passed away peacefully on January 11, 2014 at Grand River Hospital, Freeport Health Centre, Kitchener. Jerry resided in New Hamburg and was born 82 years ago in East Zorra Township. He was the son of the late Laverne & Agnes (Kaufman) Roth.
Beloved husband of Eleanor (Wismer) Roth whom he married October 9, 1964. Loving father of Duane & Nina Roth of Waltham, MA, Janice & Steve Steckly, Nancy & Nathan Roth all of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Matthew & Nicole Steckly and Marcus & Jamie Roth. Remembered by his brother Lyle (Mick) Roth of Ottawa, sister-in-law Earla Roth of Ottawa, brother-in-law Raymond & Sharon Wismer of Kitchener, many nieces , nephews and the Schwartzentruber family. Jerry was predeceased by his brother Claire Roth, father-in-law and mother-in-law Harold & Vera Wismer and brother-in-law Melvin Wismer.
Jerry was a member of Zion United Church, New Hamburg. He was employed for over 35 years at Murray’s Food Market, New Hamburg.

CONGDON, Flora Eulalee
Died peacefully at home in Foxboro Green, Baden on January 9, 2014, in her 88th year, from pancreatic cancer. Flora was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2006. Mother of Peggy SMITH and her husband, Trevor, of Toronto and their children, Shona and her husband, Kevan SAIDI, Naomi and her husband, Brian DEWOLFSMITH, Kyla, and Bryony and her husband, Jonathan SINCLAIR. Mother of Dan CONGDON and his wife, Mary, of Waterloo, and their children, Peter and Lisa. Great-grandmother of Sophie and Elora DEWOLFSMITH, and Kaden and Rohan SAIDI-SMITH. Predeceased by her brother, Colin MACMURPHY, and her parents, Archibald MACMURPHY and Violet Pearl KNIGHT. Flora was a lab technician and a bookkeeper. Bill and Flora lived many years in Sarnia and Strathroy, before moving to Foxboro Green, Baden. At Flora’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral. passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at her residence Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Yvonne was formerly of Baden. She was born 86 years ago in Fordwich, Ontario and was the daughter of the late Earld & Mary (Frew) Denny.
Beloved wife of the late Jack Bricker who predeceased her in 1968. Loving mother of Mary Lou Bricker of Baden and John Bricker & friend Sue Brent of Cambridge. Dear grandmother of Trisha (Jerry), Tara (Wendell), Treena, Trent, Jessica (Zack), Chad, and great-grandmother of Trinity, Faith, Hope and Serenity. Remembered by brother-in-law Frank Benin of California. Yvonne was predeceased by a grandson John in infancy, brother Ted (Betty) Denny and sister Sheila Benin.
She was a member of the Canadian Order of Foresters.

It is with great sorrow that the Walter family announces the death of John, on December 28, 2013. Predeceased by his beloved wife Pamela Walter of New Hamburg, and his mother, Clothilde Bertha Adams. Father of Linnea Walter of Waterloo, Marjorie Horan (Greg) of Victoria, B.C., and Hilliard Walter (Peggy) of Kitchener. Brother to Meg Walter, and grandfather to Jamie (Elena), Alexandra, Klane, Clare, Thomas, Brandon and Alexander.
John graduated from the Ontario College of Art in 1958 while working at the Royal Ontario Museum where he met Pamela. He obtained his teaching certificate at the Ontario College of Education, Toronto. This led to a position as head of the Art department at Kitchener Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational Institute from 1961-1967. While at KCI John was also the art editor for the Kitchener-Waterloo Record and member of the Board of Directors of the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery. In the summer of 1966 John attended the University of Wisconsin, where he completed his PhD in Art Education. John held several other teaching positions and was a noted lecturer and presenter during his career. He was a dedicated Art teacher to many, including his last position at Waterloo Oxford District Secondary School, and the art therapy program at the Guelph Correctional Centre. In his retirement years, John created his own artwork and ran an Art Restoration Business. John was also an avid photographer and lover of nature, and was an active member of St. George’s Anglican Church, New Hamburg.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3rd, at 11:30 a.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church, 3 Byron Street, New Hamburg, with reception to follow at St. George,s Parish Hall. Donations to Diabetes Foundation of Canada, or charity of your choice, would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy. It is with great sadness that we share the news of Shirley’s death on Saturday December 28, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener. She resided in New Dundee and was formerly of Stratford. Shirley was born 81 years ago in Toronto.
Beloved wife of Garnet (Bud) Koehler who she married December 14, 1956. Loving mother of Pari Seifert (David) of Kitchener, James Koehler (Andrea) of England, Lori Fried (Brian) of R.R. # 4 Bright, Ellen Koehler (Andy McMurry) of Waterloo. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Nicole Blenkhorn (Gary), Nathan (Shelby), Keenan (Trevor), Jack, Drew and great-grandsons Max and Luke. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Karl & Florence (Barber) Koch.
Shirley attended New Dundee Baptist Church and was President of the New Dundee Seniors. She loved knitting for others and reading. She worked for a number of years at the New Dundee Creamery.

passed away on Monday December 23, 2013 at her residence Nithview Community, New Hamburg. She was born 98 years ago in North Easthope Township and was the daughter of the late William & Ethel (Walpole) Cook.
Beloved wife of the late Louis Mohr who predeceased her July 4, 2001. Loving mother of Sandra Mohr , Jane & Bruce Leis all of New Hamburg. Sadly missed by her grandchildren Derek & Danielle Leis of Woodstock and Carrie & Steve Leskew of Barrie and great-grandchildren Ava, Adalyn, John & Meia. Ivy was a member of New Hamburg Fellowship Bible Church and also the Wellesley Women’s Institute. She taught school in the area for many years and did income tax for local families for over 50 years. She loved spending her winters at her home in Sunnybreeze, Florida.

Beloved wife of Allan Gordon who she married September 13, 1947. Loving mother of Ruth & Gerard Ruetz of New Hamburg, Louise & Grant Pauli of Kingsville. Esther was a member of First Mennonite Church, Kitchener. She had attended Kemptville Agriculture College.

Loving father of Mark Buehlow (David Watkinson) of Guelph, Paul Buehlow ( Lynn predeceased), Peter Buehlow (Jackie) and Ruth Aho (Steve) all of Bright. Sadly missed by his grandchildren Joshua Buehlow, Matthew Aho (Brittany), Andrea Aho, Adam Aho, Erica Buehlow and Alexander Buehlow. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Betty Murray (Robert predeceased), Fred Buehlow, Marcus Buehlow (Edna) all of New Hamburg. David was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Hamburg. He was a partner of Coopers & Lybrand and was a board member of Linamar Corporation of Guelph and former board member of Dalsa. He was a member of the New Hamburg Concert Band and volunteered on many charitable and community boards.

Paige, Robert M.
passed away peacefully on December 19, 2013 at his home (Westmount Retirement Home), Kitchener with family at his side, of kidney failure.
He was the last of (The Flying Paige’s) four brothers of the R.C.A.F. WWII. Predeceased by his late wife Audrey Paige (nee Kates), his parents Ernest & Elva Paige, brothers Bertram (D.F.M., Franklyn (D.F.C.), James, grandsons Timothy Koehler, Phillip Paige and daughter-in-law Shelley Paige. Robert is survived by his sister Nancy Paige of San Dimas, California, two sons Franklyn and James of Kitchener, two daughters Janice Koehler of Kitchener and Lynn Netterfield (Audrey’s daughter) of New Hamburg. Missed many grandchildren, great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. Robert was in his 94th year and was retired from the L.C.B.O., having served as manager at several stores in the area.
He was a member of St. George’s Anglican Church, New Hamburg and the New Hamburg Legion Branch 530 and was past president of Kitchener Legion Branch 50. A member at large of the R.C.A.F Association and life member of the Waterloo Rod &Gun.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral. A private family service will take place at St. George’s Anglican Church, New Hamburg and interment in St. James Anglican cemetery , Wilmot Township.
