ABELL, Janie

Our Janie (Linda) won her battle for freedom July 31, 2007, at age 60. Dear daughter of the late Bertrand and Margaret (nee Newton) Abell of Listowel. Janie was dearly loved by family, friends, and colleagues - far and near, young and old. Her greatest gift was her friendship... for to be a friend of Janie's was to bask in the sunlight...of loyalty, generosity, and laughter. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, August 18, with socializing commencing at 10 a.m., and memories being shared at 11 a.m., at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street, Kitchener, 519.749.8467. In lieu of flowers, we would gladly accept donations to the Children's Wish Foundation, since Janie had a true love of children and young people.

NOBLE, Gordon Frederick Charles "The Great"

Peacefully passed away at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, on Thursday, August 20, 2009, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Lois. Dear dad of Sandra Wheeler (Al) of Whitecourt, Alta., Pam Chabot (Bob) of Woodstock, Bob Noble (Tammy) of Cambridge and Jamie Noble (Fariba) of Cambridge. Loving grandpa of Vanessa (Ray), Rob, Jackie, Jenny, Kevin (Sharon), Wayne (Michelle), Tara (Chris), Tasha (Dylan), Crystal (Juan), Christine (Ryan) and great-grandpa to Trista, Alyssa, Cody, Taylor, Kyle, Justin, Tori, Brooklyn, Chase, Cruz, Jordan, Lylah, Logan, Abby and Emma (soon to be). Survived by his sisters, Shirley, Jean, Carol and Marilyn; and his brother, Raymond. Gord was an avid golfer. Friends may call at Coutts Funeral Home, 96 St. Andrews Street, Cambridge on Thursday, August 27, 2009 from 3-4 p.m.. Funeral Services will be held from the Coutts Chapel at 4 p.m.. BOWYER, Suzanne "Sue"

Suddenly, at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener, on Friday, August 21, 2009, at the age of 59. Beloved wife of Kent for 37 years. Cherished mother of Janet Kawecki (Rob) and David Bowyer (Niki). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren, Justin and Jayden Kawecki. Loving daughter of Betty Kehl. Predeceased by her father, Howard "Earl" Kehl. Daughter-in-law of Shirley and Reginald Bowyer. Survived by sister, Virginia Marsella (Maurice) and by brothers, Lawrence (Maxine), Robert (Paulette), Steven (Jeannie), Donald and his friend Ann. Also survived by brother-in-law, Dale Bowyer (Jayne). Sue worked for many years for Revenue Canada. The family will receive friends at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King Street West, Kitchener on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and Monday from 7-9 p.m. Service will be from the chapel on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Reception will be held at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre following the service. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated. Thank you to the Kehl and Bowyer family members who came together and cared. It proves that close-knit families do still exist.

PITVOR, Elsie "Gramma"

Passed peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on Thursday, August 20, 2009, at the age of 103. Beloved wife of the late, Michael (1971). Cherished mother of Carl Pitvor and Helen Pitvor. Will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Connie (Steve DiPisa), Michael Pitvor (Kim), Cyndi Pitvor (Julius), Cheryl Calbury (Ron), Debbie and Wendy. Great-grandchildren, Michelle Stobo (Derek), Candice Pitvor, Sarah and John DiPisa, John and Jeff Calbury, and Matthew. Great-great-grandchildren, Candasya Pitvor, and Cameron and Travis Stobo. Elsie is survived by daughter-in-law, Inge. Predeceased by her sons, Andrew, John and Jacob; and by daughter-in-law, Edna. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Memorial service celebrating Elsie's life will be held at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home, 621 King Street West, Kitchener, on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. with reception to follow at the Ratz-Bechtel Family Centre. As an expression of sympathy donations to the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the 5th floor staff at St. Mary's hospital for their care and compassion.

MANNING, Yvonne

passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener in her 72nd year. Yvonne resided in New Hamburg and was formerly of Windsor. Dear mother of Karen and husband Graham Choonoo of Mannheim and Colin Manning of Windsor. Loving grandmother of Rachael Saunders, Zachary Choonoo and Jeremy Manning. Missed by her brother, Walter Smith of Port Hope and sister, Joan Smith of Kitchener. Yvonne was predeceased by her son, Kevin Manning. Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation to celebrate Yvonne's life will take place on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Mark Jutzi Funeral Home, 291 Huron Street, New Hamburg, followed by refreshments at Nith Terrace Apartments, 156 Waterloo Street, New Hamburg in the lounge from 7 - 8 p.m.. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation or the K-W Humane Society.

KRUGER, Lynne Vivian (nee Hinde)
1964 - 2009

Died peacefully at Toronto General Hospital on August 18, 2009, with her family at her side. Loving wife, daughter, sister and friend, she will be missed by all who knew her and her smiling spirit, here and in England. Survived by beloved husband, Erhard Kruger; step-children, Tamarlaine and Arden; loving parents, Tony and Fiona Hinde; and brother, Neal and his wife Pam and family; mother-in-law, Renate Kruger and family; the loves of her life, Chaz, Oreo and Patience. Predeceased by her brother, Stephen Hinde. Vivian loved creative projects great and small: activities included KW Little Theatre, ceramics, painting, gardening and decorating. A celebration of Viv's life will be held at her Home at 48 Monte Carlo Street in Kitchener, on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 4 until 8 p.m. A private family interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the two causes close to Viv's heart, the Toronto General Hospital, Cardio-vascular Intensive Care Unit or the KW Humane Society, and may be arranged by contacting the Westmount Funeral Chapel at (519) 743-8900.

JEAN OLIVE AMELIA PRACHAR (nee DIEBEL)
1924 - 2009

Jean was born January 24, 1924 in Baden. She was washed in the waters of Holy Baptism, and later was confirmed on March 21, 1937 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Baden by Rev. Horace Erdman. On August 23, 1947 she was united in Holy Marriage to Calvin Joseph Prachar at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, New Hamburg. Their union was blessed with two sons. She entered eternal life on August 18, 2009 at the age of 85 years. Jean's parents, Edward and Olive (Leiskau) Diebel, predeceased her in 1975 and 1987 respectively. Her loving husband Calvin went to be with his Lord on June 3, 2009. She is survived by her sons, Rev. Thomas Prachar of Regina, Saskatchewan and Robert Prachar (Desiree Mambella) of Stittsville; her sister, Evelyn (Charles) Powell of Kitchener; brothers-in-law, Andy Prachar of Mississauga, Henry (Pauline) Prachar of Waterloo and Adolph (Sylvia) Prachar of Kitchener; nieces and nephews, Linda (Gary) Weinstein of Kitchener, Lois (Ron) Green of Kitchener, Brenda (Mike) Wiles of Waterloo, Mark (Carol) Powell of Dorr, Michigan, Joan (Peter) Trautrim of Waterloo, Andrea (Roger) Kieswetter of Waterloo, Tina (Garth) Anderson of Calgary, Greg (Kelly) Prachar of Burlington, Brian (Tracy) Prachar of London and Nancy Isaac of Ottawa. Lovingly remembered by Lore and her daughter Christa Franek of Kitchener. Visitation will be held at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, August 22 (today) from 7-9 p.m. and on Sunday, August 23 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at Faith Lutheran Church, 247 Westmount Rd. E., Kitchener on Monday, August 24, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Krestick officiating. Reception will follow the service in the Church Hall. Interment in Woodland cemetery , Kitchener for those who wish to attend. WAGNER, Maria "Mardi"

passed away peacefully, surrounded by love, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer, on August 16, 2009, in her 59th year. Beloved wife of Jim Wagner of Kitchener for 38 years. Loving mother of Ben Wagner and his wife Candace of Kitchener and Chris Wagner of Fort St. John, B.C. Adored Bibi of Hannah, Konrad and Clare. Cherished daughter of Mary Hildebrand and the late Peter. Dear sister of Peter Hildebrand and his wife Greta of Fonthill and Edward Hildebrand of Jordan. Mardi will be dearly missed by her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place. Mardi's family will receive relatives and friends at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, 519-749-8467 on Friday, September 4, 2009 from 10 a.m. until the time of Mardi's memorial service to celebrate her life at 11:15 a.m. in the funeral chapel. Peacefully, at Grand River Hospital, on Friday, August 21, 2009, in his 75th year. Gerald Eckert of Kitchener, beloved husband of Dorothy Eckert (52 years as of July 27, 2009). Loving father of Valerie Baker (Burnet) of Louisville, Kentucky, Gwen Shivers (Stephen) of League City, Texas, Stephen Eckert of Garland, Texas, Scott Eckert (Lois) of Arkansas and Michael Eckert (Tracy) of Waxahachie, Texas. Grandpa of Kaitlin Baker, William and Jennifer Shivers, Matthew, Melissa and Eddie McKamie. Great-grandpa of Shawn and Shane, Drew and Nolan. Dear brother of Rita Guil, Donald Eckert (Sheila), Brian Eckert (Donna) and Annette Meyer, all of Kitchener. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Survived by sisters-in-law, Clara Eckert, Mitzie Eckert and Pat Armstrong. KENNEL, Mabel

passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener. Mabel was born 91 years ago in Wilmot Township and was the daughter of the late Abraham and Mary (Roth) Steinmann. Beloved wife of the late Reuben Kennel whom she married January 4, 1991 and who predeceased in 1993. Dear step-mother of Clare and Glenys Kennel of Kincardine, John Kennel of Stratford, Murray and Linda Kennel of Tavistock. Missed by her step-grandchildren Bradley and Tanya, Shawn, Amanda and friend Wes. Loving sister and sister-in-law of Reuben Steinmann, Irene Bender, Arthur and Florence Steinmann, Ervin and Erma Steinmann, David and Ruth Steinmann, all of New Hamburg, Walter and Leona Steinmann of Baden, Dorothy and Willard Schwartzentruber of Listowel and Ross Bender of Goshen, Indiana. Also remembered by many nieces and nephews. Mabel was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Bender and brother-in-law, Ervin Bender. Mabel was a member of Steinmann Mennonite Church, Baden and also Especially for Seniors in Baden. Mabel was employed for many years at the House of Friendship, Kitchener and after her retirement she volunteered there as well as at Nithview Community, New Hamburg. Family and friends may call at Steinmann Mennonite Church, Snyder’s Road, Baden on Wednesday July 29, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Mabel’s life will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at Steinmann Mennonite Church with Pastor Steve Drudge and Pastor Myrna Miller Dyck officiating. 1922 - 2009

passed away peacefully at Lanark Heights Long-Term Care Centre in Kitchener on Thursday evening, July 23, 2009 in her 87th year. Bette is remembered by Kate Pfeffer and the Livingston and Hagey families. She will be lovingly missed by Ann Dubé, Alan Whitmore and Denise Soulodre. A special thank you for the years of love and support from the close friends and staff at Lanark Heights and Trinity United Church. Before retirement, Bette had a successful career with Mutual Life for nearly 40 years. She was a lifetime member of Trinity United Church in Kitchener, where she was an avid quilter, choir member, and supporter of many projects over the years. Bette was a world traveller and enthusiastic bird-watcher. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, July 26, 2009 from 2-4 p.m. and will continue at Trinity United Church, 74 Frederick St., Kitchener on Monday, July 27, 2009 from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will follow at Trinity United Church at 11 a.m., Monday with Rev. Jack Paleczny officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. Dear father of Joyce and Earl Martin of RR 2, Elmira, Willard and Dianne Brubacher of RR 3, Moorefield, Fern and Stuart Martin of RR 1, St. Jacobs, Sharon and Dale Martin of Elmira. Lovingly remembered by his 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Brother and brother-in-law of Lydian Kappes, Ivan Brubacher, Lovina Brubacher, Paul Prott and Elmina Brubacher. Predeceased by his parents, Christian and Selina (Brox) Brubacher; one sister, Leah Prott; three brothers Norman, Abraham and Jacob Brubacher; two sisters-in-law Susannah and Eileen Brubacher; and one brother-in-law, Herman Kappes. The family will receive their friends and relatives at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, Elmira on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 from 1-4 p.m. and 6:30-9 p.m. where a family service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday (morning) at 9 a.m. then to the Elmira Mennonite Meeting House for further public service and burial in the adjoining cemetery.
