Lyle - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, September 27, 2003. Bruce A. Lyle, a lifetime resident of R.R.#1, St. Thomas, beloved husband of Eleanor (Hutchison) Lyle, in his 79th year. Born in St. Thomas, Nov. 30, 1924, son of the late Alexander and Jessie (Futcher) Lyle. He farmed at Fovant Farms, R.R.#1, St. Thomas. Mr. Lyle was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas where he was a member of the session. He was a former Reeve of Southwold Twp., a Past President of the Central Elgin Jr. Farmers and the Elgin Norfolk C.A.A, a member of the St. Thomas Curling Club and a Past President of the Senior Men s Curling League. A Past Master of Warren Lodge #120, A.F. & A.M., Fingal, he was a member of Palestine Chapter #54, R.A.M., Burleigh Preceptory #21, Knights Templar, the HiRo Shrine Club of St. Thomas, being a member of the Clown Unit and Mocha Temple Shrine, London. In 1994 he served as secretary to the District Deputy Grand Master of the St. Thomas District and the following year was named Grand Steward. Dearly loved father of Nancy Chambers and her husband James of Richmond Hill, Paula Seggewiss and her husband George of Woodstock and Brian Lyle and his wife Kathy of R.R.#1, St. Thomas. Cherished grandfather of Laura, Martin, Krista, Graham, Deren and Kara. Dear brother of Hugh F. Lyle and his wife Donna of R.R.#1, St. Thomas and Louise Sifton and her husband Lyle of St. Thomas. Also fondly remembered by in-laws, Eileen and Dr. Don Catton of Hamilton and by a number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Cutter - It is with great sadness that the family of Elma B. Cutter (nee Stafford) announces her passing on Monday, September 29, 2003. Elma was the daughter of the late Etta and William Harvey Stafford. Elma was dearly loved by her late husband Eric Charles Cutter. Elma will be forever missed by her devoted family: her son Mark; her daughter Dianne and her husband Wayne Garrett; her grandchildren Erika Garrett and her husband Chris Humber, and Kathleen Garrett. Allen - Peacefully, at the Willett Hospital, Paris, Ontario on Monday, September 29, 2003. Wilfrid L. Allen of St. Thomas, beloved husband of the late Audrey (Coombes) Allen (1994). Born in Ste. Croix, Nova Scotia, May 21,1919, son of the late Edward and Hattie (Miller) Allen. He formerly worked as a carpenter for Warren Webster, St. Thomas. Dearly loved father of Stephen Allen and his wife Susan of Halifax, N.S., Kevin Allen and his wife Joanne of Brantford and Darren Allen and his wife Kim of Redford, MI. Stirling - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Continuing Care Centre on Tuesday, September 30, 2003. Miss Sheila E. Stirling, Reg. N of St. Thomas, in her 64th year. Born in St. Thomas, January 1, 1940, daughter of the late H.R. Harry and Jean (De Lacy) Stirling. She was a 1962 graduate of the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing, London and the retired Palliative Care Coordinator at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. Miss Stirling was an active member of Centre St. Baptist Church, having served in many capacities and offices within the church over the years. She was a leader with the 8th St. Thomas Cub Pack of Centre St. Baptist Church since 1955, a member of the Elgin District Scout Executive Council and in 1988 was honoured by the National Scout Council with the Bar to the Medal of Merit . Dearly loved sister of Donald W. Stirling and his wife Evelyn of London and Dr. David R. Stirling and his wife Candace of Langley, B.C. Dear aunt of Robert Stirling and his wife Shelley, Stephen Stirling and his wife Jennifer, Gregory Stirling and his wife Ren e, Katherine Stirling, Martha Stirling, Andrew Stirling and Graeme Stirling. Sullivan - At the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, October 1st, 2003. Joseph Edwards Sullivan of St.Thomas in his 87th year. Beloved husband of Constance E. (Ward) Sullivan and dearly loved father of Barbara and her husband Henry Bernheimer, Maryland; Susan and her husband Steve Hobbs, St.Thomas; Timothy Sullivan, Guelph; Daniel and his wife Lynn Sullivan, St. Thomas and Marybeth and her husband Lee Rickwood, St.Thomas. Dear brother of Margaret Allen, Florida; Mary Medlyn, St.Thomas; Agnes Lawrence, Tillsonburg and the late Winnifred Smith. Joseph is also lovingly remembered by 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Joseph was born in St.Thomas November 6th, 1916 to Daniel and Mary Sullivan, he was retired after having worked for many years with the C & O Railroad. Joseph was a member of the Holy Angels Church, the Third and Fourth Degree Knight s of Columbus and was a former local Chairman (Secretary) of the Trainmen. He was also a wonderful gardener and avid outdoorsman. Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St. St.Thomas until Saturday morning and then to Holy Angels Church where Mass of the Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at the Holy Angels cemetery. Visitation Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home Friday evening at 6:45 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Holy Angels Building Fund or charity of ones choice.
Davey - Peacefully, at her residence on Friday, October 3, 2003. Mrs. Alberta Bernie (Winter) Davey of St. Thomas, wife of Keith Davey, in her 59th year. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, June 8, 1945, daughter of Laura (Cyre) Winter of Simcoe and the late John Winter. Mrs. Davey formerly worked as a homemaker with the Canadian Red Cross and was a former employee of Essex Wire, St. Thomas. She attended Edward St. Baptist Church and was a former active member of Alma St. Presbyterian Church, St. Thomas. Mother of Elizabeth Tosland and her husband Dave of Strathroy, Chris Davey and his wife Gaby of Germany and Bryan Davey and his wife Jacqueline of London. Grandmother of Sophia, Samuel, James, Jonathan, Neven, Alexa and Rebecca. Sister of Zeta Trakalo and her husband Mike, Feeta Hathaway and her husband Leroy, Amanda Winter and her partner Joe, Brenda Kohl, Elva Ivany and her husband Paul, Olga Fearman and her husband Robert, Yolanda Bentley and her husband Jim, Mark Winter and his wife Liz and the late Christanna Birdsell.
