HILTS, Marilyn Alice (nee Woods) - Unexpectedly, at Elliot Lake, on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003. Daughter of the late Herbert and Lilian Woods. Beloved wife of Robert Hilts and dear mother to Deborah MacDougall (Donald), the late Kevin Hilts, Tracey Morrison (David), Bradley Hilts, Glenn Hilts (Marielle) and Travis Hilts (Sherry). Grandmother to Mark, Carrie, Stephen, Jennifer, Rebecca, Christopher, Katie, Amanda, Brandon, Evelyn and Spencer. Great-grandmother to Tre, Elexis, Natasha, Riley, Makyla and Adrienne. The family received friends at the MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, "Shoemaker Chapel", 55 Mill St. E., Acton, Monday from 7-9 p.m. and will receive friends today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. J. Mark Tiller on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at St. Alban's Anglican Church, 19 St. Alban's Dr., Acton. Interment Fairview cemetery. Remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.

MATHESON, Lila Jean - Peacefully, at Guelph General Hospital, on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003. Jean Akitt, of Hillsburgh, in her 88th year. Beloved wife of Donald Matheson. Loving mother of Emily Sickle and her husband Don of Toronto and Alex Matheson and his wife Jane of Hamilton. Cherished grandma of Karen (John Delfin), Laura, Gillian, Steve and Jeff. Dear sister of Muriel Foster of Guelph. Predeceased by sisters, Violetta and Helen and brothers, Bert and Ed. The family will receive friends for visitation at the Butcher Family Funeral Home, 5399 Main St. S., Erin today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the Hillsburgh Baptist Church, 21 Main St., Hillsburgh (where Jean served as an organist and choir director for over 40 years) on Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 2 p.m., Rev. Stan Ball officiating. Spring interment, Coningsby cemetery. If desired, donations to Hillsburgh Baptist Church or Hillsburgh Baptist Church Jean Matheson Scholarship Fund would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

JANSEN, Wagner - passed away peacefully, at Guelph General Hospital, on Saturday, February 1, 2003. Wagner was in his 84th year. A native of Denmark and proud Canadian, he will be lovingly missed by his wife of 56 years, Emma Jansen of Rockwood. He will be fondly remembered by his children, Anker and his wife Ruth of Guelph, Tove and her husband Ron of Mississauga and Tonny and his wife Anne of Whitehorse, YK. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Steve of Edmonton, AB, Daniel of Guelph, Mark and his wife Lori Anne of Guelph, Lori Beth and Floyd of Guelph and Andrew of Whitehorse, YK. He was also the loving great-grandpa of his latest pride and joy, Jessica. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service for Wagner will be held at Rockwood United Church (Harris St.) on Tuesday, February 4 at 11 a.m., with The Rev. Lynne Bandy officiating. The entire family wishes to express deep gratitude to Dr. Sommerville and the entire staff at the Guelph General Hospital for their heartfelt compassion and expert care. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 117 Guelph St., Rockwood.

MAUDE, Alice Valda (nee Hampson) - Peacefully, at St. Mary's Hospital, on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, in her 93rd year. Beloved mother to Sandy and her companion Jack. Will be sadly missed by her grandchildren, Glen and Aaron and his girlfriend Laura. Survived by her sisters, Wilma and Olga and her brother, Harry. Predeceased by her dear husband, William and her sister, Vera. Family invites relatives and friends to Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home and Chapel, 51 Benton (at Church St.), Kitchener, 742-4481 for visitation on Saturday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003 at 2 p.m. Private interment Woodlawn cemetery in Guelph. As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to be made to the Osteoporosis Society or a charity of choice.

MARTIN, Ruth Marie - At LHG-St. Joseph's Health Centre, on Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, Ruth Marie (Millard) (Lynch) Martin, age 76, dear wife of Robert Martin, of Sarnia. Loving mother of Ted Lynch of Guelph and Bonnie (Lynch) Reynolds and her husband Brian of Fergus and grandmother of Becky and her friend Marty of Toronto and Bradley and Jennifer of Fergus. Sister of Lloyd Millard and Geraldine Thatcher, both of Guelph and sister-in-law of Jim Martin of Guelph, John Martin of Waterloo and Mary Perry of Guelph. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Florence (Eaton) Millard; a brother, Charlie Millard and sisters, Marjorie Millard and Elsie Robson. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Salvation Army and had retired after 15 years of service with the Lambton County Board of Education. Funeral services will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel, 970 Confederation St., Sarnia, on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. Cremation and interment of cremains will be held later at Woodlawn cemetery in Guelph. Visitation at the D.J. Robb Funeral Home, on Wednesday afternoon and evening from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the Salvation Army or St. Joseph's Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated.

BROWN, Patricia J. - Passed away, at the Guelph General Hospital, Guelph, on Sunday, February 2, 2003. Pat (Biggs) Brown, at the age of 61 years. Beloved wife of Kenneth Brown. Loving daughter of Jean Biggs and the late Prof. Delmar Biggs (1997). Loved mother of Scott Brown of Perth and Dan Brown (Lisa DiFrancesco) of Kitchener. Cherished grandmother of Morgan Harron (Brandon) of Guelph and Jennifer Windsor of Kitchener. Great-grandmother of Savannah Harron. Dear sister of Paul Biggs of Guelph, Judd Biggs of Cambridge and Donna Biggs of Hay Lakes, Alberta. Pat was a former employee of Farm Credit Corporation. PALMER, Gladys Viola - Of Guelph, passed away, at Lapointe-Fisher Nursing Home, Guelph, Tuesday, February 4, 2003, in her 96th year. Beloved daughter of the late James and Mabel (nee Wagner) Palmer. Dear sister of the late Bruce Palmer. Fondly remembered by nieces, Joan (Bill) Hare of Langley, B.C., Carol (George) Spawl of Whitby and Ruth (Terry) Dolby of Guelph and nephew, Jim (Bonnie) Palmer of Fergus. Dear longtime friend of Margaret Childs of Guelph. Gladys will be missed by her many friends. She was a former employee of the Soil Science Department OAC, a member of the University of Guelph Retiree's Association and a former resident of Dufferin Street for over 80 years. Friends will be received at the Wall-Custance Funeral Home and Chapel, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, Thursday, February 6, 2003 (1-2 p.m.), followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. (Reception to follow in the Wall-Custance Family Reception Centre). Interment Woodlawn cemetery , Guelph. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer Society, 111 MacDonell St., Guelph N1H 2Z7 would be appreciated. Dear mother of Lynn and his wife Harlene and Gord and his wife Gloria, all of Guelph. Loved grandmother of Mark, Kate, Kristian and Jennifer. Dear sister of the late Florence Reeds, Jessie Ritchie, John, George and Alex Beaton. Mrs. Bartlett together with her husband, Rex, operated The Bartlett Confectionary and Soda Bar from 1939-1985. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, this evening (Friday 7-9 p.m.) where funeral service and committal will be held in the chapel on Saturday, February 8 at 10 a.m. with Rev. Kevin Bothwell of St. James the Apostle Anglican Church officiating. Cremation with interment of ashes at Woodlawn cemetery , Guelph. WINTER, Nancy Dene - Passed away, at the Guelph General Hospital, on Monday, February 3, 2003. Nancy Dene Winter, in her 57th year, was the beloved mother of Ian Brown of Baysville and Julie Brown of Guelph. She is survived by her mother, Marion Winter, her sister, Holly Moneypenny and by her husband Harry, all of Brockville. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Friday evening 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel. FOUNTAIN, Margaret Helena - At St. Joseph's Health Care Centre, on Feb. 2, 2003. Margaret (Thornton) Fountain, in her 87th year, was the beloved wife of the late James C. Fountain (1982). She was the dear mother of Ron Thornton, Betty and her husband Bob Black, Carole and her husband Sherwood Annis, Shirley Baumhour, Diane Major, Jim Fountain, Cathy Fountain, Henry Fountain and his wife Sue, Jerry Fountain and his wife Carolyn, Arnold (Peter) Fountain and his wife Loretta; loving grandmother of Cheryle, Ken, Bobbie, Jim, Tim, Katrina, Treena, Kevin and Jamie. Margaret is also survived by many great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by Danny Lyle. A private funeral service was held on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph. Interment took place at Woodlawn cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to St. Joseph's Health Care Centre and to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home for their care of Margaret.

Beloved wife of the late Anthony Bubenik (1995). Dear mother of George and his wife Ella of Guelph and Jelena and her husband Milan Vasek of Switzerland. Loved Babi of Peter, Susan, Helen, Daniel and Michael. Rested at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph. Private cremation. WALTERS, Prudence "Sue" - At St. Joseph's Health Centre, on Wednesday, February 5, 2003. Sue (Davidson) Walters, at the age of 81 years. Beloved wife of the late Harold Walters (1978). Dear mother of Noreen Fairless and her husband Doug of Guelph, Shirley (Rick) of Kitchener, Margaret Lutete of Guelph, Jim Walters of Toronto, the late Harold Walters (2001) and the late Sandra (1947). Always remembered by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sadly missed by her brothers and sisters in Scotland. Sue served as a W.A.C. during WWII. Friends may call at the GILCHRIST CHAPEL-McIntyre & Wilkie Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph (from 1-2 p.m. Friday). McGivney, in his 80th year, beloved husband of Beatrice J. (Ball) McGivney. Dear father of Karen and her husband John Pellin, Jimmy and Susan and her husband Bill Williamson, all of Guelph. Loved grandfather of Shelley, Christopher, Jenny, Katie, Michelle, Shawn, Nicole, Jessica and Cathy. Dear brother of Helen Rice of Guelph, Alice Bailey of Nova Scotia, John of Guelph and the late Veronica McGivney and Clara Witty. Philip will be sadly missed by his loyal companion Cindy. He will also be missed at the girl's hockey and softball games.
