WHYNOT, Helen Elfreda "Freda" - 77, Danesville, passed away May 11, 2005, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in West Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Angus and Elma (Woodworth) Bruhm. Freda was a housewife all her life. She loved her family, knitting and bingo. She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Whynot (Derrick Smicer), Halifax; Linda (Wade) Hatt, Danesville; Sheila (Roger) Lohnes, Rhodes Corner; Patsy Johnson (John Moreau), Bridgewater; Marilyn Johnson, Danesville; sons, Rayburne (Janie), Middlewood; Raymond (Kim), Danesville; Ronald (Kathy), Italy Cross; 23 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and one stepgrandson; sisters, Ola Whynot, Grace Zwicker, Shirley Tanner, and Pearl Trethewey; brothers, Percy and Randolph. She was predeceased by her husband, Malcolm; grandson, Benjamin; sisters, Phyllis, Hilda, Vivian, and Betty; brothers, Gerald and Warren. Visitation will take place 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, in Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool. Funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, in Middlewood United Church, Middlewood, Rev. Karen Ohrt officiating. Burial will follow in Middlewood United Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or Danesville United Church.

DANIELS, Evelyn Elizabeth - 78, North River, Lunenburg County, died August 18, 1992, at home. Born in North River, she was a daughter of the late Harland and Lalia Acker. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River. She is survived by four daughters, Mildred (Mrs. Reginald Daniels), North River; Thelma (Mrs. Ralph McGowan), Kentville; Mary Leggette, Meisners Section, Lunenburg County; Myrna Robar, Bridgewater; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Alfred Robar; second husband, Archibald Lee; two sisters, Elda, Dorothy; four brothers, Aseph, Earl, Lloyd, Clyde. The body is in Langilles Funeral Home, New Germany, Lunenburg County. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rev. Robert Robb officiating. Burial will be in church cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Jodrey, Ethel May - 93 Lockhartville, Kings County, formerly of New Ross, died Thursday at home. Born in New Ross, Lunenburg County, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ella (Veinot) Reeves. She is survived by four brothers, Charlie, Robert (Bob) Ray, Austin, all of New Ross; a sister Daisy (Mrs. Gordon Morash), Windsor, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Freeman Keddy; second husband, Harry Baker; third husband Percy Joudrey; two sons, Freeman and on in infancy; two daughters, Sadie Gladys; four brothers, Jarold Roland, Ira and infant brother John Enos; a sister Florence. The body is in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, New Ross, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Sunday. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in St. Augustine Anglican Church, Forties, Rev. Gordon Neish officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Nova Scotia.

FANCY, Jessie Levine - 79, New Germany, died February 24, 1998, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Union Square, she was a daughter of the late Bennett and Alice (Ernst) Veinotte. She married Willis A. Fancy and together they had a long and loving life at their home in Union Square. She became a resident of Rosedale Home for Special Care in New Germany in 1991. Willis joined her there until his death in 1992. She was a wonderful wife, sister, aunt, neighbour and friend to all. She always had a gentle and caring way about her. Surviving are sister, Florence Veinotte, Halifax; brothers, Maurice, Bridgewater; Lawrence, Cookville; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Willis Albert Fancy; brothers, Stuart, Clinton, Murry, Carol, Gerald. Funeral 10 a.m. today in Epworth United Church, New Germany, Rev. Wayne Mitton officiating. Cremation under the direction of South Shore Crematorium, Bridgewater. Burial in Union Square Cemetery. Donations to Union Square Cemetery, Rosedale Home for Special Care or Epworth United Church.

Elnora Crouse 1948 Bridgewater Bulletin
Hamilton, Ontario - The death of Elnora (Veinot) Crouse, wife of Solomon Crouse, occurred on June 3, 1948, at her late residence, 134 Markland Street. She was born at Hemford, Nova Scotia, daughter of the late Mr.and Mrs. David Veinot and was 67 years of age. She was predeceased by three children, Bernice, Elsie, and Keith. Surviving are her husband; three sons, Leonard of New York; Melburne of Pleasant River, Nova Scotia; and Carrol of Matachewan, Ontario; and five daughters, Mildred, Zelmah and Muriel, at home; Mrs. Charles Richarz and Mrs. George Adie, both of Hamilton. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Jas. Crouse and three brothers, Angus, Fred, and Ingram of Nova Scotia; and one brother, Naaman of Hamilton; and six grandchildren. The funeral was June 5, from Dodeworth & Brown's Funeral Home, to St.Paul's Lutheran Church. Interment at Woodland Cemetery. Service by her pastor, Rev. Muiller. Pallbearers were Sid Isaacson, Leo Digby, Doug. Barnes, Ivoe Brown, Lionell Moore, and Basil Bartlett.

LANGILLE (Zinck), Jeanette Eileen - 71, Lunenburg, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009. Born on February 26, 1938, in Feltzen South, she was a daughter of the late Loraine and Marjorie (Creaser) Zinck. Jeanette is survived by her daughters, Peggy, Yorktown, Va.; Valerie Joudrey, Lower Sackville and Jody Hiltz, Lunenburg; her beloved grandsons, Cody and Eric Rodenhiser, Catlin Joudrey and Dylan Hiltz. She is also survived by sisters, Madelyn Wentzell, Feltzen South; Janice Pelley, Halifax; brothers, Alexander Zinck, Lunenburg; Dale Zinck, First South, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Earl. At her request, Jeanette has donated her body to Dalhousie Medical Science. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy No. 3, Lunenburg, where a service to celebrate Jeanette's life will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., Rev. Vivian Roberts officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

VEINOT, David Howard - 82, Bradford, Ont., passed away in Southlake Regional Health Centre, Newmarket, Ont., on Thursday, May 17, 2007. Born in The Forties, New Ross, he was a son of the late Vera (Hiltz) and Howard Veinot. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sue (Pulsifer); daughters, Annamarie and Cheryl; sons, David and Randy; sister, Reta (Courtney) Reeves, New Ross, and sister-in-law, Rhoda Veinot, New Ross. His brother, Roy, predeceased Dave. Funeral service was held in Lathangue Chapel on Tuesday, May 22.

TAYLOR, Robert Russell - 60, Barss Corner, died March 27, 1996, in Fishermen's Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born at Barss Corner, he was a son of the late Robert McLearn Taylor and Kathleen (Feindel) Taylor. He was an employee of the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission, New Germany. He was a member of Lunenburg County Christmas Tree Producers Association and Barss Corner United Baptist Church. Surviving are his stepmother, Myrtle (Carver) Taylor, Barss Corner; his wife, the former Hyacinth Veinot; daughters, Catherine (Mrs. Wade Foster), Dayspring; Karen (Mrs. Christopher MacCarthy), Rocky Harbour, Nfld.; Nancy, Bridgewater; sons, John, Farmington; David, Edmonton, Alta.; sister, Ruth (Mrs. Real Samson), Church Point; brother, Ralph, Bible Hill; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant sister, Carolyn Dawn. Cremation has taken place under the direction of New Germany Funeral Home. No visitation by request. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday in Barss Corner United Baptist Church, Rev. Frank Locke officiating. Burial in Barss Corner Community Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only. Donations to Taylor Memorial Stained Glass Window fund of Barss Corner United Baptist Church.

HINES, Otis Reuben - 92, Brooklyn, Hants Co., passed away June 20, 1998, in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born September 27, 1905, in Starrs Point, Kings Co., he was a son of the late Elias and Vilia (Smith) Hines. Otis loved life and at an early age traveled to Horizon, Sask., and became a homesteader for a number of years. He returned to Kings County where he worked as a mechanic, repairing orchard sprayers for George A. Chase Ltd. He fell in love with his wife, Leah Ester Keddy, after two years living in Kings Co., they moved to Hants Co. in 1940. He worked for R.A. Jodrey and in 1953 purchased his own farm in Brooklyn where he worked to provide a happy home for his three children. He retired from farming, but worked hard on the farm even into his 80s. He loved to talk about his many adventures during his years when he lived on the prairies and about his years growing up in a large family of 13 children. He loved to travel, enjoying many trips with his wife and friends. Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Leah Ester Keddy; daughters, Sandra Zwicker and husband Keith, Brooklyn; Marie Harvey and husband Gerald, Gypsum Mines; son, Richard and wife Miriam, River John; sister, Helen Kelly, Port Williams; grandchildren, Ricky Hines, Sherri Greenough, Cindy McLeod, Timmy Hines, Heather Hines-Clark, Gregory Hines, Holly Hines, C. Bruce Harvey, C. Jefferey Harvey, Stephanie Zwicker; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters, Lucy Merrett, Nellie Winslow, Margaret Sanford, Mabel Morrison, Jenny Brewster, Sue Ward, Gladys Skipper, and Lydia Hines in infancy; brothers, Henry, George and Arthur. Cremation has taken place. Family will receive visitors from 7-9 p.m. today, memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, both in Lindsays Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Rev. E.E. Hill officiating. Burial to follow in St. James Church Cemetery, Brooklyn. Donations may be made to Hants Community Hospital, Canadian Diabetes Association, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice. He will be sadly missed by his loving family.

VEINOT, Albert Charles Lawrence - 68, Baker Settlement, Lunenburg Co., Lunenburg Co., died December 28, 1998, at home. Born in Baker Settlement, he was a son of the late Jason and Eva (Ernst) Veinot. Surviving are daughter, Sharon Tanner, Sweetland; brother, Leo, Vancouver; sisters, Linda Dominoe, Auburndale; Bernice Fraser, Dayspring; Ellen Stewart, Hebbs Cross; Georgina Veinot, Bridgewater; Marion Uhlman, New Elm; a grandson; a granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Wallace, Kenneth, Arnold, Aaron; sister, Mary. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 1 p.m. Thursday, both in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial in Baker Settlement Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, The Lung Association or any charity.

WILE, Dawson James - 86, Wileville, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Friday, March 14, 2008, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Wileville, he was a son of the late Harley and Elsie (Fralic) Wile. A faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, he served on church council and various church committees throughout his lifetime. During his working years he was a prominent dairy and mixed farmer, as well as being one of the first Forest Rangers for Lunenburg County. He was actively involved in numerous groups and organizations within Lunenburg County and throughout the province, including a director of the Bridgewater Farmer's Co-Op Society; member of the Lunenburg West Liberal Association; member of the Lunenburg County Federation of Agriculture; a director for the Nova Scotia Breeding Unit, Truro, and a 4-H leader. Along with his interest in gardening, he loved and worked his forestry acres with his draft horse teams. His interests led him to be an exhibitor for many years at the South Shore Exhibition in Bridgewater. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Beryl (Veno); daughters, Judith Wile, Wileville; Mary Lowe (Steven), Lower Branch; son, Henry (Carol), Wileville; grandson, Haysley Lowe, Bridgewater; granddaughter, Sarah-Anne Lowe, Lower Branch; sisters, Doris Timberg, Winnipeg; Grace Sabourin, Scarborough; Miriam Dauphinee, Truro; brother, Bernard Wile, Wileville; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son in infancy. No visitation at the funeral home by request. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 18 at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bridgewater, Rev. Paul Jensen officiating. Private family burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bridgewater. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater.

MacDONALD, Leora Matilda - 70, White's Lake, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 13, 2007. Born in Lower Northfield, Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Fannie (Johnson) Oickle. She grew up living her life in White's Lake with her love of 52 years, Everett, where they married and raised their children. She enjoyed life to the fullest and spending quality time with family and friends. Her enjoyments in life included gardening, fishing, horseshoes, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, knitting and sewing. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Ladies Dart League of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 153, White's Lake. She is survived by her loving husband, Everet her son, Brad (Geralynn), Brookside; daughter, Luanne (Mike), White's Lake; grandchildren, Michelle, Meghan, Michael, and Chastity. She is also survived by sisters, Irene (Gordon) Williams, Spryfield; Veronica (Jim) Edgar, Bayside; Mary (Wayne) Thomas, Sandy Cove; brothers, Floyd (Sheila) Oickle, Brookside; Jim (Bev) Oickle, Blockhouse; Tyrone (Susan) Oickle, White's Lake; Miles (Janice) Oickle, White's Lake; several nieces and nephews.

Beatrice Pauline Fancy, 84, of Wileville, Lunenburg County, died January 3, 2004 at home. Born in Baker Settlement, she was the daughter of the late Sylvanus and Letitia (Getson) Veno.
Surviving are her husband, Dana; daughters, Irene Fancy, Kitchener, Ontario; Isabel Fancy, Bridgewater; sons, William "Bill" Fancy (Gloria), Bridgewater; David Fancy, Halifax; brother, Norman Veinot (Vivian), Baker Settlement; sisters, Beryl Wile (Dawson), Norma Zinck, all of Wileville; grandchildren, Michele Mitchell, Conquerall Mills; Gail Kaiser, Yarmouth; Joanne Thibeau, Halifax; Scott Fancy, Mineveille; Michael Ross, Dartmouth; 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Carolyn Ross.
Beatrice was a member of All Saints' Lutheran Church, Newcombville, where she was involved in many church activities. She was a life member of the ELW.
The funeral was held January 6, 2004 at All Saints' Lutheran Church with Pastor Willis Ott officiating. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.
