Mr. Carl Blackwell, age 76 of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. He will be greatly missed by his wife Barbara, stepson Jim Pitcher and granddaughter Kristen, son Stephen (Lisa) Blackwell and grandson Maxim. As well as by best friends Maggie and Jacqui. Alan Leader, age 82, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on Friday, July 11, 2008. Beloved father of Judy (Allan) McCutcheon of Vanastra, Alana (Larry) Murray of Gravenhurst and brother Donald (Mildred) of Wingham. Cherished grandfather to Jason, Lisa, Jarrod, Laura, Clinton, Gordon and Christopher. Proud great grandfather of Dannick, Wyatt, Brodie, Justin, Hailey and Addison.
Alan was predeceased by his wife Barbara (Hines) in 1999. The celebration of the life of Alan will be held at W.G.Young Funeral Home 430 Huron St. Stratford on Saturday July 19, at 11:00 am. David James Nelder
David James Nelder age 61 of Princess Street, Stratford passed away as the result of a motor vehicle accident on Monday, July 14, 2008. He was born in Hamilton son of the late Frederick Robert and Frances Nelder and had lived in Grimsby and Cochrane moving to Stratford in his early years. David was a tool and die maker by trade and was presently employed at Northfield Metals in Waterloo. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Stratford Branch # 8. Beloved husband of Rosemary Martin whom he married July 17, 1971 at St. Pauls Anglican Church. Loving father of James Nelder and Tori, Mitchell, Michael Nelder and Katie, Stratford. Dear grandfather of Tanner and Drew. Brother of Lorna MacCormick, Stratford, Carol Fraser and Alex, Drumbo, Charles Nelder and Marjorie, Seebach's Hill, Fred Nelder and Linda, Osoyoos, BC. Brother in law of David Martin, Stratford. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother in law Rick MacCormick, a nephew Rod MacCormick and his mother in law and father in law Thelma and Richard Martin. Earl Galbraith
Earl died peacefully at the Forest Hill Nursing Home in Kanata, ON. Thursday 19th June, 2008. He chose a life of service: to his country in the RCAF for 35 years; to this city of Stratford as Assistant Recreation Director for 2 years and as Director for one; to his fellow senior citizens for many years designing and co-ordinating Pre-retirement courses and serving as President of the Lakeside Seniors Association for 2 years; and to his church as an ordained Deacon for over 30 years. Earl’s hobbies were learning, organizing and public speaking. He attained the rank of “Evaluator” in the Toast Master’s Association. He is survived by his son, Larry Galbraith of Ottawa, wife Dianne, two granddaughters, Christine Pigeon (Sean) and Johanne Chauvin (Marc), and six great-grandsons. A memorial service celebrating Earl’s life will be held at the Community of Christ Church, 226 Foreman Avenue, Stratford, ON. 10 a.m. 19th July, 2008. Interment will follow in Avondale cemetery. Gregory Valcke
Mr. Gregory Joseph Valcke, 58, of Stratford, died peacefully at his home on Friday, July 18, 2008. He is the beloved husband of the former Catherine Walsh whom he married October 19, 1985 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Stratford. Will be missed by his Norfolks Fanny and Gremlin. He was born in Windsor on September 23, 1949, son of Dolores Valcke and the late Andrew Valcke. After graduating with a Professional Engineering degree from the University of Windsor, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, he was an engineer with Chrysler Canada in Windsor until the late 1970’s, and then spent the next 25 years with Fram in Stratford carrying many titles but best known as their Manager of Manufacturing Engineering. He developed his first patent on June 27, 2000. Greg and Cathy owned and operated Crescent Hill Gallery on Ontario St. in Stratford for eight years. He retired from Fram in 2005 and began Valcke Consulting Services. He was a very proud resident of Stratford and enjoyed sharing his love for the city with all who visited his home. His love for baseball began when he was the altar boy at Hall-of-Famer Brooks Robinson’s wedding in Windsor, and it continued until his final weeks as he continued to play slo-pitch. Loving brother of Cathy Boniface and husband Wayne, Waterloo, Colleen Adams and husband Roy, Kingsville, Mike Valcke and wife Maureen, Windsor, Tom Valcke and wife Paula, St. Marys, Maureen Valcke, Windsor, and Margo Curran and husband Pete, Windsor. Dear son-in-law of Myrtle Walsh. Brother-in-law of Joan Sheppard and husband Paul, Brockville, Marjorie Garneau, Stratford, Tom Walsh, Barrie, Martin Walsh and wife Kris, Mississauga, Irene Lydon and husband Barry, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Michael Walsh and wife Francine, Moncton, New Brunswick. Mrs. Sheila Elizabeth Bentley, passed away peacefully at Spruce Lodge, Stratford on Sunday July 20, 2008 in her 76th year. Beloved wife of 57 years to Fred Bentley of Stratford. Loving mother of Susan Haveman and husband Harry of Walkerton, Margaret Sarino and husband John of Mississauga and Christopher Bentley and wife Lisa of Burlington. Cherished grandmother of Amanda and Lisa Keip of London.
Predeceased by grandson Ian Keip.
Sheila taught for the Huron Perth Separate School Board for many years. She was an active member of St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church.

Mr. Bernart "Ben" De Wetering, age 47, passed away on Sunday July 20, 2008. Born in St. Marys, son of the late Harry De Wetering and the former Christina Gansevles. Ben was very involved with the community and enjoyed coaching soccer. Beloved husband of Jo-Anne De Wetering whom he married on July 31, 1993. Mrs. Maudie Chipp-Smith, age 85, of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Spruce Lodge on Monday, July 21, 2008. Beloved wife of the late Sidney Chipp-Smith who predeceased her on February 23, 2003. Loving mother of Eva Hayes and husband Ivan of Shakespeare, Brian and wife Florence of Windsor, Edward and wife Joan of Toronto and Andrean and wife Heather of Beaverton. Maudie will be greatly missed by her sisters Emma Peters, Sadie Young, and Rita Hutchman of Northern Ireland, as well as by her nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.Predeceased by her parents, four brothers and sister May Graham. Ryan William Albrecht, age 17, of Stratford passed away suddenly at Grand Bend on Wednesday July 23, 2008. Ryan was born in Stratford, and was a student at Central Secondary School. He loved music and many sports including hockey, lacrosse and biking. Cherished son of Kathy and Roger Albrecht. Loving brother of Brandon. Dear grandson of Dave and Carol Koch and Ruth Albrecht. Great grandson of Lois Bart.
