LORNTON RAYMOND STATES

STATES....Lornton Raymond, 62, Mount Denson, Hants County, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2002 at home.
Born May 16, 1940, in Mount Denson, he was a son of the late Russell and Elta (States) States.
Lornton enjoyed singing and playing guitar. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife, the former Kathleen "Kay" Paris; daughters, Angela (Mark) Smith, Dartmouth; Sharon States, Oshawa, Ontario; Melissa States, Windsor; son, Lornton Jr. at home; nine grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Bush, Cape Breton; Gwendolyn States, Halifax; brothers, Laurie (Muriel) Mount Denson; Percy (Betty), Three Mile Plains; Arnold, Montreal; Frederick (Yvonne), Newport Station; James, Toronto; several cousins, nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Angus (Helen) Paris, Toronto, Ontario.
He was predeceased by sisters, Marjorie MacDonald, Minnie James; brothers, John, David, George, Brian, Lamont, Delbert, Allan.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, in the chapel of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, Rev. Moses Adekola officiating. Interment to follow in Mount Denson United Baptist Cemetery, Mount Denson. Donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.

J. KEITH MacLEARN

MacLEARN......James Keith, age 56, of Ellershouse, Hants County, passed away on Tuesday, April 8th., 2003, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
Born on September 26th., 1946, in Selma, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was a son of Mrs. Myrtle (nee: Rath) MacLearn, Selma and the late James MacLearn.
He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1968, retiring at Petty Officer 1st. Class, from the Canadian Armed Forces in 1998, after 30 years of service. Keith was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He was a resident of Ellershouse for the past 29 years.
Keith is survived by his wife of 25 years, the former Carol Joan Dunbar; daughters, Patricia Thomson (Tara LaRose), Halifax; Angela Thomson, Windsor; Lesley Seaman (Fred Butler), Newport Corner; Tracey (Richard) Lynch, Port Hawkesbury; six grandchildren, Melissa and Mariah Seaman; Shelby and Hannah Lynch; Jenna and Kristopher Thomson; mother, Myrtle (Rath) MacLearn, Selma; sisters, Mavis (Bob) Tanner, Hundred Mile House, B.C.; Colleen (Raymond) Lowe, Stanley; Bonnie (Gary) Smith, Selma; brother, Kenny (Adelle) MacLearn, Hundred Mile House, B.C.; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, James MacLearn; sisters, Sharon MacPherson and Marion Edwards.
Visitations 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 9th; 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, April 10th, in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor, followed by cremation.
A funeral service, at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12th, 2003, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Padre` Earle Leslie officiating, followed by a private family committal service, at Oakhill Cemetery, Ellershouse.
Donations in memory of Keith, may be made to a charity of one's choice.

J. GRANT MUIR

MUIR......J. Grant, age 82, of Windsor, Hants County, passed away on Saturday, April 12th., 2003, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.
Born on July 12th., 1920, in New Glasgow, Pictou County, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Samuel G. Muir and Margaret (nee: Grant) Muir.
Moving from New Glasgow to Windsor with his family, in 1939, he along with his father, operated a grocery store on O'Brien Street, known as Muir's Grocery. He joined the Canadian Air Force in 1942 and was stationed in Canada and England. Grant was appointed High Sheriff for Hants County in 1960, retiring in 1985. He was a life member of the Windsor Gyro Club and was also a member of Hants County Branch 009, Royal Canadian Legion, Windsor.
He is survived by his wife, the former Julie Elizabeth Lunn; daughter, Christine Casey, Halifax; son, Stephen (Linda) Muir, Moncton, New Brunswick; grandchildren, Sean Casey, Halifax; Scott Muir, Port Alice, British Columbia; Ryan Muir, West Palm, Florida, USA; Nathan Muir, Halifax; sister, Dorothy Cameron, Dryden, Ontario; brother, Don (June) Muir, Truro; brother-in-law, Earle (Melda) Lunn, Moncton, New Brunswick.
He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Dr. Bill Cameron.
Cremation has taken place, under the care and direction of Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor.
No visitation by request.
Funeral service, 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 16th., 2003, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bill Gibson officiating, followed by a reception at the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. A private family interment service, will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
Family flowers only, donations in memory of Grant, may be made to the Hants Community Hospital Foundation; the Victorian Order of Nurses, Hants County Branch or to a charity of one's choice.

PAUL FRANCIS BROTHERS

BROTHERS......Paul Francis, age 42, of Orleans, Ontario, passed away on Thursday, July 11th, 2002, at the Ottawa General Hospital, after a lengthy battle with M.S.
Born on August 22nd, 1959, in France, he is the son of Frank and Patricia (Clarke) Brothers, Orleans, Ontario.
He was a brother to Vicki (Richard) Charron; Michael (Sheila) Brothers and Tami (Victor) Haddad. He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
A memorial service was held at Kelly Funeral Home, Orleans, Ontario, on Monday, July 15th, 2002.
Interment to take place, 2 p.m. Saturday, September 21st, 2002, at Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, with his maternal grandparents. Rev. Charles Milbury is officiating, followed by a reception at Lindsay's Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street, Windsor.

ERIN J. PEMBERTON

PEMBERTON......Erin Jessica, age 21, of Mapleton, Hants County, passed away on Saturday, April 12th., 2003, at the Q.E. II, New Halifax Infirmary, Halifax.
Born on June 23rd., 1981, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she is the daughter of Steven and Dorothy (nee: Wright) Pemberton.
Erin graduated in 1999, from the Windsor Regional High School. She was a former student at the University of New Brunswick, where she studied in the Arts and had a deep passion for the theater and for music. She was very active in the Mermaid Youth Theater, Windsor, for several years.
Besides her parents, Steven and Dorothy (Wright) Pemberton, Mapleton; she is also survived by her brother, Bryan Douglas Pemberton, at home, Mapleton; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Ola (nee: Dodge) Wright, Ardoise; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Fred and Dot (nee: McPhee) Pemberton.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 16th., in Lindsay's Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor.
Funeral service will be held, 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17th., 2003, in the Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. John Bartol and Rev. Jeff White officiating. Interment in the Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
Donations in memory of Erin, may be made to a charity of one's choice.

NORA PRISCILLA SKERRY KEDDY

Keddy....Nora Priscilla Skerry, age 99, of Windsor, Hants
County., formerly of Mount Denson, passed away peacefully
Saturday, September 21st, 2002 at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor.

Born January 16th, 1903, in New Ross, Lunenburg County.,
she was a daughter of the late Judson and Mary (Rafuse)
Meister.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a founding member of Mount Denson United Baptist
Church, and a member of Mount Denson Loyal Workers Sewing
Service.

She is survived by daughter, Joyce (Donald) Anthony,
Peterborough, Ontario.; son, Ronald "Ron" B. Keddy,
Windsor.; grandchildren, Pamela Richardson and Mary Davies;
great-grandchildren, Kathryn, David, Daniel, Matthew and
Rebecca; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Brenton Keddy;
sons, Robert and John, both in infancy; sisters, Elsie
(Mrs. Harry Rourke), Irene (Mrs. John Celene), Glennie
(Mrs. Wiley Davidson), Mary (Mrs. Harold Trenholm),Zeda
(Mrs. Alonzo Peach).

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday in Lindsay's Windsor
Funeral Home, 194 King Sreet, Windsor, where funeral service
will be held Tuesday, September 24th, at 2 p.m. from the
funeral home chapel, Rev. Elizabeth Johnson officiating.
Interment to follow in Mount Denson United Baptist Church
Cemetery, Mount Denson. Donations may be made to World
Visian Canada.

LEWIS EDWARD MANNING

MANNING....Lewis Edward, age 85, of Upper Falmouth, Hants
County, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9th,
2002, at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor.

Born on March 17th, 1917 in Falmouth, Hants County, he was
a son of the late William and Matilda (Patterson) Manning.

Lewis ran the family farm in Falmouth until 1960, then
moved to Halifax where he operated Barrowman Bros.
Hardware Stores for over 10 years with his brother Clarence.
Lewis went on to work for Halifax Seed until his retirement
in 1981, then moving back to Falmouth.

Lewis is survived by his wife, the former Phyllis Potter;
sons, Malcolm (Gail) and Walter (Debbie), both of Falmouth;
daughter, Barbara (Fern) Gebeau, Edmonton, Alberta;
stepsons, Ronald Potter, Yarmouth; Robert (Mary) Potter,
Lower Sackville; Perry (Helena) Potter, Liverpool;
stepdaughters, Sharon (Bill) Claridge, Lower Sackville;
Susanne (Alan) McMahon, Wolfville; sister, Lena Sanford,
Bedford; brother, Clyde (Jean) Manning, North Battleford,
Sask.; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Lewis was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Irene (Alley)
Manning; sisters, Alice McNeil and Florence in infancy;
brother, Clarence.

No visitation by request. Funeral Service will be held
2 p.m. Wednesday, September 11th, in Lindsay's Windsor
Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor, Rev. Garnet Parker
officiating. Interment in Centre Falmouth Cemetery,
Falmouth. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to
Canadian Cancer Society.
