Gerald "Gerry" Fredrick HAWBOLDT

Gerald "Gerry" Fredrick Hawboldt, age 72, of Garlands Crossing, Hants County, passed away on Friday, August 24th, 2007, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
Born on September 23rd, 1934, in Wentworth, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Guy and Grace (Hartt) Hawboldt.
A welder by trade, he retired at age 63, from Fundy Gypsum Company, where he worked for over 35 years. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Quarry Worker Union, Local 294. In his younger years, he was an avid fastball player and later enjoyed darts, camping and especially hunting at the camp in Walton. He especially loved and enjoyed all his grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Charmaine (Fred) Schofield, Brooklyn, and children, Nick and Tara; Nicci (Peter) Clive, Fort Gratiot, Michigan, and children, Becky, Elizabeth and David; David (Sharon) Hawboldt, Edson, Alberta, and children, Teresa, Jordan and Jacob; sisters, Ida (Steve) Smardon, Windsor; Liz (Donald) Spencer, Centre Burlington; Melvina (Wendall) Swinamer, Newport Station; Irene (Grant) Northup, Windsor; Madeline Hawboldt and Mary Hawboldt, both of Windsor; brother, Richard Hawboldt (Shirley Sanford), Centre Burlington; Leonard (Frances) Hawboldt, Wentworth; Raymond (Frances) Hawboldt, Centre Burlington; Grant Hawboldt (Donald Beals), Halifax; Lloyd (Janet) Hawboldt, Tonge Hill; Avery Hawboldt and Myron Hawboldt, both of Windsor; step-sisters, Ellen and Gloria, in Ontario; Dorothy (Avery) Mason, Hillsvale; Doreen (Ted) Eagles, Windsor Forks; step-brothers, Carl (Mary) Sweet, in Ontario; Don Sweet in Ontario; numerous nieces, nephews, also many wonderful brothers and sisters-in-law.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, the former Joan Lorraine Young (February 13/2007); brothers, Leslie Hawboldt, LeRoy Hawboldt, Graydon Hawboldt and Cedric Hawboldt; sister, Ruth Thompson; step-mother, Blanche Sweet; step-sister, Joyce.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, August 26th, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor.
Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday, August 27th, 2007, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jeffrey White officiating.
A committal service for both Gerald and his wife, Joan, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 28th, 2007, at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix.
Family flowers only, donation in memory of Gerald, may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.

ISRAEL, Breylynn Heaven, Halifax, passed away on August 21, 2007. Born into Heaven stillborn but born still, Breylynn was a daughter of Melissa Israel. Surviving are sisters, Briana, Shauntia and Savannah; grandparents, Kim Israel and Jackie Cooper; grandfather, Russell Diggs; aunt, Brandy Israel. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 27, at 3 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth, Rev. Dr. Lennett Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Mary Margaret (MacArthur) Watters
May 7, 1910 - August 22, 2007
WATTERS (MacArthur), Mary Margaret "Mae", 97, Saint Vincent's Nursing Home, Halifax, formerly of Sydney, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family and the caring staff of Saint Vincent's, on Wednesday, August 22, 2007, in the nursing home. Born May 7, 1910 in Grand Mira, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Jane (Gillis) MacArthur. Mae worked with Maritime Tel & Tel where she met her life partner, James "Cecil" Watters, when he worked for the same company. Mae and Cecil raised five children and she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She devoted her life to her family and enjoyed many happy memories at her summer home in Big Pond Centre, Cape Breton. Mae is survived by daughters, Dolores Lannon, Halifax; Eileen (Gilbert) Doggett, Dartmouth; Karen (Michel) Laprise, Dartmouth; son, James "Jim" (Hazel), Stephenville, N.L.; daughter-in-law, Joan Watters, Eastern Passage; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Cecil (1997); son, Winston (2005); two daughters in infancy; son-in-law, Dr. Stan Lannon; sisters, Annie MacPhee, Mary MacNeil, Kathleen MacKinnon, Margaret Sasco, Elizabeth MacLean; brothers, Dan and Frank MacArthur. A special thank you is extended to the residents and staff of Hilltop Villa where she received excellent care prior to moving to Saint Vincent's Nursing Home nine months ago where she also received excellent care. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Vincent's Nursing Home Chapel, with Father Albert Cosgrove officiating. Interment will be held in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney, at a later date. Mr. Arthur Hoggan Francey
December 16, 1921 - August 20, 2007
FRANCEY, Arthur Hoggan - It is with great sadness we announce that on Monday, August 20, 2007, Arthur passed away in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born December 16, 1921 in Glasgow, Scotland, Arthur was the second son of the late David and Elizabeth (Hoggan) Francey. He immigrated to Canada in 1947 and settled in Toronto, Ont., before moving to Dartmouth to be close to his son and family. Arthur owned and operated his own business, Art Francey's Painting and Decorating, for more than 40 years before retiring. He loved choral music, gardening, the sea and ships (including his "beloved" wooden boats). He also coached both soccer and hockey during his years in Toronto. He was a member of numerous choirs and choral societies throughout the years, including, Saint James Cathedral, Toronto and most recently, All Saints Cathedral, Halifax. His passion for gardening was also given to his son and they spent many years competing, which finally ended in a combined garden at his son's house, which will forever be known as "Dad's Garden". Arthur is survived by his son, Fergus and wife Lisa (Jardine); grandchildren, Alexander and Gregory; Lisa's mom, Doreene; brothers, Jim and Ed (Brenda); sisters, Ina (Martin), Veronica, Pauline (John); nephews, Gordon, Bruce, Randy, Jamie and Rodney; nieces, Denise, Gloria and Diane. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Frances (Ballantyne); sisters, Diana, Pearl and Evelyn. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. THORNHILL (MacLeod), Elaine C., 47, Head of Chezzetcook, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 23, 2007, at home. Born February 23, 1960, in Halifax, she was the daughter of Leona (Doucette) MacLeod, Head of Chezzetcook, and the late John MacLeod. Along with her mother, she is survived by her daughter, Gina, and Gina's father, Ed Thornhill. Arrangements have been entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Mr. Kenneth Reginald "Ken" Walker
February 24, 1922 - September 2, 2007
WALKER, Kenneth Reginald "Ken", 85, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 2, 2007, in Dartmouth General Hospital. Born February 24, 1922, in Enterprise, Ont., he was the son of the late Gerald and Pearl (Cousins) Walker. Ken served in the RCAF from 1941-1945 as Wireless Operator/Air Gunner in both Coastal and Bomber Command and was discharged in 1945 as Warrant Officer 1. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ortona Branch No. 69 in Berwick. He enjoyed golfing and curling and was a former member of Berwick and Dartmouth curling clubs and Greenwood, Paragon and Brightwood golf clubs. He was employed in the grocery business with Capitol Stores and later on owned his own store, Walker's Market in Bedford. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris (Dooks); daughter, Janice (Jim) Nelson, Dartmouth; son, Paul, Kentville; grandchildren, Deborah Nelson, Toronto; Mark Nelson, Halifax; Crystal and Shawn Walker, Kentville; sister, Nina Haggerty, Napanee, Ont.; several nephews.
