ARENBURG, Gerald Ray - 76, Springfield, Hastings Road. It is with deep regret we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, dad and brother on December 24, 2007, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, with family by his side. Born in Hastings, he was a son of the late Percy and Annie (Acker) Arenburg (Springfield). Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Doris Sproule, Springfield; daughter, Gloria (Delbert) Robar, Springfield; son, Raymond, at home; grandchildren, Tina (Kevin) Carver, Walden; Tanya (Shawn) Henderson, Italy Cross; Justin Arenburg, New Germany; Brandon Wentzell, Bridgewater; great-grandchildren, Robert and Shawna Henderson; brother, Maurice Arenburg, Springfield. He was predeceased by son, Dale. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny's Funeral Home, New Germany. No visitation, funeral service or flowers by request. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to Springfield Baptist Church or Cemetery Fund.
Ira Emerson Snyder
Ira Emerson Snyder, 71, Simpson's Corner, died Tuesday, April 1, at the N.S. Sanatorium. He was the son of the late Archibald and Jennie (Feindel) Snyder. He was a retired cook and a member of Hillcrest Masonic Lodge.
Surviving besides his wife, the former Mabel Naas, are four daughters, Irene (Mrs. Garfield Emino), Simpson's Corner; Mrs. Marion Swarion, Toronto; Maxine (Mrs. Leo Nowe), Parkdale; Shirley (Mrs. Ellison Leary), Simpson's Corner; four sons, Roland Snyder, Upper Northfield; Bryden, Bridgewater; Allan, Scarborough, Ontario; Russell, Rexdale, Ontario; a step-daughter, Bernice (Mrs. Martin Hubley), Simpson's Corner; two step-sons, Gary Naas, Hemford; and Brian Naas, Toronto; four sisters, Mrs. Oran Woodworth, Hemford; Mrs. Irene Hatfield, New Brunswick; Mrs.Dorothy Woodworth, Bear River; Mrs. Raymond Arenburg, Cambridge; four brothers, Milton, Hemford; Carroll, Barss Corner; Oran, New Germany; and Doran, Simpson's Corner; twenty-two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Verna Hyson, and two daughters and a son; also two sisters, Phyllis and Doris and brothers, Obediah and Richard.
The body was at the Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, with funeral services held at Union Church, Simpson's Corner on Friday at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. J. Tattrie. Burial was in Simpson's Corner Cemetery. Members of Hillcrest Lodge No. 93 held their service on Thursday evening at the fuenral home for their late brother. Pall bearers were brothers, Norman Smith, H. Nelson, Ira Langille, and Robert Taylor.

Carrol Eugene Snyder
Barss Corner - Carrol Eugene Snyder, 74, died March 24, 1984, in Victoria General Hospital. Born in Hemford, he was a son of the late Archibald and Jennie (Feindel) Snyder.
Surviving besides his wife, the former Ella Marie Webber, are six daughters, Lucille (Mrs. Cedric Wentzell), Bridgewater; Linda (Mrs. Basil Langille), Clearland; Leverne (Mrs. Gordon Maughan), Lower Branch; Lillian (Mrs. Jerry Wentzell), Barss Corner; Leonore (Mrs. Robin Hirtle), Lapland; Lisa, Dartmouth; and a son, Lawrence, at home. Also surviving are three sisters, Elreta Woodworth, New Germany; Irene Hatfield, St.Martin's, New Brunswick; Grace Arenburg, Kingston, Nova Scotia; three brothers, Milton, Hemford; Doran, Simpson's Corner; and Oran, New Germany; 12 grandchildren. He was predeceased by three sisters, Doris, Dorothy, and Phyllis; three brothers, Ira, Obie, and Richard, and a grandson.
The funeral was held at United Baptist Church, Barss Corner, on Wednesday, March 28, 1984, with Rev. Malcolm Beckett and Pastor Richard Weaver officiating.
Burial was in Barss Corner Community Cemetery and pallbearers were Hiram Carver, Don Grace, Jacob Penney, Roger Varner, Otis DeLong, and Lester Veinotte. Honorary bearer was Earl Wentzell.

Verna Grace Snyder
The community of Simpson's Corner was shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Verna Snyder and her baby daughter, Verna Grace.
Mrs. Snyder was taken sick on August 12, but despite medical attention and loving care, her life could not be saved. The baby daughter died two days after and was placed in the casket with her mother. the whole neighbourhood mourns in sympathy with the bereaved family.The deceased was the wife of Ira Snyder and was the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Hyson of Simpson's Corner. She was 39 years of age, and lived all her life in this community, where she will be rememberd for her loving devotion to husband and children. Left to mourn their loss are her husband; eight children, father and mother, and one sister, Mrs. Leona Zwicker. The children are Irene, Mrs.Garfield Emino, Simpson's Corner; Roland, Marion, Russell, Maxine, Bryden, Shirley Ann, Allen, living at home.Two other children died in infancy. A sister, Nancy, Mrs.Willis Acker, predeceased her about ten years ago.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wilfred Myra, Lutheran minister from New Germany, at the church in Simpson's Corner, who gave an inspiring and comforting message to a large gathering of relatives and friends.
The hymns sung were "The Old Rugged Cross, " "Shall We Gather at the River, " and "God Be With You Till we Meet Again." The pall-bearers were Cecil Tufts, Charlie Joudrie, Dennis Naas, Ellard Simpson, Gafield Conrad, and Robbie Emino.The deceased and baby daughter were laid to rest in Hillside Cemetery at Simpson's Corner.

Stanley Crossland- The death of Stanley Crossland of East Dalhousie occurred suddenly at his home on March 21 1950. Born at Walden, he was a son of the late Silas Crossland and Ellen Joudrey Crossland, and was 57 years of age. He leaves his wife, formerly Lorena Veinot of Dalhousie, five sons, Errol, Edwin, Arthur, Marcus and Ivan; three daughters, Guida, Mrs. Dewayne Veinot, Margaret and Charlotte, all of Dalhousie.
Also four sisters, Anna, Mrs. Alex Ernst; Alex, Mrs. Andrew Themo; Hazel, Mrs. Lee Atchinson; and Minnie, all in the United States; and two brothers, Simon and Spurgeon, Mahone Bay. There are four step sisters and three step brothers. Funeral services were held from the Anglican Church, East Dalhousie, on Friday afternoon, March 24, with burial in the Dalhousie cemetery.
James Oliver Robar
In the passing of James Oliver Robar at the Dawson Memorial Hospital on Thursday, February 1, 1940.
Dayspring mourns the death of one of its oldest residents. Born in Whynot Settlement on January 16, 1854, Mr.Robar had celebrated his eighty-sixth birthday anniversary. He was the son of David and Catherine Robar, who at the age of one hundred two is living with her son, Banford, at Dayspring. His wife, the former Regina Zinck, predeceased him four years ago. He is survived by one daughter, Bessie (Mrs. Stuart Weagle), living at Smith's Falls, Ontario, and four sons, Harold, Innes, Henderson, and Norman, of Medford, Massachusetts.
The funeral was conducted at Sweeny's Undertaking Parlors at Bridgewater, on Sunday at half past four in the afternoon by the Rev. E.B.N. Cochran, Priest in charge of St. Matthew's Church, Upper LaHave. Members of St. Matthew's choir sang "Abide With Me" and "How Sweet The Hour of Closing Day" during the service. Interment was at Dayspring Cemetery.
Mr. William Albert Zinck, 85, of West Northfield passed away Sunday, October 25, 1981 at the Mahone Nursing Home after a short illness. Born at Lower Northfield, September 11, 1896, he was the son of Henry and Phebe (Joudrey) Zinck. Mr. Zinck, a veteran of W.W.I, joined a Canadian Expeditionary Force in Bridgewater on November 8, 1917 and served overseas until his discharge on July 13, 1919. He is survived by his wife, the former Mildred Mae Ramey, three sons, Claude and Harold of West Northfield; Donald, stationed in Belgium with the Canadian Armed Forces; three daughters, Glenice (Mrs. Owen Dauphinee), Lillian (Mrs. Ewin Roney), Audrey (Mrs. Ray Reeves); seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren; three sisters, Flossie (Mrs. Pearlie Veinotte) of West Northfield, Beatrice (Mrs. Gordon Ramey) of West Northfield, Effie (Mrs. Harris Langille), of Blockhouse; two brothers, Fred of Lower Northfield and Percy of Blockhouse. "Father Bill" as he was affectionately called by his family was predeceased by one brother, Angus of West Northfield, and a granddaughter Kelly, daughter of Donald and Francis Zinck.
CHARLTON, Arabelle "Belle" - 98, Springfield, Annapolis Co., passed away Thursday, January 15, 2004, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where she had been residing. Born in Lake Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Conrad) Sproule. She was a faithful member of the Springfield United Baptist Church, Springfield, and New Horizons Seniors Club, New Germany; past member of the Ernest S. Mason W.M.S.; Springfield Fire Department Firettes, and a past member of the former Linden Rebekah Lodge. Surviving are her daughter, Isabel (Richard) Andrews, Waverley; son, Howard (Lois) Charlton, New Germany; daughter-in-law, Vivian Charlton, Lake Pleasant; sister, Amy Saunders, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Clifton (Pat) Charlton, Bruce (Gail) Charlton, Eric Charlton, Alan (Cathy) Andrews, Carson (Trisha) Andrews, Christina (Bryan) Johnson, Karen (Robin) Wentzell, Iris (Ray) Meisner; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley Charlton; son, Laurie; brothers, Walter, Ansel, Murray, Clarence, and three in infancy. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany. Funeral 11 a.m. Monday in Springfield United Baptist Church, Springfield, Pastor Robert Gates officiating and Rev. Curtis Basil Veinot 79 of Bridgewater passed away February 16, 2001 at his home in Bridgewater. Born in Hemford, Lunenburg Co., and was the son of the late Shirdy and Lillian (Nowe) Veinot. He was a veteran of WW2 serving as a paratrooper, he was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24, Bridgewater and the Bridgewater United Baptist Church. He is survived by sons Lorne and his wife Marilyn; Blaine and his wife Elizabeth, grandsons Craig and his wife Marsha and Brett, all of Bridgewater. Brother Royden of Hemford; Sisters Irene Miller of Three Mile Plains; Verlie Johnson of Berwick; Kathleen Smith (Basil) of North Brookfield; Carroll Wile (Bernard) of Hemford. He was predeceased by his wife Beulah (Fancy); brothers Russell, Donald and Leo; Sisters Nina and Beulah. Visitation will be held Sunday 7 to 9pm in Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 11am Monday in the Bridgewater United Baptist Church, Rev. Penny Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Family flowers only. VEINOT, Robert LeRoy - 73, Upper Northfield, Lunenburg Co., died May 22, 1996, at home. Born in Watford, he was a son of the late Percy Sr. and Mammie (Eisnor) Veinot. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion branch 102, New Germany and Upper Northfield United Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Honor Crowe; daughter, Linda, Toronto; sons, Robert Jr., Woodstock, Ont.; Wallace, Kentville; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Glenice Lohnes, Upper Northfield; Fern Zinck, West Northfield; Arlene (Mrs. Clarence Hyson), Pinehurst; Gloria Cunningham, New Germany; brothers, Percy Jr., Gerald, West Northfield; Elmer, Dale, Bowmanville, Ont.; Roy, Glencarin, Ont.; George, Ashmont, Alta.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Wallace. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, legion service 7 p.m. tonight, both in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Cremation to follow.
