MELDRUM, Paul Solomon — 89, of Halifax, passed away September 23, 2010, in Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII. Born in Aylesford on June 30, 1921, he was a son of the late Solomon Edgar and Alda (Wagner) Meldrum. Paul proudly served his country in the Second World War and he was a 45 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, Scotia Legion. He was predeceased by his wife, Maude Matilda (MacDonald) Meldrum; brothers, Ernest, Edgar, Ford, Owen, Harold, Gerald, and Steven; and sisters, Edna and Lillian. Visitation will held today from 7-9 p.m. in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial to follow in Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII, or Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
Dale Curtis Mailman 43, of Conquerall Bank, NS, passed away suddenly at home, September 2, 2007. Born in Middleton, Annapolis County NS on November 12 1963 he was the son of Shirley and Nola Mailman. His passions in life were truck driving, motorcycling and playing guitar with his friends. Dale is survived by his wife Susan (Bustin) Mailman, step daughter Crystal; brother Kevin (Jeanne); granddaughter Samara; nieces Jessica, Carolyn, Jennifer, Stephanie and Leah; nephews Jonathan and Joshua. He was predeceased by his sister Jane Lee and brother Timothy. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place in Springfield United Baptist Church 11am Thursday September 6, 2007 at 11:00am, Rev. Robert Gates Officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Family flowers only please.
SILVER, Viola Grace - 93, West Northfield, Lunenburg Co., passed away October 9, 2001, in the Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. Born in Meisner's Section, she was a daughter of the late Sanford and Ada (Feindell) Deal. She is survived by son, Laurie (Gloria), West North- field; granddaughters, Ethel Butler, Joyce Silver Lavinge, Janette Collicutt; grandson, David Silver; five great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sisters, Sadie Oickle, Nellie Robar, Evelyn Deal, all of Meisner's Section; Minnie Robar, Bridgewater. She was predeceased by her husband, George; brothers, Archie and Gordon. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in St. Andrew's Anglican Church, West Northfield, Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Evelyn Pearl Penney, 88, of Upper Northfield, passed away Monday, April 5, 2004, at South Shore Regional Hospital. Born in Upper Northfield, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Anna (Bruhm) Veinot.She was a member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and the Goodwill Sewing Circle, Lower Group.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Donna) Upper Northfield; grandsons, Troy, New Germany; Derek and Neil, Upper Northfield; four great-grandchildren; brother Ross (Jean) Stanburne. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford; sister Lorna, in infancy. Funeral service was held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2004, at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Upper Northfield, with Rev. William Gustafson officiating, assisted by Rev. Wayne Mitton, United Pastor, Liverpool. Interment in Upper Northfield Cemetery. Pallbearers were her three grandsons, Troy, Derek and Neil; Howard Gibson, Stephen Joudrey and Walter Joudrey. Flowers were casket spray - son Gary and Donna; spray - Troy and Sheryl, Derek, Neil and Heidi; arrangement - brother Ross and Jean; satin heart - great-grandchildren Jacob, Julia, Victoria and Lucas; vase - Peggy and Al Chase. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
Mrs. Matilda Ellen Veinotte
Following an illness of only three days, Matilda Ellen, wife of the late David Veinotte of Branch LaHave, passed to her eternal rest on Monday, June 5, at 6 a.m., at the advanced age of 86 years, 5 months, and 14 days. Even though she had attained this great age, she was ever active, always ready to do something for the good of others and to lend a helping hand in times of trouble and sickness and her death has brought a sadness that is hard to be forgotten by her loved ones. She was the daughter of the late David and Lucy Silver of West Northfield.
She leaves to mourn the loss of a devoted mother and friend, one son, Angus Crouse, residing at Lower Branch, from a former marriage to the late Jonas Crouse; also one daughter, Bernice (Mrs. Lester H. Conrad), Branch LaHave, from the second marriage, with whom she resided and who cared for her since the death of her husband over four yeras ago; two step-daughters, Sadie (Mrs. Harben Mailman) of Midville Branch; Ada (Mrs. A. Conrad), of Vogler's Cove; and two step-sons, Paul Veinot of New Canada; and William Veinot of New Canada. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Fred, Mildred, Delmer, Elmer, and Reta; and two great grandchildren and brother, Edwin, the last of the family circle residing at Lower Branch, besides a host of relatives and friends, both at home and in the United States.
The funeral which was largely attended was held on Wednesday afternoon, June 7, from the home, thence to St. James Lutheran Church of which deceased was a faithful member and worker, always attending services until her strength prevented her. Interment was at Midville Branch Cemetery. Rev. C.H. Whitteker conducted the service taking as his text the 27th. Psalm, the 1st verse.

John William Carver
John William Carver, 73, Woodstock, Ontario, formerly of Newburn, Lunenburg County, died Friday in Woodstock. Born in Grafton, Kings County, he was a son of the late Sidney and Idella (Beck) CArver. He is survived by a stepdaughter, Connie (Mrs. David Day). Woodstock; a stepson, Joe Winters, Dartmouth; two sisters, Rita (Mrs. Burpee Meisner), Dartmouth; Bernice (Mrs. Bert Milbury), Newburn; two brothers, James, LaHave; Paul, Elmwood; four grandchildren; a lifetime friend, Al Wile, Windsor. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Agnes Colp; a stepson, Gordon; a sister, Helen. The body is in Langille's Funeral Home, New Germany, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. Funeral will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, St.Matthew's Lutheran Church, Rev.Robert Robb officiating. Burial in Newburn Cemetery.

Bolivar, Mrs. Eleanor Catherine (Jodrey)
At an early hour on Saturday morning, February 18th, 1961, there passed peacefully away at her home at Crousetown, Mrs. G. W. Bolivar, a lifelong and highly respected resident of that community. Although in failing health for some years, her last illness extended over a period of one week during which time she was tenderly cared for by her only daughter, Mrs. William R. Ramey. Born at Crousetown eighty years ago, the late Mrs. Bolivar was the former Eleanor Catherine Jodrey and was the last surviving member of the family of the late Simeon Jodrey and Catherine Eikle Jodrey. Of a very friendly and retiring disposition, the deceased was very much beloved by her many friends who sincerely mourn her passing. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, but was also very willing to assist the other religious denominations of her native community at any time. Surviving are her aged husband with whom she spent almost sixty years of married life, one daughter, Anita (Mrs. W. R. Ramey) and two grandchildren, Gary Ramey and Patsy Ramey. Predeceasing her were one son, George; four brothers and four sisters.
The funeral which was largely attended was held from the Crousetown United Church on Tuesday afternoon, February 2lst at 2.30 p.m. with services being conducted by Rev. Leonard Rodbourne of the Conquerall Lutheran Parish, assisted by Mr. Ralph Miller; student minister of Petite Riviere Pastoral Charge. In his sermon Rev. Rodbourne spoke most highly of the deceased's personality and high Christian principles. The combined choirs of the United Churches of Crousetown and Petite Riviere with Harold Eikle as organist led in singing the favorite hymns, "Jesus Lover of My Soul", and "Bless Be The Tie That Binds. During the service the choir rendered the anthem "Come ye Disconsolate." Pallbearers were George Snyder, Mansfield Stewart, Everette Crouse, Morris Ramey, Arthur Bolivar and Edson Oxner.
Interment took place in the family lot in the Crousetown Community Cemetery.

WENTZELL, V. Marion - 81, Bridgewater, formerly of Wentzells Lake, Lunenburg Co., died September 10, 1995, in South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Born in Pine Grove, Lunenburg Co., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Rose Anna (Wamboldt) Wile. Surviving are sisters, Ellen (Mrs. Fred Zinck), North Queens Nursing Home, Caledonia; Beulah (Mrs. Clayton Allen), Corkums Island; a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Carroll. Visitation 24, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday, both in Sweeny's Funeral Home, Bridgewater, Rev. William Gustafson officiating. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, West Northfield. Family flowers only. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, South Shore Regional Hospital Foundation or any charity.
Abraham Feindel
Funeral services for the late Abraham Feindel, whose death occurred at Pleasantville, January 13, were held at New Germany, January 15, at St. John's Anglican Church, conducted by the rector, Re. W.R. Martell.
The late Mr. Feindel was 77 years of age. He was a son of the late Ephraim and Elizabeth Arenburg Feindel, and was born in New Germany. He spent his entire life there with the exception of the past two years, when he resided in Middle LaHace and Pleasantville.
He was twice married, his first wife, the former Alice Feindel, died some years ago. He is survived by his second wife, formerly Miss Mae Lohnes, of Middle LaHave, youngest daughter of the late Lambert Lohnes and Mrs. Lohnes, now of LaHave, his twin brother, Isaac, also a brother, John Feindel, both of New Germany. Three sisters also survive, Bessie, widow of Mahlon Barkhouse, New Germany; Jessie, widow of Stephen Arenburg, Springfield; Susie, Mrs. Edgar Bolivar, Worcester, Mass.
Burial was made in Lakeside Cemetery, New Germany.
Mrs. Ada Sophia DeMone
The death of Mrs. Ada Sophia DeMone occurred early Saturday morning, September 15th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Veinotte, Upper Cornwall, following a lengthy illness. Born 80 years ago at Upper Cornwall, she was the daughter of the late Gideon and Sophia (Veinotte) Naas. She was a faithful member of St.Mark's Lutheran Church. Her husband, the late Josiah DeMone, predeceased her 24 years ago; also a daughter, Violet, at the age of 8 years; two brothers and three sisters.
Surviving are three daughters, Elma (Mrs. Albert Crossland) of Clearland; Erna (Mrs. Lloyd Veinotte), Upper Cornwall; Laura (Mrs. Stuart Naas), Walden; Glennice (Mrs. Irving Cooke), Lower BRanch, a granddaughter, who resided with her grandmother before marriage; eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Three brothers, Henry Naas of Upper Cornwall, Allie Naas of North West; Oswald Naas of Brighton, U.S.A.; and one sister, Laura (Mrs. William Otterson) of Arlington, U.S.A. also survive.
The funeral was held from St. Mark's Lutheran Church with the service conducted by Rev. Jensen, pastor. Interment was in the family lot at Upper Cornwall. Hymns sung were "O God Our Help in Ages Past, " "Peace, Perfect Peace, " and "Abide With Me." Pall bearers were Irving Cooke, Cecil Crossland, James Hamm, and Earl Fancey.
