Mr. Clarence Edward Baltzer

Clarence Edward Baltzer - 49, of Toronto, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 at home. Born in Wolfville, he was a son of Laura (Saltzman) Baltzer, Edmonton and the late George Baltzer. He was employed as a carpenter. He enjoyed hockey, car racing and visiting family. He is survived by a son, a brother, Frederick “Fred” Baltzer, Dartmouth; a sister, Anne “Anna” (Ronald) Croft, Pereau, Kings County; a niece, Amanda Croft; his grandmother, Stella Beach, English Mountain Road, Kings County. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 21, 2010, Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Donations in memory may be made to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
Mr. Clayton Byard Greene
1923-2010
Clayton Byard Greene … of Greenwich, Kings County, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Pereaux, Kings County, he was a son of the late Byard and Evelyn (Fox) Greene. He had been employed as an Agriculture Inspector for the Federal Government. He had been a member of the Pereaux Baptist Church, where he served as Sunday School Superintendant and a Deacon for a number of years and was involved with the choir and the Board of Trustees. Clayton also enjoyed barbershop singing and was a member of the Dukes of Kent. He is survived by his wife, the former Violet Penney; two daughters, Carol-Anne (Alex) Yim, Gibsons, BC; Shelagh (Fred) MacAulay, Sydney; three sons, Gary (Maureen) Greene, Hinsdale, Illinois; Garland (Eva) Greene, Wolfville; Graham (Maryanne) Greene, Lake Land, Florida; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, Carrol and Sheldon; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Vernon. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 4, 2010 in the Pereaux Baptist Church, Reverend Doctor Mark Parent and Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. A reception will follow in Cherry Hall, catered by the Lola B. Eaton Auxiliary. Interment will take place in the Pereaux Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Pereaux Baptist Church. The family would like to thank Dr. Matt Targett and the nurses and the Stroke Team of Medical B at the Valley Regional Hospital for your care and compassion. Doris Rose (Hancock) Holland
Doris Rose (Hancock) Holland passed away in Headwaters Health Centre in Orangeville, Ontario on June 9, 2010 in her 71st year. Born to Robert “Bob” and Evelyn (Leary) Hancock, Doris graduated from Wolfville High School and then served with the RCAF in Europe. After leaving the forces Doris decided to make her home in Toronto and joined the Government of Ontario where she worked until her retirement. Doris leaves behind husband, Edward Allain; cherished daughter, Robyn and son-in-law, Carl Robinson, Shelburne Ontario. Also survived by brother, Jim (Dot) Hancock, Wolfville; nephews, Dale (Misty), Coldbrook and Glenn ( Sherri), Brooklyn, Ontario; brother-in-law S.A. “Sam” Milne, New Minas; nieces, Judy, Dartmouth; Marilyn “Mimi” and Martin Dodge, New Minas; Faye (Terry) Swanburg, Cambridge, Ontario; nephew, Doug (Sharon) Milne, Canada Creek, Kings County. Doris was predeceased by her parents and sister, Ruby (Hancock) Milne. A memorial service was held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Shelburne, Ontario. Interment will take place at a later date in the Willowbank Cemetery, Wolfville. Donations in her name can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association. 1930-2010
Clair Leon Neaves - 79, of Kentville, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, Friday, June 25, 2010. Born in Port Lorne, Annapolis County, he was a son of the late Roy Neaves and Leta (Barnes) (Neaves) McClare. He had been employed for 53 years with George Wade, beginning with stocking shelves and working his way to manager of the Kentville IGA. He later moved to the upstairs offices of Wade’s. Clair was a loving husband, a great father and grandfather, always put his family first and had a great sense of humour. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards and spending time at Medford Beach. In his younger years, he especially enjoyed boating and had a love for the water. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Hiawatha Lodge 57, Kentville and a member of the New Minas Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, the former Eileen Walsh; a daughter, Susan, Coldbrook; two sons, Bryan (Ruth), Antigonish; Mike (Michelle), Bridgewater; a sister, Eileen (David) Ells, New Minas; two brothers, Donald, North Alton; Herman, North Sydney; six grandchildren, Devon, Ryan, Kyle, Andrea, Adrian and Aaron; three great grandchildren, Ethan, Ella and Josée; nieces and nephews. He was the heart and driving force of our family and will be sadly missed. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Shirley Crowell and Lorna Roscoe. There will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend John McNally officiating. Burial will take place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill, Kings County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia, the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses or the Annapolis Valley Palliative Care Program. Alice Jane Redden - 83, of Kentville, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 25, 2010 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Frances “Regis” (Murray) Folks. She is survived by a son, Richard (Dorothy), Kentville; a daughter, Sheila Veinotte, Morden; granddaughter, Christina (Don) Savoie, Dalhousie, New Brunswick; sisters, Lorraine Reynolds, Kentville; Adeline (Clinton) MacInnes, Berwick; Catherine Daigle, Bangor, Maine; Linda Folks, Greenwich; brothers, Gerald (Cora), Alliston, Ontario; Harry (Marie O’Toole), Kingston. Besides her parents, Alice was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; infant son, Edward; sisters, Elaine Bath and Anna Marie Williams; brothers, Edward, Laurie and Donald. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2010 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Jennifer Riley and Reverend Mary Anne Doherty-Fleet, Chaplain officiating.
