Mrs. Lester A. Hirtle
Merna Caroline, wife of Lester A. Hirtle, died in the Dawson Memorial Hospital, on Sunday, September 14, 1969, after an illness whose acute stages lasted about four months.
She was born at Waterloo on July 2, 1924, fourth daughter of Carl and Gladys (Zwicker) Wile. After receiving her early education at Waterloo School and from the Correspondence Division of the Department of Education, she graduated from the Provincial Normal College in 1943 and taught at Falkland
Ridge and Lapland.
On September 1, 1945, she married Lester Hirtle and they soon took up residence at their new home in Wileville, moving to their present farm home, also in Wileville, in 1957.
Surviving besides her husband are their six children, David, at home; Elijah Jonathan on mission in California; Patrick, Martha, Brian, and Brenda, at home; three sisters, Pauline (Mrs. Basil Veinotte), Newburne; Kathleen (Mrs. Eldridge Milbury), Newburne; Muriel (Mrs. Laurie MacKay) Stanley Section; and one brother, Lyman Wile of Waterloo. Her parents predeceased her.
Funeral service was conducted at the Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints by Branch President, James Aulenbach. Three of Merna's chosen hymns were sung, "O My Father, " "Abide With Me, " 'Tis Eventide" and "Come, Listen to a Prophet's Voice" rendered as a solo by Robert Ronson, who represented Hebbville Consolidated High School.
District President, Aubrey A.Fielden of Dartmouth, delivered the message in accordance with Merna's wishes.
Pallbearers were Ervin Hirtle, Robert Ronson, Wayne Hunt, and Albert Bondarenko.
Interment was in Lapland Cemetery, following dedication of the grave by District President Fielden.

WOODWORTH, Goldie Mae — 94, Granville Center, passed away October 15, 2010, in Annapolis Royal Nursing Home, Annapolis Royal. Born in Phinney Cove, she was a daughter of the late Edmund and Lydia (Sarty) Bent. Goldie was a hard working woman who had much love for her family and friends especially for children. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing and gardening. She was a long-time member and Deacon of Granville Center Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Sewing Circle and the Community Club. She is survived by son, Richard, Granville Center; grandson, Michael, Clementsport; granddaughter, Monica Louise, Upper Clements; great-grandchildren, Michael Hume, Eric Woodworth and Maggie Woodworth; brother, Murray Bent, Phinney Cove; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harland; brothers, Earl, Douglas and Gordon; sisters, Della Chute, Alberta Miller and Alma Kenny. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today in Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Granville Center Baptist Church, Rev. Bob Reid officiating. Interment will be in Wadeville Cemetery, Granville Center. The family wishes to offer a special thank you to the staff of Annapolis Royal Nursing Home for the loving care they provided Goldie during her stay. RAMEY, Donald Raymond - 83, Cookville, Lunenburg Co., died September 18, 2002, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII, Halifax. Born in Bridgewater, he was a son of the late Archibald and Emma (Sarty) Ramey. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater and Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas. He worked for C.N.R. and enjoyed farming and his family. Surviving are his wife, the former Eva Baker; daughter, Heather (Bruce) Veinotte, West Northfield; sons, Billy (Barb) and Allen (Carol), both of Cookville; sisters, Josephine Wambolt, Bridgewater; Mildred Cohen, Thornhill, Ont.; grandson, Bryce Veinotte, Lower Northfield; granddaughter, Robyne Veinotte, Ottawa; great-grandchildren, Alexander Veinotte, Bronson Veinotte, Jaden Dauphinee. He was predeceased by sisters, Flossie, Della; brothers, Guy, Albert. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today with a public Legion tribute service at 7 p.m. in R. A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21, Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Burial in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Rozella Louise Herman, 60, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, passed away April 23, 2002 at home. Born in Barss Corner, she was a daughter of Helen (Wotton) Jodrey, and the late Russell Jodrey of Pleasantville. She is survived by her only daughter Corinne (Randall) Wolfe, Broad Cove, granddaughters Alanna and Katlyn Wolfe; sisters Betty Lou (Kenneth) Munroe, Westphal, Sharilyn Henderson, Pleasantville; and brother Dalton (Deborah) Jodrey, Pleasantville, also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, and was laid to rest in her family’s plot in Pleasantville. Funeral services were held on April 26, 2002 at R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, with Rev. Douglas Porter officiating. Rozella will be remembered as being very loyal to her family and friends.

Maurice Warren Veinot, 95, Hemford, Lunenburg County, died Wednesday, November 23, 1988, at home. Born in Hemford, he was a son of the late Howard and Joanna (Emino) Veinot. He was employed at Bowater Mersey for 50 years and was a farmer for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, the former Belle Whynot; two daughters, Edna (Mrs. Roy Ohmert), Texas; Lillian MacKay,
Hemford; five sons, Clifford, Miami, Florida; John, Foster, Elsma, all of Hemford; Royden, Weston, Ontario; a sister, Sadie Stockman, Berwick; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by three

Stockman, Sadie Leone - 93, Berwick, died January 27, 1994, in Western Kings Memorial Hospital, Berwick. Born in Hemford, Lunenburg County, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Joanna (Emino) Veinot. She had been employed in Halifax for many years, before retiring to Kingston. She moved to Fundy Villa, Berwick in 1983 and to Grand View Manor in 1992. She was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church and life member of United Baptist Women's Missionary Society. She is survived by two grandson, Douglas, Berwick; John, Moncton; two granddaughters, Betsy (Mrs. David Horgan), Fall River; Susan (Mrs. Wayne Samson), Mount Uniacke; eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, William; son, Douglas Warren; two brothers, Maurice, Lewis; three sisters, Edna, Maude, Jane. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Santurday in H.C. Lindsay Memorial Chapel, Berwick. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Grand View Manor, Berwick, Rev. Gordon Walker officiating. Burial will be in North Kingston Cemetery. FREEMAN, Glenna Belle Margaret - 93, Hemford, Lunenburg Co., passed away Thursday, February 26, 2004, in Queen's General Hospital, Liverpool. Born in Hemford, she was a daughter of the late Nathaniel "Tanny" and Taphenas "Peony" (Haines) Veinot. She was an adherent of Hemford Emmanuel United Church, where earlier in life she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a past member of the former Rebekah Lodge, Hemford and New Germany. Prior to being married, she taught school within Lunenburg County. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Surviving are her daughter, Eleanor (Randell) Dominaux, Lower Sackville; son, Ronald, Hemford; grandchildren, Kevin (Sharon), Paradise, NF; Gary, Lower Sackville; Natalie (Paul King), Lantz; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Murray; sisters, Barbara Foster, Marjorie Haines, Kathryn Butler, Audrey McIntyre. Visitation 7-9 p.m. today in Sweeny's Funeral Home, 4895 Route 10, New Germany. Helen Marjorie Foster, 79, Phinneys Cove, Annapolis County, died March 22, 1993, at home. Born in Bridgewater, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Edna Rhodenizer. She was a member of Lawrencetown United Baptist Church and member of Valley Rose Rebekah Lodge, Lawrencetown. She is survived by three daughters, Sandra (Mrs. Oscar Healy), Phinneys Cove; Margaret Ann (Mrs. David Deveau), Lawrencetown; Sharelle (Mrs. Blair McGill), Inglisville; sister, Ivy (Mrs. Vernon Hines), St. Rupert, British Columbia; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, David; two sisters, Leda, Luella; two brothers, Lawrence, one in infancy; infant grandson. The body is in Robert L. Hall Funeral Home, Bridgetown, visiting 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, where a lodge service will be 7 p.m. tonight. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Lawrencetown Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Griffin-Allwood officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery.
MAILMAN, Timothy John - 45 Conqueral Mills, Lunenburg Co. passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, Saturday, February, 16, 2002. He was the son of Shirley and Nola Mailman, Springfield. He first worked at East River Hardboard Plant and then for 22 years he was a driver-salesman for Eastern Bakeries. He was an avid hockey player for 309 years. He played for the Springfield Ice Kings in his youth and continued on with the Springfield Old Timers every Sunday morning. Thanks to Philip Wambolt for his wonderful tribute to Tim. He was a member of Dooly's "Outsiders" pool team which won the provincial championship in 2000. He was a dedicated family man and a devoted father. He had a great many friends. He had a winning smile and made friends of all those he met. He is survived by his devoted companion Melissa Smith; daughters, Stephanie and Leah, both of Newcombville; sons Jonathan, Halifax, Joshua, Newcombville; brothers Kevin (Jeanne), Conqueral Mills; Dale (Sue), Conqueral bank. He was predeceased by his sister Jane Lee. Visiting hours were 2-4, 7-9 p.m. February 19. Anna May Veinot
Following a brief illness, Mrs. Anna May Veinot, Upper Northfield, passed away at the D.M. Hospital, Saturday, Oct. 25th, 1969 at the age of 72 years. She was the daughter of the late John and Esther Bruhm, West Northfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Willis Veinot, in 1949. Being of a kind and cheerful disposition she will be sadly missed not only in her home, but by her many friends and relatives, both far and near. Left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother are one daughter Evelyn (Mrs. Clifford Penney) with whom she lived; one son Ross of Stanburne; a grandson Gary Penney, Upper Northfield; four sisters, Mrs. Flora Lowe, Brocton, Mass.; Edna (Mrs. Harlan Oickle); Evelyn (Mrs. Harry Feener), West Northfield; Gertie (Mrs. Ralph MacKean) Pinehurst; a step-brother Rupert Zwicker, Mass., and a large number of nieces and nephews.
