in 1990. He will be sadly missed by his son, Dennis and common-law wife, Detta Alderdice, Dartmouth; grandsons, Scott (Rachel); Craig (common-law wife Stephanie Mailman); Andrew (Chrissy); four great-grandchildren, all in the Dartmouth area; sisters, Jean Nauss, Herring Cove; Pearl Jodrey, Bridgewater; brothers, Donald, Blockhouse; George, Toronto. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Merle Blanche (Garrison); sisters, Phyllis Meisner, Shirley Crossland; brothers, Ivan, Raymond. VEINOTTE, Grace Eileen - 86, Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay, formerly of Middle Cornwall, passed away April 26, 2008, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Farmville, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Elphleda (Spidle) Aulenback. She was a member of the Middle Cornwall Baptist Church and baked for all the community functions until ill health. She is survived by son, Elwood (Cindy), Middle New Cornwall; brother, Palmer Aulenback, Farmville; sister, Frances (Garnet) Oickle, Pine Grove; grandsons, Matthew and James, Middle New Cornwall; niece, Lynda (Rickey) Naugler and children Kyle and Dominic, Pine Grove. Mrs. Alma Mary Slauenwhite
Funeral service for the late Mrs. Alma Mary Slauenwhite was held on Wednesday afternoon, April 7th, at St.James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, conducted by Rev. K. Crouse and Rev. M.J. Findley. Interment was in the Blockhouse Garden of Rest Cemetery.
Mrs. Slauenwhite, who was 29 years old, passed away at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, shortly after being admitted. She was the former Alma Mary Conrad of Conquerall Bank, Lunenburg County. She is survived by her husband and daughter, Janice; parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Conrad of Conquerall Bank; sisters, Shirley (Mrs. Beaumont Nowe), Conquerall Mills; Marie (Mrs. Winfred Daurie), Northwest; Ann (Mrs. Donald Wentzell), New Cumberland; Betty (Mrs. Loraine Knickle), Lunenburg; Christine (Mrs. David Dares), Lunenburg; Rosalind (Mrs. Robert Joudrey), Bridgewater; brothers, George Conrad, New Germany; Bernard Conrad, Conquerall Bank; and Edwin Conrad of Conquerall Bank.

Born in Maitland, she was the daughter of the late Winfred and Stella (Oickle) Barry. She is survived by sons Dwight, Branch LaHave; Edward (Virginia Oickle), Lower Northfield; Gary (Elizabeth Wentzell), West Northfield; daughter Patricia (Eddy Hodder), Middle LaHave; twin grandsons Joseph and Jonathan Crossland; grandson Chad Tanner; granddaughter Vanessa Nauss; sisters Pearl Joudrey, Bridgewater; Jean Nauss, Spryfield; brothers, Ray (Isabelle) and John, both of Maitland; Donald (Ella May), Northwest; George (Sylvia), Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; sister Phyllis Meisner; brother Ivan. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. A memorial service was held at Christ Anglican Church, Maitland on November 24, 2005, Rev. Ian Wissler officiating. A private family burial took place immediately following the service at Christ Anglican Cemetery, Maitland.
Harold Borden Ramey 1961 Bridgewater Bulletin
The death of Harold (Harry) Borden Ramey occurred at his home in Maplewood on Sunday, July 2, 1961, at the age of 60 years. He was the son of Josiah and Emma (Joudrey) Ramey and lived most of his life at Maplewood except for short periods of time spent in the United States and in Western Canada.
Left to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father are his wife, the former Lela Wentzell; a son, Nelson; and a daughter, Dianne, all at home.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs.Winnie Erickson of Worcester, Mass.; and Annie, Mrs. Manson Spidle of Mader's Cove; a brother, Perley of Mexico, Maine; and a large number of nephews and nieces. A brother, Robert and a sister, Grace (Mrs. Nelson Myers) of California predeceased him.
Funeral services were conducted at Newburne in St.Matthew's Lutheran Church, of which the deceased was a faithful member, on July 5 by his pastor, Rev. Glen O'Connor, who spoke comforting words to the bereaved using the text, Matthew 5: 3-9. "Just As I Am, " favourite of the deceased, "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "When The Roll is Called Up Yonder" were sung by the church choir, assisted by members of the Baptist Church Choir of Parkdale.
Pall bearers were six nephews, Olin Spidle, Beecher Spidle, Duncan Spidle, Everette Wentzell, Eldred Wentzell, and Lee Wentzell.
Interment was in the cemetery at Newburne.
VEINOT, Carey Linden (1904-1999) - The angel of death claimed the life of Carey Linden Veinot suddenly on February 28, 1999, at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with her loving family by her side. Born November 7, 1904, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Eva (Eisnor) Hiltz. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She had taught in numerous schools throughout Lunenburg County, retiring from the Mahone Bay School in 1965 after 18 years of service. She was a member of St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay. She is survived by daughters, Miriam Jean (Mrs. Paul Tanner), Oakland; Mary Ann (Mrs. Donald Smith), Mahone Bay; sisters, Daisy (Mrs. Havelock Haughn), Shandaken, N.Y.; Jean (Mrs. Duncan MacDonald), Waterford, Ont.; Phyllis (Mrs. Enos Nauss), Mahone Bay; Doris (Mrs. Ole Remmie), Purcells Cove; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her first husband, Donald Bailey; second husband, James L. Veinot; sister, Lily Wile; brothers, Paul Hiltz and Keith Hiltz; grandson, Linden Tanner; great-grandson, Joshua Veinotte. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today in Mahone Funeral Home, 32 Parish St., Mahone Bay. Funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. James' Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Linda Macdonald officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse. Memorial donations may be made to St. James' Anglican Church, Canadian Diabetes Association or any other charity.
