MAILMAN, Eugene Hanley, 67, Wilmot, died March 6, 2002, at home. Born at Lake Pleasant, he was the son of the late Leon and Dorothy (Moore) Mailman.
Surviving are daughters, Judy Bruce, Kingston; Debbie Ruggles, Moncton, N.B.; sons, Jeff (Karen), Melvern Square; Duane (Lesley), Red Deer, Alberta; sisters, Barb Selig, Deep Brook; Joy (Homer) Peck, Greenlan brothers, Fred (Betty), Dartmouth; Shirley, Clementsvale; Hanley, Ontario; grandchildren, Tammy, Trevor, Matthew, Jennifer, Stephen. He was predeceased by son, Stephen. Visitation 2-4 p.m. Sunday in Warren T. Roop Funeral Home, Middleton. Donations to Middleton Fireflies.

Enos S. Crossland, Moschelle-Feb. 20, 1979, Enos Stanford Crossland, 57, of Moschelle, died Tuesday at home.Born in Walden, Lunenburg County, he was the son of the late Silas and Elnora (Dorey) Crossland.
He was a mechanic by trade and served overseas during the Second World War. Surviving are his wife, the former Violet Viola Selig, a daughter Velvet Rose, at home, a son Eric Stanley, at home, a brother Fred, Walden, four sisters, Annas (Mrs. Allen Tanner), Blue Rocks; Elva (Mrs. Murray Ernst), North West; Rosaline (Mrs. Carl Whynott), Danesville; Grace (Mrs. Moyle Young), Oakland.
The body is at Robert L Hall Funeral Home, Bridgetown. Funeral will be Thursday at 1:45 pm in the St. John's Anglican Church, Moschelle. Rev. Karl Tufts officiating.
Burial will be in Round Hill Cemetery, Annapolis County.

EMINO, Sadie Mae - 90, Simpsons Corner, Lunenburg Co., died February 27, 1995, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in New Germany, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Amanda (Joudrey) Joudrey. She was a member of the United Church; Royal Canadian Legion auxiliary, branch 102, New Germany; charter member of Simpsons Corner Community Club; past member of Willow Rebekah Lodge 107, Hemford and organist for the Union Church, Simpsons Corner for 45 years. Surviving are daughters, Pauline (Mrs. Buster Woodworth) Wolfville; Dorothy (Mrs. Fred DeLong), Barss Corner; son, Hallet, Simpsons Corner; sisters, Annie Mader, New Germany; Glennis Simpson, Hebbville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Henry; son, Aubrey; foster son, Charles Sapp; sisters, Leavie, Alemeth, Elsie, Jean, Myrtle; half-sisters, Maggie Robar, Gladys Oxner; brothers, Joseph, Charles, Robert; two grandchildren, Allan, Charlotte. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in New Germany Funeral Home, 4895 Rte 10, New Germany, where a legion auxiliary service will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral 11 a.m. Thursday in Union Church, Simpsons Corner, Rev. Wayne Mitten officiating, assisted by Rev. Grant Walls and Rev. Peter Armstrong. Burial in Hillside Cemetery, Simpsons Corner. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or any charity.

Hallet Lee Emino, 77, of Simpson's Corner, Lunenburg County, passed away January 17, 2001, at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Stanley Section, he was the son of the late Robert and Sadie (Joudrey) Emino. He was a member of the United Church; past member of the Lions' Club; Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #102, New Germany; a member of the South Shore Bluegrass Association and a member of International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 721. He was employed with Municipal Spraying and Contracting and Ocean Contracting as a heavy equipment operator and Asphalt Plant Foreman, retiring in 1989.
He is survived by his wife, the former Sylvia (Beck); four great sons, Robert (Jean), Kenneth (Cheryl), Bridgewater; Richard (Paulette), Centre; and Jeffrey (Bonita), Auburndale; step-son Elmer (Beverley) Garber, Dayspring; sisters Dorothy (Fred) DeLong, Barss Corner and Pauline (Buster) Woodworth, New Minas.
Hallet's "pride and joy" were his five grandchildren, Corey (Keri Ann), Darren (Heather), Kerry, Benjamin and Bailey, and his two great-grandchildren, Mikalea and Simon. He also has two step-grandchildren Jeffrey and Jason. He will be sadly missed by his dog, Blackie. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Charlotte; brothers Aubrey and Charlie.
The body was cremated under the direction of R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville. A graveside service was held Saturday, January 20, 2001 in the Hillside Cemetery, Simpson's Corner, with Mr. Don McFadden officiating. A reception for the family was held at the home of Hallet's sister, Dorothy and Fred DeLong.
Floral tributes were a wreath from the family, and two yellow roses from great-grandchildren Mikalea and Simon.
Donations were made to the Canadian Cancer Society; Medical Centre, New Germany; Epworth United Church, U.C.W., New Germany; Union Church, Simpson's Corner; Hillside Cemetery; Simpson's Corner; Children's Wish Foundation; Health Services Foundation; South Shore Regional Hospital and the Wild Rose Park, Western Shore.

VEINOT, Gordon John - 72, East Dalhousie, died peacefully September 10, 2004, at home, surrounded by family. Born April 7, 1932, in First Peninsula, Lunenburg Co. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Elaine (Conn) Veinot; mother, Oren (Hiltz) Veinot; sister, Beatrice (Veinot) Lowe; sons, Rigby (Sherryl), Daron (Veronica); daughter, Elaine (Kenny); grandchildren, Nicholas (Nancy) and Chance; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Gordon Clyde Veinot. He was a heavy equipment operator and truck driver, and owner/operator of a local garage in East Dalhousie. In retirement, he enjoyed mechanical work, welding and carpentry. Cremation entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, New Germany. Private burial at a later date. Donations may be made to a charity of choice or the Canadian Cancer Society.

VEINOTTE, Robert Churchill - 81, Lake George, Kings County, died Tuesday, March 31, 1992, in Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick. Born in Dalhousie, Kings County, he was a son of the late Stephen and Jane (Joudrey) Veinotte. He worked as a woodsman and was employed as a cantor in Lutz's saw mill, Lake Paul. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ella Taylor; three sons, Robert, Jr., Oakville, Ont.; Curry, Faro, Yukon; Ainslie, Berwick; six daughters, Yvonne (Mrs. Delbert Conrad), Berwick; Phyllis (Mrs. Allen Amero), Somerset; Evangeline (Mrs. Raymond Wiles), Coldbrook; Sheilah (Mrs. Hanson Wiles), Wabush, Lab.; Darlene (Mrs. Darrell Martin), Carrie Dewar, both of Waterville; a brother, Emmerson, Factorydale; 13 grandchildren; two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Veronica; three brothers, Sylvester, Noble, Ellery. The body was in H. C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick, where funeral was held Thursday, Rev. Lionel Moriah and Rev. Fred Hinxman officiating. Burial in Morristown Cemetery. Donations may be made to Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick.

SIMPSON, Ellard Ray - 99, New Germany, Lunenburg County, died October 2, 1994, in Rosedale Home for Special Care, New Germany. Born at Simpson's Corner, he was a son of the late Gideon and Ada (Veinot) Simpson. He worked as a farmer and as a woodsman for Bowater-Mersey for most of his life. He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Edna Mailman. Funeral will be 2 p.m. today in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Simpson's Corner. Donations may be made to Rosedale Home for Special Care.

Mrs. Harold Acker - Springfield - Mrs. Harold Acker, 84, died Saturday at Dawson Memorial Hospital. Born in Hemford, she was the former Jane Helen Veinot, and a daughter of the late Epheriam and Mary Veinot. Surviving are one daughter Helen (Mrs. Harmon Keddy), New Ross; a son Curtis, Springfield; five sisters, Mrs. Floy Mace, New Hampshire; Mrs. Gladys Shears, Mrs. Ethel Shears, both of Newfoundland; Mrs. Leola Smith, North Brookfield; Mrs. Violet Crouse, New Germany; three brothers, Vernon, New Brunswick; Carman, Hemford; Gordon, Ninevah. She was predeceased by her husband, four sons, two sisters and a brother. The body is at Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany. Funeral service will be 2 pm Monday at Springfield Baptist Church, Hayward Baker officiating. Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery.

Gordon K. Veinot - Ninevah - Gordon Keith Veinot, 75, of Ninevah, Lunenburg County, died Monday in the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Ninevah, he was a son of the late Ephram and Mary (Smith) Veinot. Besides his wife, the former Helen Stockman; he is survived by two daughters, Vivian (Mrs. Stanley Colp), Bridgewater; and Julia (Mrs. Cecil Scott), Shelburne; five sisters, Mrs. Floy Mace, Florida; Mrs. Gladys Shears and Mrs. Ethel Shears, both in Newfoundland; Mrs. Violet Crouse, New Germany; and Mrs. Lola Smith, North Brookfield; two brothers, Vernon, Saint John, NB; and Carmen, Hemford; and several grandchildren. The body is at the Langille Funeral Home, New Germany, where funeral service will be held Thursday at 2 pm, Rev. Sandy MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Hemford cemetery.

VEINOT, Leo Claude - 86, Pleasant River, Queens Co., died August 12, 1998, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Hemford, Lunenburg Co., he was a son of the late Shirdy and Lillian (Nowe) Veinot. Surviving are stepdaughter, Beatrice Tanner, Pleasant River; stepson, John Skinner, United States; brothers, Royden, Hemford; Curtis, Bridgewater; sisters, Irene (Mrs. Willis Miller), Three Mile Plains; Verlie Johnson, Berwick; Kathleen (Mrs. Basil Smith), North Brookfield; Carrol (Mrs. Bernard Wile), Hemford; numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Beatrice Mosher; brothers, Russell, Donald; sisters, Nina, Beulah. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Friday, both in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Rev. Willis Ott officiating. Burial in Rosette Cemetery, North Brookfield. Family flowers only. Donations to Rosette Cemetery or any charity.

Constance (Connie) Helena Wile
The death of Constance (Connie) Helena Wile of Hemford occurred on October 22, 2004 at Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, where she had been a patient for several months.
She was born on March 10, 1925, in the house where she resided all her life. She was the daughter of the late Edward Wallace and Anna Blanche (Ramey) Mailman.
Surviving are daughter Janet Wile (Grant Reeves), New Ross; brother Keith (Frances) Mailman, Hemford; sisters and brothers-in-law; (Midge) Mildred and Melvin Silver, Norman Smith, Iris Wagner, Grace Wile, and Joyce Wile; nephews: E. Wallace (Marie; Natalie and Jonathan) Mailman, Gary K. (Wendy) Mailman, Brian (Gary B. and Shelley) Mailman, Peter (Nancy Zinck; Lisa, David and Elizabeth) Cox, Bruce (Dale; Ian and Robyn) Cox, Michael (Candace) Ahearn, Paul Ahearn, (Mac) Malcolm (Donna; Michelle, Mark and Deborah) Wile, Lynn (Marion; Jamie and Jennifer) Wile; Dana (Ausra; Amy and Shelley) Wile, Brett (Christine; Ellis) Wile, (Randy) Randolph (Karen) Smith, (Bernie) Bernard (Kimberley; Melissa, Angela, Andrew and Jonathan) Smith, Sheldon (Rosemary; Chad) Wile, and Garnet Wagner; nieces: (Judy) Judith Ann Avery, Carol (Reid Kennedy; Darren, Francine and Ryan) Smith, (Donnie) Donnette (Steve; Mike and Karen) Birke; great-great nieces: Talesse (the apple of her eye) Rawding and Mattaya Wile; great-great nephews: Tyler, Kyle, and Brady Painting and Liam Wile; step-grandchildren: Kirby (Samuel) Reeves and Shannon (Sandy; Lucas, Zachary and Madison) Reeves.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Ellis in 1993, infant son Robert, and handicapped son Alan, who she and Ellis cared for until he passed away in 1988 at the age of 33. She was also predeceased by her sisters: Gertrude and Aileen Mailman, Lorna Morrison, (Betty) Elizabeth Cox, and D. Fern Ahearn.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of R.A. Corkum Funeral Home. The funeral was held at Emmanuel United Church, Hemford, on October 26, with Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. Hymns sung were: "What a Friend, " "The Old Rugged Cross" and "We Have An Anchor." Burial followed in Hemford Cemetery.
Connie worked for a number of years in the family-owned Mailman's Store in Hemford, helping first her father, and then her brother. She prepared the voters' list and was a census taker on a number of occasions. She taught piano lessons for a number of years. She was Secretary/ Treasurer of Hemford Cemetery and Organist for Hemford United Church for nearly 50 years.
She loved animals, especially cats and Dalmatian dogs. She is missed by her much-loved and spoiled, calico cat, Trouble. She enjoyed letter writing to family and to friends, and to many pen pals, who lived in the U.S., Canada, England and Australia. They became her friends, despite the fact that she only ever met one of them.
She recorded all sorts of information, in particular births, deaths and marriages. She collected newspaper clippings and filled many scrapbooks with them. She was often contacted by people looking for such information and was always happy to share it. She also loved reading, especially the daily paper and looked forward to the Friday paper so she could do the Lexicon puzzle.
She enjoyed being at home and having people visit, especially to play cards. She particularly enjoyed her annual Christmas Eve get-together, which began in 1947 and was extremely proud of great-nephew Gary, who began attending the Christmas Eve before he was born and never missed a year.

SILVER (Wile), Mildred Olga "Midgie" - 83, Hemford, Lunenburg Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning October 2, 2007, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with her friend Rosemary by her side. She was born August 13, 1924, in Hemford and was a daughter of the late Lawson and Idella (Eisnor) Wile (Hemford). Except for five years in Toronto with the T. Eaton Company, her life was spent in Hemford. Midgie enjoyed cribbage games and bingo. She also enjoyed visits with her long-time friend Lilly Russell, Sunday drives and meals spent with Melvin, Iris and Margie. Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Melvin, Hemford; sister, Iris Wagner, Hemford; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Claude, Ellis (Connie), Vernon (Grace) (all of Hemford); Oscar (Joyce) (Ontario); sisters, Lillian (Mervyn) (Ontario); Verna (Norman) (Hemford). Cremation has taken place under the direction of R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today. Memorial service 2 p.m. Friday in Emmanuel United Church, Hemford, Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. Private interment will be in Hemford Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel United Church, Hemford; Hemford Cemetery, or S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal Shelter.
