Sophia Elizabeth Zinck
4 Dec 1830 - 3 Jan 1907
Mrs. George Zinck (nee Sophia Elizabeth Harnish) of Hemford, Nova Scotia, was born December 4, 183_ and died January 3, 1907, aged 76 years and _ days. Baptized January 26, 1831 and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran Church October 11, 1846, she was for 60 years a faithful communicant member of the same, and adorned her profession of faith by a godly, consistent, christian life. She leaves behind 7 children, 30 grand-children and 32 great-grand-children to mourn their loss. Her remains were interred in the cemetery at Hemford by her pastor, the Rev. C.H. Little, January 5, 1907, to await the resurrection of the just on the last day.

EINOT, Emily Grace - 92, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2000, in Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay. Born in New Germany, she was a daughter of the late Aseph Bruce and Ella Nora (Sperry) Feindel. After completing grade XII, she taught school in Farmington, in 1924 under a permissive license, then went on to study at Maritime Business College in Halifax, from which she graduated in 1926. Emily, together with her late husband, Stanley Lionel Veinot, owned and operated a retail business in New Germany for many years. In addition to her craftsmanship in needlework she was well-known for her love of playing cards and was always available for a game. She was an adherent of the United Church and a past member of Rosedale Senior Citizens Club. She is survived by her son, John, Halifax; daughters, Elisabeth (Ian) MacPherson, Victoria, B.C. and Dianne (Larry) Bower, Shelburne; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Ruth and Glennis; and daughter-in-law, Betsy. At Emily's request, there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held in Epworth United Church, New Germany on Wednesday, February 9, at 11 a.m., Rev. Don McFadden officiating. Burial in Indian Brook Cemetery. No flowers by request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice or by a kind word or deed to someone in need. Arrangements under the direction of Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany.

VEINOT, Nina Thelma - 81, Nineveh, Lunenburg Co., died July 6, 1995, in Victoria General Hospital, Halifax. Born in Hemford, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Shirdy and Lillian (Nowe) Veinot. Surviving are sons, Victor, Caro- line, Alta.; Vance, Halifax; Wayne, Bridgewater; daughters, Yvonne (Mrs. Rudolph Michalsky), Caroline, Alta.; Madeline Mailman, Colpton, Lunenburg Co.; Sylvia (Mrs. Elsma Veinot), Hemford; brothers, Leo, Pleasant River; Curtis, Bridgewater; Royden, Hemford; sisters, Irene Boyd, Three Mile Plains; Verlie Johnson, Berwick; Kathleen (Mrs. Basil Smith), North Brookfield; Carol (Mrs. Bernard Wile), Hemford; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by brothers, Russell, Donald; sister, Beulah; greatgrandchildren, Donald, Tony. Visitation 2-4, 7-8:30 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Sunday, both in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, Ken Taylor officiating. Burial in Hemford Cemetery. Immediate family flowers only. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society.

DOWELL, Eldon J. - 82, Liverpool, Queens County, died March 8, 1994, in Queens General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Torbrook, he was a son of the late Forrest and Edna (Teal) Dowell. He was a veteran of the Second World War. Following the war, he worked for various construction companies as a stone crusher operator. He is survived by his daughter, Pauline Fisher, Liverpool; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Ola Veinot; son, Forrest C.; brother, Vincent; a grandson, Stephen. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Gordon Murray officiating. Burial will be in Middlefield/Pleasantfield Community Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to any charity.

Earl Fenwick Crouse - 86, of Cookville, Lunenburg County, passed away February 1, 2007, in Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg. The family would like to thank the staff at the home for the wonderful care shown to Earl while residing there. Born in West Northfield, he was a son of the late Everett and Mabel (Lowe) Crouse. He was a blacksmith in Cookville for over 50 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Marjorie Bruhm; son Caroll (Peggy); daughter-in-law Shirley; sister Naomi McLean; brother Aubrey; grandchildren Jonathan, Jeanette (Ian) Pettipas, Cathy (Reid) Lohnes and Kenneth; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son James, brother Harold, sisters Vera, Marion and Audrey. Earl was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church and served on church council for several years. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Special thanks for memorials, cards, telephone calls and food given to the home. Also, Sweenys Funeral Home, Pastor Gustafson, organist, choir, pallbearers and anyone who helped in any way will always be remembered and appreciated. Marjorie Crouse and families.

VEINOT, Russell William - 76, Chelsea, Lunenburg County, died August 14, 1992, at home. Born in Hemford, Lunenburg County, he was a son of the late Shardy and Lillian (Nowe) Veinot. He is survived by his companion, Nellie Heim; son, William, Baker Settlement, Lunenburg County; two daughters, Mona Smith, Glenda (Mrs. Wilfred Rhodenizer), both of New Elm, Lunenburg County; three brothers, Leo, Pleasant River, Queens County; Curtis, Bridgewater; Royden, Hemford; five sisters, Nina Veinot, Carol (Mrs. Bernard Wile), both of Hemford; Irene Boyd, Windsor; Verlie Johnson, Berwick; Kathlene (Mrs. Basil Smith), North Brookfield, Queens County; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Irene Fancy; brother, Donald; sister, Beulah. The body is in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where funeral will be 1:30 p.m. today, Rev. Robert Allaby officiating. Burial will be in New Elm Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to any charity.

Ansel Randolph Sproule, 62 of Bridgetown dies in his home Monday
27 May 1908 - Sep 1970
Born in Springfield, Annapolis County he was the son of Mrs. Elizabeth Sproule and the late Edward Sproule.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife Alice, one son John of Bridgetown; two daughters, Meredith (Mrs. Kenneth Hebb) Granville Centre, Linda at home; one step daughter, Joyce (Mrs. Donald Smith) Bridgetown, two brothers Walter, Aylesford; Clarence of Springfield, two sisters Belle (Mrs. Stanley Charlton, Springfield and Amy (Mrs. James Saunders), Dartmouth and five grandchildren.
One son Earl, and one brother Murray are dead.
The body is at the Bridgetown Funeral Home where a private service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. followed by funeral service at 3.30 p.m. in Springfield Baptist Church, with Dr. George P.Allen officiating..Burial will be in Springfield cemetery.

ZWICKER, Faye Carolyn - 58, Head of St. Margaret's Bay, passed away in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax, on Thursday, March 9, 2006, after a three year battle with cancer. She was the former Faye Carolyn Veinot, daughter of Percy Raymond and Barbara Kathleen (Darr) Veinot, West Northfield. Besides her parents, she is survived by her husband of 35 years, David Paul; children, Gregory David and Lesley Anne, both at home; brothers, Garth (Janice), Richard, both of West Northfield; Gary (Dora), Wentzell Lake; several nieces. Faye was an avid gardener and treasured her time amongst her flowers. She enjoyed cross-stitch, watercolor painting, cooking and baking. She was a member of St. Luke's United Church as well as the St. Margaret's Bay chapter of the Canadian Association for Community Living. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Daniel Rayson, Barb Grant, RN and the palliative care team at QEII Health Sciences Centre for their exceptional care and support through this difficult journey. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. Luke's United Church, Tantallon, Rev. Carolyn Palmer officiating, Rev. Joan Conrad assisting. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service and a reception will follow the funeral. Interment will take place at 2 p.m. in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Cancer Centre or a charity of your choice.

SARTY, Paul Andrew - 83, North River, Lunenburg Co., passed away on Monday, August 22, 2005, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in North River, he was a son of the late Edwin and Annabelle (Robar) Sarty. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River and was certainly a friend to all. Surviving are his wife, the former Frances Audrey Daniels; daughters, Louise (Michael) Gabriel, Sandra (Roland) Robar, all of North River; Dianne (Franklyn) Veinot, Simpsons Corner; Wanda (Mark) Logan, Upper Northfield; grandchildren, Derek, Andrew, David, Stacy, Jenna, Daniel, Donna, Paul, Jillian, Kyle; sister, Vivian (Robert) Frank, Brickton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Elsie Robar, Gladys Acker, Alice Crouse, Lillian Acker, Blanche Meisner, Sadie Crouse, Mary Robar, Elva Sarty, Minnie Robar, Florence in infancy; brothers, Doran, Mark, Fred, David. Visitation today 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church, North River, Rev. Larry Ehrhardt officiating. Private family burial to follow in the church cemetery. Family flowers only, donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Mildred Mae Zinck
West Northfield, Lunenburg County - Mildred Mae Zinck, 80, of West Northfield, died Tuesday in the Dawson Memorial Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Upper Northfield, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Zilpha (Ramey) Ramey. She is survived by three daughters, Glenice (Mrs. Owen Dauphinee), West Northfield; Lillian (Mrs. Ewin Roney), Lower Granville; Audrey (Mrs. Ray Reeves), New Ross; three sons, Claude and Harold both of West Northfield; Donald, Belgium; one sister Alice, Bridgewater; four brothers, William, Owen, Warren and Laurie all of Barss Corner. She was predeceased by her husband William; three brothers, Harry, Gordon and Horace and a sister, Sadie. The body is in Sweeney's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Rev. William Gustafson officiating with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dawson Memorial Hospital or to any charity.

ZINCK, Vera Winnifred - 90, Armview Estates, Halifax, formerly of West Northfield, died August 4, 1996, in Halifax. Born in West Northfield, she was a daughter of tha late William and Alice (Langille) Sarty. Surviving are daughter, Reta (Mrs. Ronald Wentzell); son, Laurie, both West Northfield; sister, Freda Sarty, South Berwick; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step-greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Angus; son, Ralph; brothers, Ernest, Donald, Moyle, Ira, one in infancy; sisters, Jean, Elsie. Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight in Sweeny's Funeral Chapel, Bridgewater. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday in New West Pine United Church, Pinehurst, Rev. Wayne Mitten officiating. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Family flowers only. Donations to New West Pine United Church, Maple Grove Cemetery Fund or any charity.

Levi Stanley Ramey passed away Sunday evening, February 9th, 1958 at his home in Barss Corners, after a lingering illness which he bore with patience and fortitude. Mr. Ramey was born in Upper Northfield 82 years ago, the son of Ephriam and Amelia (Silver) Ramey, and was the last surviving member of his family. He married Zilpha Ramey, of Farmington 59 years ago, and for many years resided in Northfield, moving with his family to Barss Corners 31 years ago, and since then has made many friends here who will be saddened to hear of his passing. Mr. Ramey was an employee of the Mersey Paper Company for many years as woods foreman until he was forced to retire 10 years ago on account of ill health. He is survived by his sorrowing wife; two daughters and six sons, Mildred (Mrs. William Zinck), of West Northfield; Alice, of Bridgewater; Gordon, of Boston, Mass., employed at Harvard University; William with the C.N.R.; Horace, of Farmington; Owen, Warren and Laurie, of Barss Corners. A son Harry and a daughter Sadie predeceased him many years ago, also seventeen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren survive. Mr. Ramey was a faithful member of the Upper Northfield Lutheran Church and the funeral service took place from there on Wednesday afternoon and was largely attended. Rev. Donald Himmelman preached a comforting sermon assisted by Rev. Paul Fischer. Pall bearers were Mr. Ramey's two grandsons, Claude and Harold Zinck, Leland Burns, Harold Burns, Wesley Burns and Lorimer Burns, all relatives of the deceased.

Mrs. Alice Mary Wile
There passed away at her home in Wileville, on April 5th, 1939 at 12:30 a.m., Mrs. Alice Mary Wile, beloved wife of the late Uriah Wile, who predeceased her twenty years ago at the age of 67 years and 11 months.She was the daughter of the late Israel and Sofie (Eisnor) Daniels of Cherryfield. Her death after an illness of only two weeks came as a great shock to all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn their loss, seven sons and one daughter, Lettie (Mrs. Isaac Woodworth) of Bridgewater; Edward and Clarence of Gloucester, Mass.; Maurice, Melburne and Harry, residing at Wileville; and Ernest, at home; Walter, whose whereabouts are not known; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grand-children; one brother, Austin Daniels of Cherryfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Acker of Cherryfield and Mrs. Sarah Wheaton of Leminster, Mass. One son, Lawson, was killed in action twenty years ago. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Bridgewater. Funeral service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. Whitteker, on Friday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. Hymns sung were "Asleep in Jesus" and "Jesus Saviour, Pilot Me." Interment was made in Brookside Cemetery. The pall bearers were Pearl Garber, Gideon Wile, Frank Rhodenizer, and Darius Wile.
