SILINS, Talivaldis - Saturday afternoon, December 14, 2002, at the SRH Memorial Site, aged 77 years. Beloved husband of Hermine (Pierbaumer) Silins of Sudbury; loving father of Jasmine Urisk of Guelph and Gerlinde "Linda" Urisk (husband Dave Brouse) of Sudbury; cherished grandfather of Chris Brouse, Sean Brouse, Jennaka Urisk, Matthew Faye and Jillian Faye; dear brother of Velta of Latvia. Predeceased by two brothers and one sister. Sadly missed by two nephews in Latvia. Private family funeral service in the R.J. Barnard Chapel, Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury, Friday, December 20th, 2002. Interment in the Civic cemetery , Sudbury. Flowers or donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated. (At Mr. Silins request there will be no visitation or services to be attended by the public.)

KOSTAL, Franklin Joseph "Spider" - Passed away, after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer, at Guelph General Hospital, Guelph, on Saturday, December 14, 2002. Frank (Spider) Kostal, at the age of 69 years. Beloved husband of Marion Sanders. Father of Frank, Bob, Brenda of Elora, Wayne and Michael. Grandfather to six grandchildren. Dear brother of Betty and her husband Gord Barnes of Guelph and Nancy and her husband Jack Round of Sarnia. Predeceased by his brother, Bill and his sister, Ruth. Friends may call at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL - McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph (from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday). Service at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL on Tuesday, December 17, 2002 at 1 p.m. Interment Woodlawn cemetery. McKAY, Laura I. - passed away peacefully, with her family and friends at her side, on Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, Laura Irene McKay, beloved wife of the late Victor McKay (2000). Dear mother of Susanne Billing (Alan) of Fort Erie, Patricia Belanger (Serge) Chateau Gai, Que., Kathleen of Calgary; dear sister of Mary La Perriere of Temagami, Ont. and grandmother of Melanie, Ryan, Patrick, Sarah and Christopher; treasured aunt of Pat, Rene (Lillian), Pierre and their children. A special thank you to Dr. C. Che and palliative care nurses, Audrey, Carol, Dorothea, Stella and Cheryl and Mum's many friends. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Temogami, Ont. Arrangements entrusted to Niagara Funeral Alternatives, Ridgeway, (905) 894-0120. HANCOCK, Denis - (Retired Teacher, Ministry of Correctional Services). Died suddenly, in the Dominican Republic while pursuing his passion of sailing, on Sunday, December 1, 2002, in his 69th year. Beloved husband of Audrey of Port Rowan and dear father of Janet Hancock (Daniel Woodrow) of Comox, B.C., Graham (Janet) Hancock of Kincardine and Michael (Victoria) Hancock of Kitchener. Loving grandfather of Emily and Jonas Woodrow, Nicole, Michelle, Benjamin, Kaitlin and Brittany Hancock. Also survived by a brother, Peter Hancock; a sister, Brenda Greenfield; his stepmother, Betty Hill and a stepsister, Pamela Pleasance, all of the United Kingdom. Predeceased by two stepbrothers, Timothy and Kevin Hancock. A memorial service will be held at Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes St., Kincardine, on Monday, December 9, at 11:30 a.m. Denis began his working life at the age of 15 as an apprentice carpenter for Fisher & Son in Nottingham, England. As a ship's carpenter for a New Zealand shipping company aboard the Rangi Tiki, he met the love of his life, Audrey, who was his rock for 42 years. Denis became a teacher and taught his love of woodworking to others, first at the Nautical Training School in England and to the youth in the Correctional Services system in Quebec and Ontario. He received his Masters in Education from the University of Massachussetts. Denis was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and valued each for their unique abilities and qualities. Denis's passion was "messing about in boats." From ships on the worlds' oceans, houseboats on the River Avon and sailboats on the Great Lakes, he loved them all. Denis was a wonderfully caring man, humble about his many achievements. Above all, he valued the love of his family and friends. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario may be made as expressions of sympathy.

FACH, Dianne Lynn - Suddenly, at Guelph General Hospital, on Sunday, December 15, 2002. Dianne Lynn (Close) Fach, in her 60th year, beloved wife of Ron Fach. Dear mother of Cindy and her husband James Pitts, Kelly Crawford, Phillip Pettifer and his wife Pat, Collen Pettifer, Cindy and her husband James Stewart, Rhonda Indewey, Ron Jr. and his wife Barb and Laurie and her husband Paul Daudlin, all of Guelph. Loved Gramma of 14 grandchildren and Gigi of four great-grandchildren. Dear sister of Eileen and her husband Alfred Proctor of Guelph, James Close and his wife Colleen of Waterloo and the late Shirley Thompson and John Close. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph today (Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.) where funeral service will be held in the chapel on Thursday morning, December 19, at 11 o'clock. APLIN, William Donald - Suddenly, on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, as the result of a motor vehicle accident. Don Aplin, in his 46th year, beloved husband of Diane Aplin (nee Minett) and loving father of Kym and Warren. Loved son of William and Janet Aplin of Barrie and son-in-law of Russ and Ev Minett of Mississauga. Nephew of Bill and Eleanor Raynor of Barrie and cousin of John and David Raynor. Don will be sadly missed by his dog "Trio", the cats "Friendly", "Viper" and "Lilleigh" and "Snowflake" the rabbit. DOLDERMAN, Jacobus (Jake) - Passed away, in London, Ont., on Friday, Dec. 6, 2002. Jake was born on July 15, 1914 in Woerden, Netherlands. Predeceased by his wife Alice in 1991. Survived by his sons, Cornelis Johan of London and his wife Dian and Jake of Simcoe and his daughter-in-law, Joan of Guelph. Grandpa will be missed by 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Remembered by his sister, Ali of Woerden, Netherlands. Also predeceased by two brothers and his oldest son, Joe (Johan Cornelis). Friends and relatives may call at the Graham A. Grandfather of Dr. Peter Copp, Lee A. Copp-Yonge of Toronto, Ralph Armstrong of Vancouver, Didi Vaneyk of Toronto and Judy Gale of St. Catharines and seven great-grandchildren. His loving sister Winnifred Allan passed away 2 days following (Dec. 6). Fred had been a long-time resident of Guelph (1911-1968) and was a foreman, then superintendent of The Guelph Carpet Worested Spinning Mills. He spent many enjoyable winters in St. Petersburg Fl. BOWDEN, Mark - Of Toronto, passed away at St. Michael's Hospital, Toronto, Saturday, November 30, 2002, in his 47th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Joan. Loved son of Nancy and Hans Doeink of Guelph and the late John Bowden. Loving brother of Timothy (Suzanne) Bowden and Matthew (Tina) Doeink. Devoted son-in-law of Marie and Ralph Van Egten and the late Bill Gordon. Dear brother-in-law of John (Leslie) Gordon. Cherished grandson of Mary Tompkins. Greatly missed by nieces and nephews, Jessica, Andrew, Will, Allie and Maggie. Mark will be sadly missed by all. He was admired for his kind spirit and generosity to others. SOLECKI, Reverend Father Eugene - Peacefully, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Hamilton on Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, Father Eugene Solecki, in his 62nd year of life and 35th year of his Priesthood. Predeceased by his parents, Frances and Leo Solecki. Father is survived by his sister, Sophia Gloaz, as well as his nephew and niece, all of Poland. Father Solecki served for many years in the Hamilton Diocese as an Associate Pastor at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hamilton and Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Walkerton and as Pastor at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Teeswater and latterly at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Arthur, Ontario and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Kenilworth, Ontario. Visitation will take place at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Arthur, Ontario on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002 (today) from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a Prayer Vigil at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Arthur on Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at 11 a.m. Interment , Marymount cemetery , Guelph.
