TRETHEWEY, Harry LeRoy - 76, New Germany, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with his daughter and granddaughter by his side. Born in New Germany, he was a son of the late Leslie and Bernice Trethewey. Harry was a member of IOOF Maple Lodge, New Germany and prior to his illness, he was a woodworker, spending much of his time in his workshop. Surviving are his wife, Pearl Florence (Bruhm); daughter, Edith (Kevin) Himmelman, Chelsea; sons, Gregory (Donna), Pinehurst; Bruce (Solange), Moncton, N.B.; grandchildren, Jordan, Adam, Matthew, Justin, Alexander, Jake, William and Leslie; great-grandchildren, Desirae and Ethan; sister, Maxine (Charles) Musgrove, Dartmouth; brother, Horton (Lorna), Sackville; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Clyde Arthur Trethewey. There will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. Interment will be at a later date. No flowers by request. REEVES, Charles Ronald - 90, New Ross, passed away Friday, November 26, 2004, in the home of his daughter, Eleanor, Steam Mill. Born in New Ross, he was a son of the late Edward and Ella (Veinot) Reeves. Charles was a devoted and loving father to his family and helpful to others. He was the last remaining member of his family. Charles is survived by daughters, Eleanor Woodworth, Steam Mill; Doreen Gates, Niagara Falls, Ont.; Vienna (Haldon) Reeves; daughter-in-law, Beatrice Reeves, both of New Ross; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite; son, Calvin; brothers, Harold, Roland, Ira, Austin, Ray, and Robert; sisters, Ethel, Florence and Daisy; three grandchildren. Visitation will be held 3-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, in H.C. Lindsay Funeral Home, 38 Forties Rd., New Ross, 689-2961. SABEAN, Joshua Ainsley - 27, Berwick, Kings Co., passed away February 1, 2003, at home. Born in Middleton, Annapolis Co., he was a son of Robert and Rose Ann (Whynott) Sabean, Grafton. Josh was a graduate of Central Kings Rural High School and Kingstec Community College, where he had taken carpentry. He worked at Wades Grocery Store, Kentville; Roscoe Construction Ltd., and Michelin Tire Inc., Waterville. He was a kind and generous person who will be remembered as a wonderful dad and a loyal friend. He loved dirt bike riding and snowmobiling. He will be dearly missed by his dog, Brandy. Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Amy Carter; daughter, Brina Cynthia Rose Sabean; sisters, Bobbie Mai (John) Taylor, Halls Harbour; Joanne (Roger) Clayton, Youngs Cove; brothers, Kevin (Tricia Hudson) Sabean, West Dalhousie; Robbie Sabean, Lunenburg; maternal grandmother, May "Mabel" (Simpson) Bennett, Berwick; nephews, Luke and Nick Taylor; nieces, Chelsey Sabean, Tabitha and Casandra Clayton. He was predeceased by brother, Shane Robert Whynott; maternal grandfather, George Bennett; paternal grandparents, Ainsley and Lottie (Blanchard) Sabean. There will be no visitation. HILCHIE, Theodore Harold "Ted" - 87, Chester, passed away October 12, 2000, at home. Born in Chester, he was a son of the late Capt. Harold and Essie Hilchie. He was a long-time member of St. Stephen's Anglican Church. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Hiltz), RN; sons, Gary (Mary), Stratford, P.E.I.; Danny (Judy), Coldbrook; brothers, George and Wharton, Chester; sister, Marie, Yorktown Heights, NY; grandchildren, Martin, Carol, Stephen, Jayson, and Johanna; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant son, Theodore Jr.; brother, Frank; sisters, Elizabeth and Margaret. He was a veteran of the Second World War attaining the rank of Sergeant in the Canadian Army Service Corps. After the war he started a wholesale and retail fish business in Chester and later was joined by his brother, George and formed Hilchie Bros. Ltd. He was a former member of the Chester Municipal Council, Board of Trade, F.E. Butler Branch 44 Royal Canadian Legion, receiving a 50 year pin in 1995; past master of Clarke Masonic Lodge 61, receiving 50 year medal in 2000; past grand steward of Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia; past president of Lunenburg County Boy Scout Association; past president of Lunenburg East Progressive Conservative Association; past president of Chester Golf Club, member of the Board of Trustees; past president of Chester Curling Club; former chairman of zone 5 "South Shore" for Nova Scotia Golf Association and long-time member of Maritimes Seniors' Golf Association. He received the Canadian Confederation Medal (125 year medal) from Lt. Gov. L.R. Crouse on December 8, 1993. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Davis Funeral Home, Chester, with legion service at 7 p.m. and Masonic service to follow at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, all in Davis Funeral Home. OICKLE, Clyde Emery - 71, Whites Lake, Halifax Co., died January 7, 2001, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, Palliative Care Unit. Born in Lower Northfield, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Emery Clyde and Fannie Ameila (Johnson) Oickle. He had worked for Maritime Paper retiring in 1991. Surviving are his wife, the former Betty Ann (Lawson) Baltzer Oickle; daughters, Mary and Yvonne, both of Halifax; sons, Miles "Eddy", Halifax; Bruce, Ontario; brothers, Floyd (Sheila), Jim (Regina), Tyrone (Susan), Miles (Janice); sisters, Irene (Mrs. Gordon Williams), Leora (Mrs. Everette MacDonald), Veronica (Mrs. James Edgar), Mary (Mrs. Wayne Thomas; a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. RUBERT L. VEINOTT
MILLVILLE - The death of Rubert L. Veinott occurred at his home in Millville, Kings County, following a lengthy illness. He was in his 67th year a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Veinott. He is survived my his wife the former Maude Crocker, three brothers, Sidney, Saint John; Dean, of Sydney; and Fred, of Burlington, Hants County. Two sisters, Mrs. Laura Frency, of Boston; and Ruth ( Mrs. S. T. Grimm), of Halifax. Funeral services were held from the Aylesford Baptist Church with Rev. Mr. Jackson officiating. Interment was in the Aylesford Cemetery.

FEINDEL, Warren Aubrey - 67, Oakhill, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2000, in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax. Born in Auburndale, Lunenburg Co., he was the son of the late Aubrey and Ethel (Veinot) Feindel. He had his Masters Home Trade Certificate. He was employed by Gulf Canada and Upper Lakes Shipping Limited, and he went to sea most of his life. Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Silver; son, Darren and wife Elizabeth, Oakhill; daughters, Wendy Finlayson and husband Arthur, Oakhill, Anne Mosher and husband Chad, Chester Basin; grandchildren, Katherine, Sarah and Andrew; sister, Shirley (Mrs. Richard Crouse), Upper LaHave. No visitation at the funeral home by request. A private family burial for the immediate family will be held in the Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater, Capt. Paul Rideout officiating. Mary L. Zwicker, 67, of Baker Settlement, passed away suddenly, at home, Sunday, December 2, 1984.
Born in Midville Branch, she was a daughter of the late Jason and Eva (Ernst) Veinot.
She is survived by her husband, Everette; five daughters, Betty (Mrs. Mervyn Meisner), Laconia; Myrna (Mrs. Percy Bruhm), Paulette (Mrs. Terry Conrad, and Carolyn (Mrs. Robert Wentzell), all of West Northfield; Faye (Mrs. Joseph Frank), Bridgewater; three sons, Earlen, Toronto; Garnet and Don, both of Baker Settlement; four brothers, Leo, British Columbia; Arnold, Newcombville; Albert, Baker Settlement; and Aaron, First South; five sisters, Bernice (Mrs. Harry Fraser), Dayspring; Linda (Mrs. Harry Domino), Bridgewater; Ellen (Mrs. Russell Stewart), Hebbs Cross; Georgina, Bridgewater; Marion (Mrs. Max Uhlman), New Elm; 24 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Keith; two brothers, Kenneth and Wallace.
The body rested at Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, with funeral service held at the Bridgewater United Church, December 4, 1984, Rev. Alexander MacLean officiating. Burial followed at Baker Settlement Cemetery.
Solomon Oickle
The death occurred at his home in Dalhousie Saturday morning, Feb. 13th, of Solomon Oikle, in his 80th year. Mr. Oikle has been in poor health for a number of years but had only been confined to his bed for two days and his death came as a shock to his family and friends. Mr. Oickle moved from Maitland, Lun. Co., more than forty years ago. His wife, who before her marriage was Louise Silver, predeceased him several years ago. He is survived by two sons and two daughters; Willis, Annapolis; Fred, on the homestead; (Eva) Mrs. Chas. Whidden, Coldstream, Guys. Co.; Lois, Mrs. Lloyd Lutz, Aylesford. Burial took place at St. Cyprian's cemetery, service conducted by Rev. Stanley Hart.

ACKER, Denis Aubrey - 79, Bridgewater, formerly of Caledonia, Queens Co., died October 12, 1997, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Hunters Lodge, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late James Frederick and Ida Agnes (Goucher) Acker. He worked for a number of years with Nova Scotia Power, followed by a number of years in the lumbering industry with Willis Forest Lumber Co. He later worked for Kejimkujik National Park for 10 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Caledonia United Church. He had an avid interest in hunting and carpentry. Surviving are stepdaughters, Elizabeth (Mrs. Michael Gregorash), Sandra Frank, Bridgewater; Geraldine Whynacht, Hebbs Cross; stepsons, Russell, Halifax; Wayne, Middlefield; Rickey, Pleasantfield; sisters, Florence (Effie) (Mrs. Robert Ball), Bridgewater; Margaret Hoar, Doaktown, N.B.; brothers, Wilfred Mervyn, Ellot, Caledonia; eight step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Marion Elizabeth MacNutt; sister, Olive. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. MURPHY, Allison Leroy "Murph" — 81, Dartmouth. Devoted husband and father passed peacefully June 17, 2009, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Aylesford, he was a son of the late Charles and Emma (Steadman) Murphy. Murph was employed with Piercey Supply Ltd. where he retired in October 1992. Murph is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret (Csunyoscka); daughters, Kathy, Kim, Susan and Karen, all of Dartmouth; son, Blair (Shirley), Lake Echo; and his only grandson, Michael. He is also survived by his sister, Elsie Wagstaff, Aylesford; sister-in-law, Florence Murphy, Berwick; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy McKay, Gladys Hiscoe, Edna Whynott, Mary Hiltz, Audrey Murphy; brothers, Clayton, Reginald, Harold, James and Charles. Cremation has taken place. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Lucille Evelyn Clark; daughter, Marjorie (Mrs. Alan Lutz), Aylesford; son, Murray and his wife Marilyn Berwick; sisters, Irene (Mrs. Blaise MacPherson), New Brunswick; Joyce (Mrs. Charlie Rawding), Ontario; Louise (Mrs. Sam Dalton), Brampton, Ont.; brother, Arthur, Garland, Kings Co.; granddaughter, Sarah.
