Anna Eleanor Wadden
Port Morien
It saddens us beyond words to tell you that our dear mother died surrounded by her family on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in Gimli, Manitoba.
A native of Port Morien, and lived there most of her life, she was the wife of the late Harold T. Wadden and daughter of Annie and Percy Murrant. Six daughters, and eight grandchildren survive.
We Nancy, Christina, Olive, Rita, Philomena and Ann Margaret have had the privilege of being her children, knowing her love and encouragement, intelligence, infectious laugh, her freely given smile, unfailing generosity, her unabashed kindness to us and her many friends. For all this we are truly grateful.
Her family, friends, church and community were very important to her. She was proud to be a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church Choir, a Guild member and a Lay reader.
We remember fondly her active involvement of community organizations and her diligence in serving as president of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies auxiliary, Branch 55, where her humorous participation in skits, wedding showers and other events, especially as Rita MacNeil, were enjoyed by many.
We know that her many friends and relatives will think back of the moments they shared with her. She who spoke quietly and wisely was always there for us. We know the world is a better place because this lady has walked here among us and touched us all so gently, yet so deeply.
Visitation will be Wednesday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in Curry Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday 2 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Port Morien, with Rev. Paul Findlay officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Black Brook Cemetery, as per her wishes alongside her beloved husband Harold.
