83 years, peacefully after a lengthy illness with his wife and children by his side on October 22, 2004 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Windsor. Formerly of Tecumseh. Beloved husband of 60 years to Joan (nee Leigh). Loving father of Louise and husband Dennis Wright, Margaret and husband Reg Melanson, Patricia Iler and companion Doris Wilson, Gayle Weston, James Weston and Sue King and Chuck Weston and wife Sherry. Dear grandfather to Jeffery Trudell and wife Rachelle, Kathleen and husband Scott Crooker, Leslea Trudell and companion Peter Bailey, Jason Melanson and wife Suzie, Matthew and Andrew Melanson, David Iler and wife Shelly, Carrie and Kyla King, Steven and Karlie Weston. Also survived by 7 lovely great-grandchildren. Survived by brother Thomas Weston and wife Eileen and sister Morella and husband Leo Donnelly. Predeceased by brothers Patrick and James Weston. Also survived by many niecs and nephews. Charles retired from the Windsor Police Force as Deputy Chief of Police after 35 years of dedicated service, was a veteran of WWII having served with the Windsor Essex-Scottish Regiment 1939-1945, a Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1453 and Dean Wagner Assembly, Gvzera Caravan Order of Alhambra, a 50 year member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #255, Past-President of the Windsor Police and Police Pensioners Associations, Past-President of St. Theresa Parish Advisory Board and K of C Minstralaires. Charles, also volunteered his time and generosity to numerous associations and charitable organizations. Charles was a loyal Detroit Red Wing Fan. Visitation will be held at the Marcotte Funeral Home & Chapel 12105 Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh (735-2830) on Sunday & Monday from 2-5 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. Parish prayers Sunday at 7:30 p.m. A Legion Service under the auspices of R.C.L. Br. #255 will be held Monday at 7:00 p.m. Charles Weston will Lie In State at St. Anne Church 12233 Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh from 9:30 a.m on Tuesday, October 26 until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Robert Couture will be the celebrant. Interment at St. Anne cemetery. In kindness memorial donations to Holy Name of Mary Food Fund or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. A tree will be planted in the Marcotte Heritage Forest. A dedication service will be held September 25, 2005. All are welcome.

Olsen, Gerald E., 90 years, peacefully, on October 28, 2004 at WRHC-Western Campus with his family at his side. Beloved husband and best friend of 66 years to Juliet (nee Reaume). Loving father of Dr. Gerald Olsen and Inge, of North Bay; Marilyn and Mike Berthiaume, of Lakeshore; Dan and Jennette Olsen, of Brampton; and Brenda and Bob Gossage, of New Jersey. Dear son of the late Yens and Edna Olsen (nee Bensette). Proud Pepe of Stephanie, Matthew, Kaylan, Amy, and Michael Olsen; Frank Gossage. Dear Papa of Jason and Dr. Katherine Berthiaume, Julie and Kirby Ouellette. Dear brother of Frank and Muriel, Ralph and Joan,and the late Carl and Earl Olsen. Dear brother-in-law of Corrine Reaume, and Isabelle LaCombe. Gerry was a proud employee of Ford Motor Co. for 45 years. He enjoyed 25 winters of his retirement in Fort Myers, Florida and his summers at his beloved cottage at Goodchild Beach. He was a member of the Fort Myers Knights of Columbus. Gerry was extremely happy to have spent his last few days under the loving care of Kelly. The family would like to thank all the staff of La Chaumiere and the WRHC-Metropolitan and Western Campuses for the loving care given to Gerald. Visiting Friday, from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Parish prayers Friday at 7:30 p.m. at The Marcotte Funeral Home and Chapel, 12105 Tecumseh Rd. Tecumseh (735-2830). Visiting continues on Saturday, October 30th, from 10:30 a.m at St. Gregory the Great Church (St. Clair Beach) until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Fr. Thomas Janisse will be the celebrant. Cremation. As your expression of sympathy, a donation to the Diabetes Wellness Centre of Windsor/Essex or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Essex County would be appreciated. Rene Edward Laporte

Laporte, Rene Edward, 73 years, passed away at home peacefully with his family by his side on September 28th, 2004. Rene showed great courage in his battle with cancer. Loving father of Brian and wife Julie of London, Gary and wife Joan, John Marc and wife Kim and Dan and wife Teresa. Predeceased by wife Norma (2003). Treasured Grand Dad to Louis, Natalie, Katie, Sam, Gracie, Andrew and Marc and special step Grand Dad to Chris Cullen. Predeceased by parents Leo (1965) and Isabelle (nee Chauvin) (1988) Laporte. Dear brother of Marianne (2000) and George (1996) Cote, Norman (1998) Laporte, Albertine and Arthur (1994) Musson, and Doreen and Dave Buckborough of Guelph. Cherished brother-in-law to the Little's Family. Special uncle of many nieces and nephews. Rene was a salesman and manager at Wonder Bakeries for 13 years. He also worked at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, Standard Brands (Lowneys), and BelKraft International before retiring in 1988. Rene coached and officiated minor hockey for many years and was an executive member of St. Clair Beach Minor Hockey in it's inaugural year, 1967. He was also a member of the St. Gregory Folk Choir and a member of Walkerville Deep Bay Hunt Club. Rene spent his last 25 years working on projects for "The Cottage" up north, which he proudly built with his four sons. Kindogan Lake will forever hold his spirit. Thank you to Dr. Gopaul at the W.R.C.C. and to Anne Quenneville from C.C.A.C. and to all of the nurses and care-givers especially Donna.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 1, 2004 at 12:15 p.m. from the Marcotte Funeral Home 12105 Tecumseh Road, Tecumseh, (735-2830) to St. Gregory the Great Church, Tecumseh for Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Fr. Gerard Dewan will be the celebrant. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Windsor Regional Cancer Centre or the Charity of your choice. A tree will be planted in memory of Rene Laporte in the Marcotte Heritage Forest. A dedication service will be held in September 2005. All are welcome.

WEERAPURA, Abhaya 75 Years. Died on October 1, 2004 at Windsor Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Campus. Beloved husband of Umadanthi (nee Siyaguna Kosgodage) of Windsor. Loving father of Kumari Edirisinghe and husband Nalaka of Windsor, Pramoda Fatehchand and husband Vinod of Rochester, N.Y., Asanga Weerapura and wife Shani of Ottawa, Nirodha Jayatilaka and husband Arya of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Dear grandfather of Isura, Suhitha, Lakna, Anodika, Kavin, Tirani, Milani, Avika, Thenuka and Akila. Dear brother of Chandra Fernando and husband Winnie. In kindness, memorial donations may be made to the Windsor Buddhist Vihara, 372 California Avnue, Windsor, Ontario N9B 2Y7 as your expression of sympathy. Francis "Red" Xavier Westfall
July 15, 1923 - October 08, 2004

Westfall, "Red" Francis Xavier Peacefully on Friday October 8, 2004 at Met Hospital with his daughter by his side, at the age of 81. In the 60's, Rollin' Red was a stock car announcer and driver at Checker Flag Raceway. In the 70's he was a professional clown and animal trainer. Known as "DUDE The Cowboy Clown" he performed on CKLW's 'Bozo the Clown' with Buffy the World Famous Clown Dog and at Boblo Island Zoo with Sonny the Chimpanzee. In the 80's, Francis was Colour Guard Commander and a lifetime member of The Royal Canadian Legion, RCL Branch 143. He also celebrated 41 years "One Day At A Time!" Of all his endeavours he was most proud of being a Buddy Ball Umpire for physically and mentally challenged children. Red always had a special place in his heart for kids. Beloved husband of the late Enis "Ann" Westfall (nee Bastianon). Dear Dad to Darlene. Cherished "Papa" of Rachel Enis. Loving brother to only sister Lorraine Mercer. Brother to John, James and Robert (Laura) Westfall. Predeceased by brothers Orville, Stanley and Basil. Survived by cousins, many nieces and nephews, family friends, staff and new friends at Malden Park especially Germaine Goudreau. Blessings and thank you to caregivers Joyce, Maya and Domenic. Life long friend to Johnny Banks. Visitation at the Janisse Brothers-Marcotte Funeral Home, 1139 Ouellette Avenue on Monday from 7-9pm and again on Tuesday from 3-5pm and 6-9pm. RCL Service will be held Tuesday at 7pm. Parish prayers will be said Tuesday at 7:30pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday October 13 at 2:00pm at St. Alphonsus Church until Mass time at 2:30pm. Interment at Heavenly Rest cemetery. Memorial donations to Parkinsons Foundation and Diabetes Association would be greatly appreciated by the family. Dear papa to Jenet, Jackie; Matt, Ben and Nick; Janine, Keith; Jordan; Carly, Marty, Jr.; Hudson and Haiden. Larry was an insurance adjuster in Michigan and had served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean War Vet and was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. 255 (Riverside). A “Sharing Time” will take place Friday at 8:00 p.m. A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, August 7 at St. JohnVianney Church, 385 Dieppe Street, at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Loving father of William 'Billy'; Kevin; and Jeff and wife Kristin. Dear son of the late Norman and Eva (nee Mayville). Dear son-in-law of Marie Adam and the late Adrian Demers. Dear Pépé of Holly, Heidi, Sean, Megan, Terra and Gillian. Dear brother of John McNorton and Maureen Billings; Mary Helen St. Pierre and Allan Boyd; Charlene and Jim Williams and the late Paul(1973). Jerry was a retiree of Daimler Chrysler after 37 years of service and was a member of C.A.W. Local 444.
