Mr. Moore passed away suddenly, after a brief illness at Extendicare Nursing Home in Halieybury on Saturday, January 3rd, 2004 in his 81st year. Beloved husband, for 51 years, of Connie (Fielder). Loving father of Rory (Gail) of New Liskeard, Ian of Kingston, Dale (Lisa) of Timmins and Candace Butz of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and predeceased by Cathy and Kerry. Dearly remembered by his grandchildren Christopher, Sarah, Jeremy and Zachary, Alexandra, Carolyn and Paige Moore and Gunnar Butz.
Predeceased by his parents Harold B. “Dinty” and Glenn Moore. Dear brother of Doug (Sylvia) of Kirkland Lake, Barb (Dr. J.W.B. Leacy) of Kingston and Glenda (Mike) Poupore of North Bay. Remembered by his nieces and nephews and his many cousins and their families.
Visitation for the late Hugh Moore will be held at Perrin Funeral Chapel on Whitewood Ave. in New Liskeard on Monday, January 5th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish on Maple St. in New Liskeard on Tuesday, January 6th at 2 p.m. Fathers Lemire and Scully celebrating. Memorial donations to Haileybury Rock Walk Inc. will be gratefully acknowledged. We thank and acknowledge the Pall Bearers Rich Spence, Bob Lipic, Ben Bernstein, Todd Steis, Paul Bateman and Fred Sharpley.

Hugh Allen Moore was born in New Liskeard on July 5th, 1923. He was 9 when his family moved to Kirkland Lake. At the age of 15 Hugh moved to Haileybury to live with his Grandpa McGinley to help his aunts and to attend high school. During World War II, Hugh served on several corvettes for her Royal Canadian Navy including his favorite the HMCS Camrose. Hugh graduated from Haileybury School of Mines in 1951 and began a 40 year career in the Mining Industry. That same year he married Constance Feilder. Their family: Cathy (deceased in infancy), Kerry (deceased in infancy), Rory, Ian, Dale and Candace.
Hugh had a world wide reputation in the Mining Industry. Over the years he was honoured with many awards, collected a house full of precious rocks and served his community well.
His family and friends will always remember him as the guy who knew and was known by everyone. His years of dedicated service (as listed) only touched on the importance of his role with these organizations. His grandchildren- Christopher, Sarah-Lanna, Zachary and Jeremy (children of Rory and wife Gail), Alexandra, Carolyn and Paige (children of Dale and wife Lisa), and Gunnar (son of Candace) will remember Gramps for his sense of humour and interest in their achievements.
· A founding father of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Parish (built in 1957) and was known as the Candy Man
· Coordinated the districts display of catechism and children’s religious books
· Chairman of Ticket Sales for the New Liskeard Figure Skating Carnival for many years
· President of the New Liskeard Fall Fair and exhibited his vegetables for over 50 years
· 1st President of the Northern Ontario Prospector’s Association
· Served on the CIM National Council and was President of the Cobalt Branch of CIM
· Received the distinguished Service Award from the CIM
· Recipient of the Cobalt Man of Year Award
· Inducted into the Haileybury School of Mines Hall of Fame
· Secretary for the HSM Alumni, organized annual reunions, wrote and distributed the Alumni Newsletter for over 30+ years
· Sat as an original member of the Northern College Board of Governors
· Organized HMCS Camrose reunion events and planned the first gathering (50th Anniversary in 1993) while under-going radiation treatment for throat cancer
· Read the WW II Honour Role, Haileybury Cenotaph, at Remembrance Day Services and was a proud member of the Haileybury Legion Branch 54

Dan Wilkinson, 75 years, peacefully, on December 30, 2003 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease. Beloved husband of the late Fran (nee Specht) (1981). Loving father of Dan, Jr., of Windsor; Kathleen and husband Len Clapp, of Farmington, Mi.; Maureen and husband Ed Silvaggi, of Tecumseh. Dear grandpa of Jeremy Wilkinson; Jennifer, Chris and Neil Clapp; Michael Girard and Chantal; Santina and Sarah Silvaggi. Great-grandpa of Hailey. Dear brother of Ed and Connie Wilkinson. Dan was a G.M. Trim Plant retiree after 23 years of service and was a honorary member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council 4386.
Visiting Thursday, New Years Day from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus prayers Friday at 7:00 p.m. followed by parish prayers Friday at 7:30 p.m. The funeral will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. from The Marcotte Funeral Home and Chapel, 12105 Tecumseh Rd., Tecumseh (735-2830) to St. Anne Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Robert Couture and Fr. Tom Lever will be the celebrants. Interment at Heavenly Rest cemetery. A special thanks to the caregivers at Brouillette Manor.
A tree will be planted in memory of Dan Wilkinson in the Marcotte Heritage Forest. A dedication service will be held on September 26, 2004. All are welcome.

Maureen Nora Nicholson (McLean) died tragically at home in Kingston, Ontario, on December 23, 2003. Born in Thunder Bay on January 4,1964, she graduated from Westgate Collegiate & Vocational Institute, where she was a member of the school band. Maureen was a member of Wesley United Church and active in both the Wesley Collection youth choir and First Church United CGIT. Maureen graduated from St. Lawrence College in Kingston, and held employment with the Ministry of Community and Social Services and Odyssey Travel Agency. She was currently studying computers and medical terminology and was also active as a fundraiser for local schools and charities. Maureen married Ian Nicholson on June 11, 1988.
She is survived by her 12-year-old daughter, Laura; parents Eleanor and Jack McLean, Thunder Bay; brother Greg McLean, Kingston; sister Heather Kenehan (Jack), Barrie; mother-in-law Willa Nicholson, Kingston; brothers-in-law Jim Nicholson and Stuart Nicholson, Ottawa and numerous other relatives. A Service of Remembrance will be held in Kingston on December 31, 2003, at 11:30 a.m. (visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) at the Gordon F. Tompkins Township Chapel, 435 Davis Drive, Kingston, Rev. Nadine Greaves-Deslippe officiating. Everyone is encouraged to wear bright colours to the service. If friends so desire, donations in memory of Maureen may be made to Hospice Kingston or to a charity of their choice.

Loving Pipi to Sarah, Matthew, Katelynn, Megan and Zachary. Stan will be missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Employed by Heaton Sanitation for the past 7 years, Stan was a very hard working man who loved all his children very much. He will be missed by long time fishing b buddy Kevin and friends Roland and Roger. He always had a kind word and a smile for anyone he met.

Peacefully at the Henderson Hospital on Saturday, December 13, 2003 at the age of 70. Jim Ridge, beloved husband of Ishbel; dear father of Heather Ridge & partner Gary Bateman; Jim Ridge & spouse Barbara Wilk-Ridge; Brent Ridge; and loving grandfather of Ryan Ghaili & Brandon Ghaili. Jim worked as a real estate broker for 35 years and was currently with Royal LePage State Realty. He was a former Trustee and Chairman of the Wentworth Board of Education and a former Councillor for the Township of Binbrook.
Cremation has taken place. A Service of Remembrance will be held at the DODSWORTH & BROWN Funeral Home, ANCASTER CHAPEL, 378 Wilson St. E., on Thursday afternoon December 18th at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, those wishing, may make memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Yves Verpaelst, (Polisher at X-Syst Mold Solutions Inc.). passed away at his residence on Sunday November 30th, 2003. Yves Verpaelst of Midland at the age of 46. Loving father of Celissa, Jared and Levi. Former husband of Beverly McCallum Verpaelst of Midland. Survived by his parents Julien Verpaelst and Carmelle Lapointe Verpaelst. Brother of Andre, Michel, Daniel, Francois Verpaelst and Manon Pelletier. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, Friend and former companion of Deidre Price and her son Jason DeMelo. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Will be remembered in a special way be his first wife Teresa ( nee Belland ) of Rockland. Father of Roger Jr. and wife Glenda of Ottawa, Keith and wife Leanne of Tecumseh, Kim and husband Mike Buzzetti of Orleans, and Shawn of Rockland. Loving brother of Lucien and wife Rita of Essex, and Cecile and husband Jim Sunman of St. Petersburg, Florida. Dear brother of the late Ernest, Lillian, Laurette, Yvette, Edmee, Gerard, and Fleuriant ( Floyd ). Grandfather to Matthew, Michelle, Andrea, Nicole, Mikaela and Makenzie.
Roger worked at Canada Customs for 39 years and was instrumental in the implementation of the canine unit for searching out illegal drugs. He also served as a customs officer for Canadian Troops in Cyprus, taught at the Customs college at Rigault and ended his career in management in the port of Windsor. Roger is a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 594 and served on the Board of Directors for the Essex County Association for Community Living for several years.
Visiting will be held on Thursday, from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Prayers Thursday at 7:30 p.m. led by Sister Mary Lyons, S.N.J.M.
